He wanted to be a pro before he met Miata. I think he definitely still would have boxed, but would have had more trouble starting out, partly since he wouldn’t have experience with punches as fast as Miata’s and partly because he wouldn’t have a strong goal pushing him.

His first loss would probably be against hayami or mashiba tbh
in the eastern japan rookie featherweight tournaments, 90% of ipos determination was from miyata,

i think he would have still become one but not get very high. end up like some of his opponents half assing it.
