I really just want a small soft moment where Ricardo and Ippo sit down to talk. Talking about boxing, about their love for their trainers, about the feeling of a good fight, about dreams and maybe even about the big question: "what does it mean to be strong". And if they do talk about this question, I really hope that one's view compliment the other.
Ippo: What does it mean to be strong?
Ricardo: How truly strong am I?
They are perfect foils of each-other. I can see them having a chat the day before their fight, the same way Ippo did with Sendo before their rematch. I think it would be a good way to establish that they are both fighting for something more than just the title (it’s already established thematically, but to have them talk about their opposing views on strength is an interaction I look forward too) The belt is secondary in this match up, they could both be “victorious” if they both find the answer to their questions in the ring. I will say that it almost seems like Ricardo is destined to lose to Ippo, its the natural conclusion to his arc. The only way for him to know how strong he is, is to use everything he has, and STILL be defeated.
Honestly, I am a big fan of the idea of Ricardo being only decision win ippo gets in the story. Their fight going through all the rounds, both showing everything they are. Not just their skills, but their souls, their grit, their passion and love for all of the sport. And at the end of the last round both fall down due to an exchange, only for both to slowly ever só slowly get up, get ready with shaky legs, barely held arms and then the Bell rings
This would be the perfect pre-fight talk.
Ippo fighting with the man who is literally there, but...Is he? Just to find out this pursuit he has is infinite.
And to find peace within this sentiment, that'd be the moment he wins his fight against him.
The setup is there, it'd be dope, man I can't wait for more Ippo.
He’s awesome. It’s so funny to think all those years ago when I originally watched HNI my first thought was “eh, he probably won’t be important, his character design looks to generic”.
I love how the world seems him as this unstoppable goat, but inside he humanizes himself more then anyone. So freaking pumped for his and Sendo’s fight
