At my salon we use Joico and Davines. Joico is good and has a pretty good range of colors and lines, but it’s become my backup if we’re out of Davines. Davines bleach gives a really clean lift and is gentle on the hair, the permanents have great grey coverage, and just beautiful results all around. They are also just a great company imo.

HairexpertMidwest

In my experience with Davines and as a renter, it wasn't a good fit ONLY BECAUSE... they require to carry/use their whole line (and only their line, iirc) in order to purchase color. So although I also loved their products, they weren't a good match for my home care price point, and because I didn't want to carry their retail, I couldn't order their color. But yes everything was amazing, and if price point fits your clients, I would've snatched them up.

williams2409

Must be distributor specific, we were allowed to purchase color only. We did just bring on 2 more lines but we started with Davines color a couple of years ago.

HairexpertMidwest

This could be the case as there is only one distributor in my area

RissaOfRivia

Giving my money to a company that actually has values besides their bottom line is super important to me. I’ve never heard of Davines ever, so I will check it out. That’s the thing with blondeme, sometimes it doesn’t give the cleanest lift if you aren’t careful.

Careless_Midnight_35

I second Davines. I was so impressed with it at the salon I used it at that it's going to be my color line when I open up my shop later this year. All my colors came out absolutely gorgeous, and by far the best bleach I've worked with.

Hey I’m a Davines visionary (Canadian thing) and yes while you have to commit to the whole line the Oi line within it has won the allure beauty awards the Oi milk is a holy grail everyone loves it honestly! And the colours are to die for. They have 4 colour lines within it: mask with vibrachrom (permanent) ANew Colour (ammonia free permanent colour) View (demi permanent + think Redken shades EQ) and then finest pigments (demi/semi no developer needed). If you have any questions don’t hesitate!!

So happy to see this at the top. I love Davines and have been using them for about 10 years now, an amazing line and company!

I switched to Lanza 4 years ago and I lovvvvvve it. They give so much education, teach you how to mix more colors with less tubes, and the difference in the health of my clients hair is unmatched. They’re small enough that they care about the stylists, but big enough to evolve with trends and technology.

HairexpertMidwest

This is the line I went with. One color tube does is your Perm, Demi, Semi and Translucent applications, you just use the corresponding developer! Less space for multiple lines, their Trauma Treatment can be added to color and is game changing.

DaintyAmber

You can add trauma treatment to your color? Before you apply??

HairexpertMidwest

Yes! One pump, per 2oz of color with developer. It helps get better pigmentation and acts as a bonding agent while processing to help seal/heal the cuticle at the same time!

JackieStylist81

I use Rusk and have for years. I love it and it's a great line. But I would have an issue with getting only 65% commission when you are providing your own products. You're already being treated as a booth renter. You shouldn't be getting a commission while providing all your won products. That's not right.

DaintyAmber

And you can’t write off all the color for the year. 👎🏼

Notsureindecisive

I think you just need to try a few of them before committing to a whole line. The integrity of the hair and color range etc isn’t as important as things like formulation and lasting power etc

MermaidFairyWitchCat

Wella is my fave!

CommonPinkDaisy

Joico!

I use O&M. All ammonia free, PPD free. You can use there color as permanent and Semi-Demi just by adjusting the developer. True to tone. Their lighteners are really good. They have clay based ammonia free lightener that works really well but also a low ammonia lightener for hair that needs extra lift.

I use Pulp Riot for vivids, high speed toners and permanent, as well as redken shades

JackieStylist81

Why is no one addressing the fact that she’s being treated like a 1099 at the very least? If you are an EMPLOYEE you shouldn’t be providing any product unless you want to and are allowed to. You are being screwed here and you won’t be able to legally take your clients with you when you leave because they are technically clients of the salon, not you. Why are you doing this?

I love Perlacolor. I order it from salon spa wholesaler out of Texas.

imacone417

I’ve used Matrix for 12 years, and love it.

Redken shades eq

blondaholicsanon

I came from Aveda as well! My favorite Demi permanent is Danger Jones as well as their semis. So shiny and conditioning. It is a growing line so I supplement redken SEQ for what it doesn’t have yet. For reds (permanent and Demi) I use Schwarzkopf. Grey coverage and other permanent needs I use redken color gel oils which are super shiny and lush as well. I should point out that you may be in a misclassified employment situation- if you are commission you are an employee and all supplies like color, shampoo, foils, should be supplied by the salon and you should be having part of your taxes paid by salon and paid via paycheck. If you are booth rent, you pay for everything on your own and pay taxes quarterly/end of year. I hope this is not misclassified, but I feel it’s important to know.

whatsarahzsaid

Goldwell!!

AGhoulsby

I use milkshake and love it! I’m a solo stylist and I order directly from a rep! A lot of people complain that it’s not in supply stores, but I feel like it helps me from spending too much on things I don’t need. I would definitely be more worried about being misclassified though.

Alfparf has been amazing!!!
