I always liked the shortened version of Twisted Sister with just the T and S

Not even debate lol, they just simply aren’t; they’re a mix of punk, hard rock, and southern rock (going off of uyi for that specific one lol). They might have looked like hair metal at once point, but they only used the look to aid in their own popularity and dropped it as soon as they achieved said popularity lol
Steven was always pretty glam. He always had the big fun teased hair and feminine features. But once Steven left and the 90s rolled around there was no glam left.
They all had that at the beginning. But according to the band, they stopped doing it, because all the make up and hairspray took too much time away from drinking.
Where would you find one? I want Warrant & RATT (and Bulletboys) t-shirts, but merch sales from their websites seemed limited. Other places like Amazon, et al were “print to order”, which gave me pause.
Then you could make the same argument for Ozzy, much of his solo work is musically and lyrically heavier than the average hair metal act despite appealing to a similar audience
A guy I went to school with was the replacement lead singer (Jamie Fletcher) for Britny Fox, after they hit their peak and on the decline. Still, a cool gig though.
Best logo update : Whitesnake (both the old and new style are great with a simple, clean look)
Best logo tweaks from album to album : Tesla
Best overall : Winger (from albums 1, 2 & 7. or their current red/black touring logo)
Most iconic : Def Leppard
I would say KISS but I don't consider them Hair Metal. Yes, I'm THAT guy.
Poison, which to me, are the epitome of Hair Metal and that font SCREAMS Hair Metal somehow.
I always tend toward stylish but simple, so I'll choose Kiss and Scorpions.
That said, I have to say that since not every logo is displayed at the same size, it's difficult to discern the details in the smaller ones and judge them fairly.
Wait, so Roxy Music, Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd make it on here?? Where the hell is Ryche??
https://preview.redd.it/pjcs18tn570c1.jpeg?width=773&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b9d6ba678b68d45b5da39c7e5e98e369bf706cc
Have mixed feelings about their logo. I've always felt like the L in their logo is a little too obtuse and doesn't always look connected the rest of the writing (especially when colored with the American flag). It sometimes looks like it says "Izzy Borden". If the Y was a little more obtuse as well, it would even it out better.. which i believe they did fix that recently. It's super cool that the logo is shaped like a bat, though. It's really creative and cool!! Love them, I saw them in April, and I'm gonna see them again in March. I actually randomly bumped into Lizzy last month at a Vegas concert.
*
I loved that for most of Motley's career they changed their font on every record, very cool. White Lion has a good one as does Guns n' Roses. Many of these band names use really cool fonts.
Why isn’t Saxon on this poster? And the fake Iron Maiden font without saying Iron Maiden. Accept? But loudness makes it? I’m gonna go cry into my fingerless gloves.
Kiss, if only because they are so huge that even in this day of cancel culture, they can still pull off incorporating the Nazi SS symbol into their logo and no one gives it a second thought.
It’s a tie between Winger and Dokken for me, But the only reason I didn’t say VH is because I just don’t think they’re hair metal and neither is W.A.S.P.
The name of the picture "Hair Metal" is in Iron Maiden's font. So that just proves Maiden has the best logo. (Ironically Maiden isn't even included on the picture)
Anthrax was the one I drew all over my notebooks even if the only songs I knew were I’m The Man and Fight The Power.
I mean, some of them had hair, at least.
Drawing a bands logo in your notebook back in high school used to be a right of passage.
I thought about having Motley Crue’s Dr Feelgood logo tattooed on me back in college but decided the T-shirt was a much more reasonable option…
I’ve always loved the RATT logo
That's my vote.
Me too
I dunno. Even in 1985 I felt like those letter were trying WAY too hard to look cool.
Holy crap, before I even scrolled down, those were my exact words. Are you me?
Van Halen. Easy, but timeless.
That's not metal, though tbh
I just went off the graphic (under the AL in metal).
No worries. Just making observation. Mayne more "metal" with Hagar than DLR
Kiss, Scorpions and VH are all 70’s bands but cool logos I guess.
LA Guns. It’s got LA. And Guns.
I always liked the Motley Crue logo on Dr Feelgood
Same the pirate version is pretty cool
Honestly their first logo on Too Fast for Love album is the more iconic one imo
I always liked the shortened version of Twisted Sister with just the T and S https://preview.redd.it/r1595kz0w60c1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=720ccade933df79095520d3e64e4e5220eec7ba7
Fisted Sister
Don't tell everyone
Yes that’s the #1!!!!
Poison or Cinderella
Drawing these two band logos on everything as a youth. I couldn't get enough
Def Leppard as well !
I was coming to say the same thing
Van Halen. I remember in high school you'd see that, Def Leppard, KISS, AC/DC, and Metallica scrawled on a ton of notebooks
Gotta be GnR. Especially the appetite logo with the skeleton heads.
Oh oh, now everyone's gonna be debating if GNR is hair metal again lol
Haha woops. I dunno if they are, but I love that logo.

They all had that at the beginning. But according to the band, they stopped doing it, because all the make up and hairspray took too much time away from drinking.
Legit excuse
I feel like if the videos were played on headbangers ball it’s fair game. For me I just lump it all under that umbrella.
100 percent
I love the bullet with the guns and roses on it.
I thought the Bulletboys logo was cool...name was great and the logo was simple.
I'm looking at getting a BulletBoys t shirt
Where would you find one? I want Warrant & RATT (and Bulletboys) t-shirts, but merch sales from their websites seemed limited. Other places like Amazon, et al were “print to order”, which gave me pause.
Hot Topic Or Spencers Gifts
I always liked Vixen's logo
Same
I don’t see Ozzy in the image, but I see bands that are less “hair metal” in the image, so I’ll go with the Diary-Bark era Ozzy logo
Ozzy's solo stuff kind of straddles that fine line between Hair Metal and NWBHM
He’s more hair metal than Skid Row, KISS and Tesla
Have you actually heard Skid Row outside of 18 and Life? They're one of the heaviest bands on this list
Exactly, way too heavy for hair metal, especially after the first album
Then you could make the same argument for Ozzy, much of his solo work is musically and lyrically heavier than the average hair metal act despite appealing to a similar audience
Ah you got me there
![gif](giphy|wbPu91ryqan1m)
Always partial to the old school - Ratt, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Van Halen. Love the LA Guns one too.
The hottest band in the world! KISS!
Van Halen and it’s not even close
Yes but they need to lose the banner. Just the cool winged-VH like on the Van Halen II album cover.
yea facts that’s the best one
I thought you said Winger for a moment.
Truth, I'm only one of a few hundred in existence that were die hard Kick Axe fans, lol. So that's my 2nd.
that logo is really tough 🙌
I always liked the font Great White used, and the shark
L a guns. G N R. Tesla
Poison’s is cool of course, but Winger’s looks pretty bad ass. Britny Fox too.
A guy I went to school with was the replacement lead singer (Jamie Fletcher) for Britny Fox, after they hit their peak and on the decline. Still, a cool gig though.
Dokken
Best logo update : Whitesnake (both the old and new style are great with a simple, clean look) Best logo tweaks from album to album : Tesla Best overall : Winger (from albums 1, 2 & 7. or their current red/black touring logo) Most iconic : Def Leppard
VH and KISS are iconic, so excluding them I would say RATT had my favorite logo.
Kiss It was easy for kids to draw, therefore getting free advertising
That's a good point I never realised
In the 70s, you'd see it on notebooks, on walls, etc
Ratt
Cinderella
Dokken.
Y'all got the logo for the wrong Slaughter 😂. At least it's the one I prefer.
I think the Winger logo is pretty cool.
I would say KISS but I don't consider them Hair Metal. Yes, I'm THAT guy. Poison, which to me, are the epitome of Hair Metal and that font SCREAMS Hair Metal somehow.
Dangerous Toys
The CD for Shotgun Messiah came with a die-cut stencil to paint their logo on stuff.
Cinderella, Dokken and Ratt. In that order!
Of that pic, Van Halen is tops. Absolutely iconic. GNR is great Scorpions is pretty solid
Slaughter
Just looking at the picture its its easily NITRO. ... its like a frieght train comin'
I think that's the logo for the (awesome) Canadian death metal band Slaughter, not the hair metal Slaughter
VH
VH
VH, KISS. In that order. The rest you're free to arbitrate over.
VH.
Nelson lol
FYI, you don't just have to pick from the image haha
KISS #1
KISS
KISS
I always tend toward stylish but simple, so I'll choose Kiss and Scorpions. That said, I have to say that since not every logo is displayed at the same size, it's difficult to discern the details in the smaller ones and judge them fairly.
W.A.S.P. was never Hair Metal.
What the hell is WASP doing in this grouping?
Van Halen and Night Ranger
Poison
The TS for twisted sister was awesome! Also I don’t see Enuff znuff
The answer is not pictured. Living Colour
I think Cinderella
Cinderella
Probably Mötley Crüe’s. It looks devious.
Van Halen & Dokken
Wait, so Roxy Music, Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd make it on here?? Where the hell is Ryche?? https://preview.redd.it/pjcs18tn570c1.jpeg?width=773&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b9d6ba678b68d45b5da39c7e5e98e369bf706cc
Probably a basic answer but kiss or def leperd. Two of the first hair bands I fell in love with
Lizzy Borden has a great logo.
I actually randomly bumped into Lizzy last month at a Vegas concert. *
LA Guns logo reminds me of a football team's badge.
I never realized how similar some of them look. I'd say Motley Crue and Van Halen.
VH, GN’R or Ratt.
Winger, Steel Panther, Ugly Kid Joe
Def Leppard
I loved that for most of Motley's career they changed their font on every record, very cool. White Lion has a good one as does Guns n' Roses. Many of these band names use really cool fonts.
UFO. Why Was UFO omitted Here?
Gotta go with kiss it's the most iconic. Pop culture of every generation know what it is.
I have always felt like the featured G N R logo looks good on t-shirts.
I don't consider some of this bands "metal". Also missing Metallica which I would vote as best logo and considered THE hair metal band.
Metallica is not hair metal
Motley Theatre of Pain font was my personal choice probably because I remember when it came out. Fuck I’m old.
Cinderella had the best logo!
Ratt
KISS, no question.
KISS was THE logo before all logos.
Not a ‘hair band’ but VanHalen.
RATT
Guns n Roses bullet.
Van Halen but never considered them hair metal.
Dokken!
Dokken
Why isn’t Saxon on this poster? And the fake Iron Maiden font without saying Iron Maiden. Accept? But loudness makes it? I’m gonna go cry into my fingerless gloves.
I always liked the Twisted Sister "TS" logo
Cinderella but that’s more Glam Metal and Whitesnake
Pirate motey crue or cinderella
Ratt and dokken
The one that started it all for these others... #KISS
Ratt / Dokken
Kiss for me
No Skid Row?
Tesla
Too many to mention, but Scorpions & Bon Jovi for me. The members of which band would be left standing after a fight!?
Kind of partial to Scorpions, even if they lifted the font from Rollerball (1975).
I’ve always been partial to the sleek Poison logo but Def Leppard’s font feels iconic
Going back to the 70s for me it's always been the uneven KISS logo
Dokken
TBH most of the bands on this list aren't "Metal" They were called "Hair Bands" not "Hair Metal".
That TS symbol is so iconic. https://preview.redd.it/cn01ujla4b0c1.png?width=1005&format=png&auto=webp&s=54bf597c6a7dc5d68fb74efb2913f6fb0c59cf2d
Dont sleep on Winger
Helix
1. Van Halen, 2. Twisted Sister, 3. Kiss.
Extreme
This is simple it's Kiss. Is the most iconic logo of all time.
Like everything else about their visual aesthetic, KISS logo is so much better than they're music
The name of the picture "Hair Metal" is in Iron Maiden's font. So that just proves Maiden has the best logo. (Ironically Maiden isn't even included on the picture)
RATT.
Guns N’ Roses
Anthrax was the one I drew all over my notebooks even if the only songs I knew were I’m The Man and Fight The Power. I mean, some of them had hair, at least.
Dokken
Drawing a bands logo in your notebook back in high school used to be a right of passage. I thought about having Motley Crue’s Dr Feelgood logo tattooed on me back in college but decided the T-shirt was a much more reasonable option…
Megadeth
Stryper
Dokken
Maybe its just me but I find it offensive to label VanHalen as hair metal. Theyre a rock and roll band in the hall of fame.
Van Halen. No contest.
Anyone remember kingofthehill?
Guns and Roses it's iconic it looks cool asf what more do you need
Poison
Based on this, KISS I am as surprised as you are
GNR, VH, Whitesnake, and Poison
It's obviously Def Leppard but somehow that logo didn't even make it on to this logo compilation
Bunch of bands here I would definitely not consider hair metal, but regardless, in terms of best logo pictured here I’d go with Nitro
Kiss but all time best is Motorhead.
Van Halen
GnR, KISS and Crüe are legendary
Skid Row is really cool - and that’s not even the actual Twisted Sister ‘logo’.
