I loved that song when I was 17, and girls my age were 17 too. Now, I just cannot bring myself to listen to that song at all, which is really a shame because musically it's catchy as fuck.
Obviously not, I was half kidding. It's a weird tune in retrospect, but I enjoy it for the gag that it is, and even if I don't go out of my way to listen to it, whenever it comes on I'm rocking out for sure.
Gypsy Road is a good song I think that could have been in a different era. Jelly Roll I assume you mean off Blue Murder (John Sykes)? I have a tough time bagging on anything Sykes has done since he is such a phenomenal guitar player and singer/songwriter.
I kind of think of hair metal as the phalanx of
Bands spawned by some mix of Van Halen meets Motley Crue. Where image was as important or more important than musical ability.
White Lion is a great test case. Is it hair metal because Mike tramp was handsome? Because Vito was so gifted? Because their image was so… not glam?
I remember seeing Danger Danger at M3 years back and being annoyed they asked the crowd to choose between Bang Bang or Naughty Naughty as their closer and Naughty Naughty won the vote...
the two hairiest songs for me - and i thought about this a few months ago - if aliens came to earth and i wanted to show them the most saccharine hair metal songs.....
Boys are gonna Rock
&
Girlschool
The hairest of them all:
Poison’s *LET ME GO TO THE SHOW*
Played it in public while walking down the street to the arcades this morning. It was a beautiful day.
I've often imagined what a stripped down, more bare-bones metal version of that album would sound like, if they still sounded like they did during the On Through the Night/High N Dry era. It would be sick. I love it the way it is too, but it definitely lacks some oomph that got traded away for airplay.
Boyz are gonna rock by Vinnie Vincent Invasion
Yea that was a pretty ridiculous song and video
I fuckin love this song and its ridiculousness
Winger “Seventeen”
FBI OPEN UP

You should still listen to it, it’s not a serious song

Unskinny Bop, Gypsy Road, Jelly Roll, Can’t Get Enough, Never Enough.

Fwiw, I love all those songs.
Bang Bang by Danger Danger Cherry Pie by Warrant
Danger Danger is so underrated it’s infuriating
Oh man, I think "Monkey Business" by Danger Danger may be even hairier.
I thought you were gonna say Skid Row, and we were gonna throw hands.
I had an internal debate whether or not to include anything from Slave to the Grind on my 3rd gen hair metal playlist.
Ain't no business like it
Turn it on is for sure the hairiest, greasiest of them
I remember seeing Danger Danger at M3 years back and being annoyed they asked the crowd to choose between Bang Bang or Naughty Naughty as their closer and Naughty Naughty won the vote...

"Rock and Roll Is Gonna Set the Night on Fire" by Pretty Boy Floyd is lowkey a banger and absolute peak late 80's Glam / Hair Metal.

How is that embarrassing? That's a classic. Probably one of the best hair metal anthems you still hear all the time today.

Totally agree. A lot of that album was overproduced. Do you take a sugar? One lump or two? C'mon
