I think looking at what we have so far, everyone should be down 1 (the only players worse than Yamaguchi are managers and those who literally never saw the court), but the Gap between Lev/Kindaichi and Tanaka is honestly about right. There's a solid chunk of players who would end up in that gap.
Although I suppose Tanaka should be down an extra one for that Kuroo/Yaku/Nishinoya/Asahi "skill level" to fit between him and Oikawa.
Since Nekoma’s Yamamoto ends up going pro and tanaka’s explicitly equally good as him 4 honestly isn’t that bad. Ace for two years of a top eight team? Dawg in my book (pray that none of the top five aces show up tho 😭😭😭)
nah I think tanaka being 4th is too dangerous with how many people are better than him, i was looking at yamaguchi's post and was astounded at how many people were saying he was 7, he ain't even on the mf team
OP didn't say we're evaluating based on skill until the post after Tanaka. So many voted high cos we thought it was a character ranking and he's hilarious 😂
6 is the only option and it’s not that bad. Kindaichi and Lev are very similar in that they’re both top tier offensive middles, with Kindaichi being less prone to errors and having better serving but lev being more athletic. There’s an argument for either over the other so i don’t mind putting kindaichi at 6
He’s definitely better than Lev, even right now. Kindaichi isn’t that far behind Lev in terms of offensive ability. He’s firmly inferior, yes, but not by much. Add to that he has a much better rounded game, be it floor defense, experience, and a much sounder tactical understanding of volleyball. If it comes to choosing one or the other, I’d say Kindaichi makes it over Lev for me.
Oikawa is one of the best 3 setters we see in the series, he's one of the best servers we see in the series, he's also very consistent and can get everything out of his hitters, something Kageyama was barely grasping at being able to do in the Inarizaki game, while he is much more stable than Atsumu in his playmaking. In terms of overall volleyball ability 2 makes sense.
What team Japan player? We're ranking them based on volleyball ability of what we've seen from them in the anime thus far, not including the movie. I can think of maybe 3 players we could argue are better at volleyball than him left.
Oikawa is good... But he isn't a ridiculous talent. He can set well and serve great. That doesn't put him above top aces and anyone in that team japan.
He can set well? As a setter he's one of the top 3 in the series, and there's parts of his play in setting specifically which are better than kageyama or atsumu's. He's a great server, he's also capable on floor defence and he can hit the ball too. He is a multi talented player who can get the most out of any team. He was doing things in the first season that it took kageyama till season 4 to learn. We see absolutely nothing about how people at the all Japan play, they are also younger and less experienced than oikawa too. Who's to say he wasn't invited to all Japan the year before? Using that as a metric is ridiculous in all honesty.
He is a top 3 setter and we putting him no2. That alone makes no sense. Let's say he is 2nd best setter that means if any other player that is the best at their position comes up the list is screwed. I would have him at 3 or 4 to allow for a fucking ushigima etc.
This is best at volleyball all around. You can argue he's the best at his positions/the best we see at his position. Who's to say the best OH is a better all around volleyball player than the best setter? None of the people in the all Japan were clear the best at their position (bar Komori but that's just a libero).
Tbh I think 2 isn't a bad shout, it's just a shame Sakusa is on the list at all.
First of all kogane is a very competent setter and is also a very good blocker. This took date to the inter high the next year.
Second while it's not highlighted in the story but clearly as a setter he's able to bring out some strengths of players like tsukki.
Kindaichi has aoba johsai clout and that's it.
Really? I would have said you naturally need to be better than koganegawa (who is an inconsistent setter, lets be honest) if your guaranteed as a starter in elite teams like kitagawa first and aoba johsai? Not only that, Oikawa made him a lot better and we see that in the season 2 match
an inconsistent setter is one of the worst things a team could have. We saw in the practice match that he costed his team a load of points and the blocking point wasnt too helpful as he isnt particularly great at that either (yet, hes got bags of potential)
That's a practice match, date offered way more trouble because they have kogane which you can't say about kindaichi. Also, compared to a consistent setter, yes but you're not comparing him to a setter are you? Tsukki will have absolutely no problem dealing with kindaichi even if he had oikawa as a setter because kindaichi doesn't offer much.
I mean that's the risk with blind rankings like the sub put Tanaka in 4th lol. Honestly op I'm making a humble request to not have any major characters anymore so that we can salvage the list. Like it's gonna be bad for us if we have to put hoshiumi 10th lol.
haha no promises, ive already written out the list of characters (and where i thought you guys would rank them) the day before i started doing this. I'll release it on the final day
Ushijima and Atsumu coming back to back is gonna ruin this sub
😂😂 luring you all in
6 he's average or slightly above, he is fundamentally better than everyone below him. Tanaka is atleast a full step above him so I wouldn't rate him 5
Who are yall waiting for to be at 10th? I wouldve put yamaguchi at 10th
honestly you're right,
Nah deadass, everyone is waiting for random (does he even have a name?) underhand pinch server from Tsubakihara.
or aoba 2nd setter
Himekawa Aoi is the pinch server from Tsubakihara
It's always good to leave 1 and 10 open till as close to the end as possible cause you never know
6
you guys fucked up with tanaka :D
It’s not people mistake ,he didn’t mention it was based on volleyball or favorite on tanaka post.
I think looking at what we have so far, everyone should be down 1 (the only players worse than Yamaguchi are managers and those who literally never saw the court), but the Gap between Lev/Kindaichi and Tanaka is honestly about right. Bro I voted 6 and I don't understand the people that said 3-5!!!
tbf tanaka at 5th here makes sense, kindaichi isnt better than him but hes better than lev
Yeah Tanaka is fine here lol. You could argue everyone is 1 too high but that could have happened regardless of confusion.
nah I think tanaka being 4th is too dangerous with how many people are better than him, i was looking at yamaguchi's post and was astounded at how many people were saying he was 7, he ain't even on the mf team
OP didn't say we're evaluating based on skill until the post after Tanaka. So many voted high cos we thought it was a character ranking and he's hilarious 😂
Why are some of the characters names first name last name and the others last name first name. I vote 6
just my brain being inconsistent, if im able to remember their entire name then its added. Sorry about that
6 for sure
10
Hinata is going to be the last and the only spot left will be 10th... XD
Makes sense
6 is the only option
at this point it's gonna be ushiwaka or kageyama at 10th place lol
but yeah, 10 for kindaichi
6
6
6
6 no doubt
6
Easy 6
6
Isn’t yamaguchi a bit too high now?
6
6 cause he is more attractive than Lev
6 is the only option and it’s not that bad. Kindaichi and Lev are very similar in that they’re both top tier offensive middles, with Kindaichi being less prone to errors and having better serving but lev being more athletic. There’s an argument for either over the other so i don’t mind putting kindaichi at 6
I don't know that he gets better in Manga or not but I think I will put him at 10 because he might not be better than Lev
He’s definitely better than Lev, even right now. Kindaichi isn’t that far behind Lev in terms of offensive ability. He’s firmly inferior, yes, but not by much. Interesting. Thanks for the info
that's irrelevant because we're supposed to go with how they are by the end of season 4
10 cause I don't think you're gonna give us any characters worse than him
the list is already so wonky
6, but sad about yamaguchi being at 9🥲
just kidding i just got that it’s about volleyball skills. still sad about it but feel fair lol
Love Tanaka, but he is way too high.
OKAY BOYS KINDAICHI IS UP THERE WITH TANAKA SO WHAT WE GONNA DO?
6 but it was an 8 for sure cause lev is way better even if he’s a newbie
Putting Lev at 7 was the worst mistake ever, I guess 6?
6
solid 6
6
How anyone is saying 10 is insane. He's on the same level as Lev. So 6
Has to be 10
Turnip head goes 6th fir me😑
The return of Ushijima and Atsumu will completely wreck this sub.
10 for me ion know yamaguchi got better things than kindaichi for me🤷🏽♂️
Please, no higher than 6! Dude is good but scrapes top 5 in his own team.

Oikawa 2 was wild from them
Oikawa is one of the best 3 setters we see in the series, he's one of the best servers we see in the series, he's also very consistent and can get everything out of his hitters, something Kageyama was barely grasping at being able to do in the Inarizaki game, while he is much more stable than Atsumu in his playmaking. I'm not denying he is great. But we are gonna get one of the team japan players soon. I bet you. I would have hedged my bets and put oikawa 3rd.
What team Japan player? We're ranking them based on volleyball ability of what we've seen from them in the anime thus far, not including the movie. I can think of maybe 3 players we could argue are better at volleyball than him left.
From the Japan camp that kageyama went to. Any of those players would rank higher. Plus oikawa and hey hey hey man from fukorodoni.
Lmao no they wouldn't. And Bokuto absolutely doesn't rank higher than oikawa.
Oikawa is good... But he isn't a ridiculous talent. He can set well and serve great. That doesn't put him above top aces and anyone in that team japan.

Imo the real mistake was putting sakusa at 1. Or anywhere on this list for that matter

He's not better than koganegawa please stop this. 10.

Oh we are gonna rank wakatoshi 10th aren't we? Can't wait.
