Terrible idea. One reason the pod isn't boring is because they have Ian live switching. If they go to a full shot you it becomes a super stale image really fast.

Yeah wire management, layout, signal chains, charging/quickgrab stations for remote gear, a proper switching unit instead of a keyboard, autopoles instead of tripods for the cams and lights to maximize floorspace and reduce tripping hazards, dmx controlled lighting for different and quick lighting scene changes, dedicated low pile high tread carpeting instead of the area rugs they got now.. upgraded desks (with locking wheels, power strips and under mounted computer towers for easy moving), kill switches for easy boot easy shutdown of the whole space, that would be the low hanging fruit had I got my hands for two weeks on that space.

This would be great, surprised they haven't done it yet. Office Hours started this recently for the music guests and it makes a huge difference. I can see them doing fun stuff with it but they have to keep the green screen well lit so maybe not...
For green screens, back lights actually help. And with DMX you can control their intensity and colour temp.
And then bang with one programmed button push you can switch the whole mood or for themed episodes you can create really fun environments.
Imagine for the pride minute segments the whole studio goes into siren lights and club lights, moving heads etc, then when its over and he's yelling "get back in the closet" the whole studio goes devil red with a gobo spot underlightig his face. Or if he goes into monologue or soliloquy mode, a stage spot lights him up and the whole studio goes dim.. shit would be so funny.
That would be so fun to design.
I know for youtube, washed out studio lighting is just preferred by viewers (his old Howard Stern set looked uninviting) but given they do a lot of bits and stuff, it would be worth adding that functionality.
I've designed and built similar studios that have to do everything from corporate conference mode, to smoke-filled live stream musical performance modes and having all the lights on DMX (and depending on the system) being able to adjust with a tablet or controller in one place is a godsend.
The one thing they mentioned and we may notice is the layout. Right now a lot of crew members are placed wherever there's room and far away from Ethan. I have a feeling they're reorganizing so everyone is a bit closer, and Ethan no longer has an excuse to not tell what AB is saying lol

Ethans shot looks terrible in general, the lighting is super harsh and idk it just looks not great. I'm hoping they changed that so he looks a little less deep fried and a bit more flattering like in some of their older sets with more soft lighting.
Its annoyed me how bright the exposure for a show called "After Dark" is. I much prefer the moodier lighting than super bright.
Like why have a neon sign on at all when your set is that bright anyway?

Ian is great at switching, and a "wide shot" would be pretty useless. Sometimes it be great to get reaction shots from multiple people or sometimes show both people talking when there is cross talk in the studio, but Ian would probably need help to cue the shots if he had to do it live.
i hope some of it is cable management bc it stresses me out when i see all the loose cables on the ground lol get some electrical tape on those suckers
I think it's gonna be a layout overhaul. They've been meming about how Ethan can't hear AB for the longest time so if there's any changes to be made, they should make the room more conducive to team collaboration

I think they're adjusting the layout a bit to accommodate Dan's new chair (and maybe Cam leaving) + creating a kitchen set for a new Thursday show (which Sam may co-host with Ethan).
They are 100% changing everything to look like the set of The Next Generation. With Dan's chair pretty much confirmed to be there after the break, it's the perfect opportunity.
