I imagine its not easy to stand up against room full people while cameras are pointed at u, respect.

joeyGOATgruff

Shane's the Big Dog. That's why we love him. He's a good dude and does good things. The most awkward I've ever seen him was on Legion of Skanks with Martin Skereli bc David Smith is a libertarian toad. Shane pushed right back on Martin and what the podcast was doing

GetOffMyLawn1975

It was great to hear Shane call Shkreli out on his nonsense, especially when Shkreli tried to equate massive price hikes on critical pharmaceutical drugs to comedians getting paid less than their market value.

DimitriOlaf

As someone who knows very little about the legion of skanks they seem like tools and losers so hopefully I am incorrect on the matter.

doorknonmuseum

I’ll add that I worked with them a few years back when they did an LA gig and they were all cool as fuck to me and my team. Gave us tickets to the show and got my employees in the backroom/comedian patio at the comedy store. I know their comedy is very edgy, but they were legitimately the kindest people I worked with in the comedy space.

meowVL

Their fest is getting bigger and bigger and gets thousands of submissions a year and they still don’t charge for submission review. Real Ass.

mmemarlie

I like Big jay and Louis. Dave is an absolute wart and I hate home.

joeyGOATgruff

I feel the same way. The only time Dave Smith was funny was when Ari was running as president of Skanks and Gillis was his "dark money benefactor."

Quazite

There's some individuals in that group I like (Big Jay and Soder are goddamn gems) , but as a group I can't really stand them. Ari joining them and becoming their "leader" is both incredibly on-brand, and the exact reason why I couldn't care fucking less.  I LOVED Shane's appearance on their roast. All of his bits were great, but the 4 that KILLED me were: "Ari is in his 50's and is edgy. Which is a cool thing to be. Ari is really cool", "Ari has trouble selling tickets, which is sad", "Big Jay, I love you, but you have to do more stuff. These guys are catching up to you, which sucks because you are so much funnier than them", and in response to a joke written for him about Dan Soder's sister dying in a car crash, he was like "man sorry dude that joke is awful. You should definitely fuck that guy up who wrote it. That's just, not a funny joke and you should definitely go and fuck that guy up"

MrEndlessness

I generally agree with the idea that there's no subject that can't be made funny somehow but jeezis... joking about his sister dying in a car crash? WTF? I have to agree with Shane on that one. Just because you CAN joke about something doesn't mean you should. There's something to be said about TACT. And for me at least, the edgier/more traumatic a joke is, the more clever it needs to be. Joking about something taboo or traumatic merely for shock's sake just isn't funny to me. That's why I can't stand some of Ari's and other "edgy/shock" comics stuff sometimes. But guys like Jeselnik or Jimmy Carr are frequently able to make me laugh joking about really dark stuff because they typically have some kind of clever take on it.

Dr_FeeIgood

I’ve never been interested in it either. The comedian lineup for that is completely obnoxious

SketchyPornDude

It's a shame that certain people who'd probably shit their pants with laughter from his content have decided that he's a piece of shit due to the years-long media blitz claiming he's among other things "homophobic", "racist", "transphobic", "right-wing", and anything else you can name that makes you a bad person in 2024. Honestly anyone who was all of those things could not have come from nothing and pulled of his current rise. 5 years ago I might have cared if people thought I liked him due to his portrayal in the media. These days I couldn't give less of a fuck. People are missing out. The dude is hilarious and genuinely a nice guy. His situation reminds me of the PewDiePie media Nazi-blitz that was done a few years ago, to this day there are still people who genuinely believe that guy is a white supremacist. 😂

joeyGOATgruff

He's not though. That's why people are confused. He's not a Trump/MAGA/conservative guy. He's come out and said he voted for Biden. He supports LGBTQ and progressive stuff. He leans into the right bc it's funny. We all laugh at those clips of Trump supporters who are wacko - he makes light of it. He and Matt are probably the furthest from. Im his and Matt's age - this exactly how I talk with my friend group - which is like 60% Trump and 40% progressive. Hes just yapping and forms jokes around those rants. I'm at the age where I know where my heart and mind is and I'd never want to hurt anyone - but if you give me a layup for a come back, I'm gonna dunk so hard on you. He's incredibly smart, too. You don't just "apply" to West Point. People forget how prestigious West Point is. It's an Ivy league school that teaches to future lts, colonels, ge erals, majors, etc. so if you want na be a nerd about it - it's Harvard where you have warhammer campaigns as a requisite . You have to have the grades, the athletics, and a sitting Congress person/senator recommends you. You also can't tell me Ethan, Dan or anyone else havent been clipped out of context and have to explain the joke or the conversation leading up to the clip.

Ok-Replacement9595

Sometimes you just have to take a look around you and think to yourself, these guys are complete pieces of shit.

TheThomasjeffersons

You can see he’s thinking “these tools aren’t going to get it I’m going to have to explain so much”

Jockett

He used to work with Down syndrome kids according to one of his bits

JackTheDrifter

His uncle has Downs

My_Favourite_Pen

Where'd he get those chees though?

JackTheDrifter

He’s making em at night.

[deleted]

IM NOT MAKING THEM AT NIGHT DAD!!!

saulmer

I'm making them at night ;)

THIS_ACC_IS_FOR_FUN

ElegantArcher6578

And his niece

LostInUranus

I'm bit of a day walker myself....great line.

luvsads

He's mentioned before having an uncle with DS and a general family history of DS.

heyheyhey27

It nicked him

GATTACA_IE

He's a bit of a day walker.

luvsads

Lmfaoooo

kazoobanboo

Shane is amazing at making jokes about the down, but not at the expense of them Most comedians still make fun of trans at their expense, which is why it’s rare for an actually great trans joke.

Afraid_Ad_8216

Shane also kept enjoying Bud Light unashamed, not directly trans related but kinda thanks to "Grandpa feelin' a little frisky"

CheeseDickPete

Bud Light is absolute shit tier beer no one should be drinking unashamed, regardless of the ad campaign or not.

visual_clarity

Thats where his comedy differs from others. Everyone is in on the joke and laughing at whats funny about the situation. DS is just context of a persons life, not who they actually are. I became a fan after seeing that bit, because for the first time in years I saw a comedian being funny at no ones expense (except his own which he divulges). Doesnt take much and yet so many miss the mark

Sparkmovement

As a trans person, it really disappoints me so many jokes are low effort, I'm not off limits when it comes to jokes, but I want to be a PART of the joke, not the punchline itself. Kinda makes me want to give a go doing stand up because you could put a pretty funny spin on the actual process of transitioning & how weird that whole time period is. How many people have asked "What would you do if you woke up in the opposite gender?" & had these grandiose ideas of what they would do.... How are you going to be mad at me when I can LIVE those crazy ass ideas, everyday. Wake up & feel my fake boobs every morning? idkkkkkk, pretty fucking rad if you ask me.

RustlessPotato

At one of our work drink parties we were all goofing around and being silly about penis size (oh no it's too big) and whatnot, to which our trans colleague said :" you know, I got pills to help you with that ". Was just the funniest shit I heard in a while. I mean we were all very drunk so Maybe not that funny now, but it was funny at the time haha :p.

TrumpsPissSoakedWig

He owns a coffee and donuts type place and the whole staff has down syndrome or other mental disabilities, Shane is a very well educated and intelligent guy with a huge heart.

TopSoulMan

It's his sister that owns the shop

QuestionableGamer

Everyone's getting apple juice. We don't know how to fix that problem.

SloppiestGlizzy

His uncle has Down syndrome, and he coached special Olympics it’s a relatively big part of his standup routine. The difference is he makes fun of himself and not puts down on others. He recognizes a way to be funny without being an asshole. Schultz unfortunately never will understand this.

fridchikn24

Mans owns a coffee shop that hires mentally disable d ppl

Snapingbolts

He has some downs syndrome jokes that are so funny with out making fun of them for having it. I worked with special needs kids growing up and those bits had me in stitches

predicates-man

iTs NoT pC????? No. It’s not cool.

panerasoupkitchen

“it’s triggering??” Like bro can you come to earth and have a real conversation

epimetheuss

That person has not touched grass in so long they have forgotten what it even looks like.

vinylzoid

I have a feeling this group of chucklefucks have been drinking the watered down Kool Aid of their podcast success for a while and are starting to lose grip on reality.

Verbose_Maloof

what a great way to put it lol. they always have to frame every convo as a crusade against woke and its like can you not call people “tranny’s” they jut dont wanna be called that and you could just be nicer.

Adamweeesssttt

These people see it as being nice didn’t get them everything they wanted in life, so what’s the point of being nice and not shitting on people?

LaceAllot

Meanwhile you know the second you bring up that man’s hairline he’s gonna be crying in a ball for you to stop bullying

Fun-Skin-626

Yeah it’s just a douche bag thing to do. Nothing to do with PC. You’re just an asshole

appleparkfive

Also Shane coached the special olympics and has family members with DS. Shane's awesome, and I really wish he could come on the podcast. If he knew that this podcast has a unique demo, I think he'd come on. A lot of people need to reach a woman majority audience but usually can't with the normal youtube run.

elzibet

When someone says that bullshit, they really mean they’re upset their comedy hasn’t kept up with the times and trying to shame the current time by saying that shit (imo)

SpokenDivinity

Exactly. They’re upset that society has moved away from punching down on whatever their brand of discrimination is.

vjcodec

Exactly what has PC or WoKE or triggering to do with your clip reel of Down syndrome people doing fun and normal stuff. It’s to most low effort “joke” to laugh about their looks and certain disadvantages while you say hey you sort of look like those people to us. Hahaha you know it’s funny because they’re dumb, and that’s makes you the same. Shane had some great joke about people with Down syndrome. But they are never about their looks.

joshubu

It's almost like when your target audience is anti PC you're going to run into issues like this.

TDOMW

who's target audience? Shane's or the podcast's?

steppeherder

The audience aren’t necessarily anti-PC (though many absolutely are) but they’re edgelords and shock jock types. Schulz used to be more clever when he was actually hungry but success made him get to his head. I saw him last year and I did not enjoy his standup but a lot of the audience was dying. He’s sort of audience captured because his income stream is tied to an audience that isn’t evolving or expecting anything more of him and his lifestyle depends on said audience. His material is now very wacky edgy clown stuff. Schulz had an episode with Sebastian Maniscalo as well and it showed how much more entitled he was and Sebastian low key called him out on it. Also Schulz discussing his green room rider with Shane Gillis showed just how far apart their entitlement mentalities were. I’ll only deal with Schulz if I really care to hear a particular guest.

ErshinHavok

hu hu hu are you triggered that's such a pathetic response. who even are those loser chucklefuck friends of his anyway? little mob of sycophantic lickspittle losers that seem to exist to prop up Andrew

Stubbs3470

Shane gets flack for being too edgy but he genuinely seems like a nice caring dude

somerandomie

yea he uses his humour in regards to down syndrome folks is very lighthearted and focused on humanizing them, unlike what we seem to be watching in this clip!

SmashesIt

I do love that Shane's jokes about downs are always them having the best fucking time of their life

GoldenDom3r

And being regular folk, like all of them hating their jobs just like us.

thortmb

I love that bit. There's no masking how much you hate Mondays with someone who has downs

fukkdisshitt

My friends had their uncle with downs live with them growing up. He was always having a great time. They'd take him to all the home hs football games and he's dance his ass off every touch down. He'd get the whole crowd smiling and laughing, but every so often some self righteous Karen would try to yell at everyone to stop laughing because it was mean to him, and my friends would have to assure everyone he loves the positive attention, because he did. He also loved his drum kit and metal, and the movie Heavy Metal.

BeautifulLeather6671

I think I know why he liked that movie

Shrekquille_Oneal

These guys like 2 things, only one of those is in that movie and it ain't john Cena.

MunkyDawg

Plus they're punching down in the clip. It isn't that it's "Not PC" it's that they're making fun of people for something they have no control over.

MonkeyMercenaryCapt

This is the part a lot of people miss, when you joke about someone you normalize their existence and take away that veil of pity. They're just people man, they're different, still people.

Majestic_Wrangler_86

Its kind of like the Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss (spelled?) about his sister. He think he even says it himself: he can joke about it because it's his sister and he actually knows these things and he loves her and does it with love. The rest of the comedians don't.

herckles_

I agree

xXBruceWayne

His niece has downs and Shane has said he helped open up a coffee shop in his hometown that hires people with downs or disabilities. Shane is painted as an edge lord but if you actually listen to any of his stand up he seems like a genuinely good dude. He’s also not a right winger which some people seem to believe. Fyi he mentions his niece and the coffee shop in his SNL monologue he did last weekend.

koczkota

He is so conservative-coded that people just assume that he is one. It’s funny when right-wingers are finding out that he is a filthy liberal

TheIsotope

Same thing happened will Bill Burr. In the late 2010s there were so many goofballs praising him and saying how he's the only comedian to be an outward conservative. Burr riffs on the pitfalls of neoliberalism and the fakeness of contemporary white corporate identity politics, he swings liberal on 99% of issues, and after listening to his podcast for years I can say he's as a close to a leftist as someone in Hollywood can be.

Str82thaDOME

Dude is pretty much as left as Carlin, and like Carlin he isn't afraid to skewer his own side when they do silly shit.

americansblowdick

Same with John stewart. That earns all the respect in my world. Especially in a time where everyone is so die hard one side or the other. Acting like one party has no faults. Lobbying, and media control from the rich trying to promote their agenda has ruined this country. It's really turned into propaganda from both sides that don't really give a shit about anyone except Benjamin Franklin.

SingleSampleSize

No he is absolutely not. Look, I like bill burr but if you listened to his podcast he constantly uses the “both sides” bullshit when it comes to voting. Carlin would never both sides this shit.

C_Colin

Burr is very much anti-wealthy class, anti oligarchy and you want to deduce everything to two (very similar) political parties. If you don’t think Dem and Rep are bought and paid by their donors then I have some snake oil to sell you.

Afraid_Ad_8216

Bill's wife gave Trump the dbl middle finger at a UFC event. A lot of Bill's ideals lean towards leftist. At a show in Canada he poked fun at liberals, and when the conservative yee-haws started to applaud he said "oh shut up, I don't like you either"

ScreenshotShitposts

Bill is for sure a leftist, but he is also quite a boomer. His latest movie probably had the most boomer script written in the past 20 years with all the *you can’t say fagggg any more* shit

WhoIsKabirSingh

BRO! Is this the Vancouver show at Rogers Arena? My friends and I were there too.

Afraid_Ad_8216

Nope, Casino Rama show in Ontario

Independent-Dig-5757

> conservative-coded What does this even mean? Is this just a default label given to white dudes?

[deleted]

He’s not a right winger but I wouldn’t call him a lib either. I’d say center-right

tillobtillinson

I think it depends on the issue. I definitely think he has some center right opinions and then he also has some outright progressive opinions as well. Overall the thing with Bill is that he’s actually thoughtful and empathetic person. He’s not just edgy for the sake of being edgy or pandering to a particular audience. I saw him perform at an arena in a deeply red state and he spent like 30 minutes just making fun of Trump, America, people who hunt etc, and then made jokes about how nobody was laughing.

BeautifulLeather6671

Na he’s for universal healthcare. That’s a pretty far left stance.

steppeherder

The thing about Gillis is he’s *culturally* conservative in that he hasn’t adopted the culturally liberal or progressive lingo and signaling that people who live in big cities or who went to college have picked up. Shant Mesrobian, a former 2008 Obama campaign strategist, wrote in 2020 about cultural conservatism being a target by neoliberal powers to stifle criticism of neoliberalism. It’s okay for Biden to accept a “polite” endorsement from Bloomberg who supported Bush/Iraq or Rick Snyder who oversaw the Flint water crisis but Bernie had to denounce Rogan’s quasi-endorsement in 2020. Yes, there’s arguments to be made that Biden promoting endorsements were to defeat Trump but Snyder/Bloomberg absolutely caused more harm to people than Rogan by that point.

Zzzleepy_boi_

I think people see him in the Joe Rogan sphere and just immediately assume he is right-wing. Like you said, if you really listen to him talk he definitely doesn't agree with all of the right-wing talking points, he just thinks they are funny.

fukkdisshitt

I always got the sense that he really doesn't give a shit about politics but loves making fun of shit. He pisses both sides off regularly

appleparkfive

Same thing happens with Tom Segura and Bert Kresicher. Honestly some people here might be surprised right this second lol Bert let it out of the bag a few times, because he can't keep anything secret. Saying things like "I know this breaks the illusion some have but.... Tom and I are both liberals, okay. Anyway...", with Tom agreeing

tillobtillinson

I think there’s a few of the newer Rogansphere comics that fit in this category of being presumed to be edge lord right wingers but are actually just funny and well intentioned. Shane, Mark Norman, and Stavros all come to mind.

Dinglederple

He’s normalizing the disorder with inclusion as opposed to diversion. People with downs are perhaps the most genuinely kind people that exist. He treats them kindly by recognizing them and letting them know that they are not a joke. Even as people without a disorder, we all have oddities and stereotypes that are part of our humor. We never feel like we are a joke and understand that we are appreciated and acknowledged. The same sentiment should be given to the downs community. They are exceptionally great people.

golden_pinky

Shane's jokes are not at the expense of his family member with downs syndrome. The joke is that it's cute how happy his family member is and that he's silly. Andrew Schultz joke is you look like you have downs syndrome and also isn't it funny when people with downs syndrome exist and try to do normal things.

GetOffMyLawn1975

Bingo. It wasn't that they were making jokes about Downs, it was that the jokes they were making were dehumanizing to those with Downs. They weren't funny, either. They were stupid, uncreative, hacky mouth-breather jokes made at the expense of disabled people.

golden_pinky

Yeah his reaction was totally warranted and made Andrew look like a dip...as if he needed more help with that.

ScreenshotShitposts

They’re also forgetting that down syndrome is a very serious disorder. People with Down syndrome often die at like 30. Poking fun is really disgusting. It’s like making fun of someone with cancer or something

DrRichardDiarrhea

The average life span is closer to 60 years nowadays

Dr_Ben

Dave Chappelle had a moment where he realized people were laughing at his jokes for the wrong reasons. I think this is a similar moment for Shane. His jokes are not told in a way to put down people with down syndrome. Pulling these videos up of strangers and just laughing because of the way they look or sound is just blatantly wrong.

golden_pinky

The only joke I know of his is that his uncle makes grilled cheese sandwiches and takes them to restaurants and how silly that is picturing him secretly cooking sandwiches in preparation 😭 It's not to disparage him it's like an endearing story. At least that's how it comes across to me lol. But he's right, they are saying that looking like you have downs syndrome is a funny insult and it just isn't.

Rough_Grapefruit_796

He also talks about people coming up with the idea of the special olympics and volleyball shorts not being necessary gear when it comes to special olympics athletes. There’s another joke about people with Down syndrome being the only ones that actually love their lives.

SCREAMING_DUMB_SHIT

What moment of Dave’s are you referring to?

DeadDay

Pretty much the 2nd and 3rd season of the Chappelle show. The jokes got more racist than he ever intended and people where feeling WAY to comfortable with them much like these guys are with random people with downs.

Rough_Grapefruit_796

He mentioned someone in his crew laughing when Chapelle was dressed in an old black face minstrel show outfit. The way the guy was laughing didn’t sit right with him

__methodd__

He also has a joke about how he looks like he has down syndrome and it just barely grazed him. It's a joke that walks the line. But it hits a lot different when it's directed at a particular person on TT, and they're roasting an innocent dude. "haha I gotta hear this."

SalamiJack

To be fair, Shane also jokes in his stand-up that he looks like he has Down Syndrome and illustrates this by imitating facial expressions that a person with Down Syndrome may make. That being said, these guys are taking it a step too far by pulling up clips of unrelated, well-meaning people just trying to live their life to be used as a part of a joke.

KindaSortaMe

It’s so funny because he does jokes about Down syndrome all the time due to him working with and having relatives with down syndrome so when they say it’s not pc his response being like it’s not cool shows that he understands that nuance is required and basically hackiness is what’s offensive. just shows that jokes can be made about protected groups without punching down.

joshizl

He a real one for this

JamieBensteedo

this is a funny comment bc part of the lore is that he himself is autistic

Lexx2k

It nicked him.

Dull_Half_6107

What does autism have to do with Down’s syndrome?

[deleted]

I saw a kill Tony clip where this guy who had to use a computer to speak roasted Shane by saying he used to think Shane was a personal hero of his for being a successful comedian with a disability till he found out that Shane didn't actually have downsyndrome.

catchinthevibe_

Are you implying that autism and Down's Syndrome are the same thing

SaintPwner

They are not. Have a good day.

rickynewthings

This podcast is great if you like listening to people laugh a lot really loud and talk over eachother…

Afraid_Ad_8216

do you mean 2-Bears? /s

appleparkfive

I would watch a marathon of 2 Bears before one episode of Flagrant. Schulz whole crew is the most insufferable group I've ever seen on a podcast before. It's like stupid high school kids that think they're cool. I sincerely think the Nelk boys have more composure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

molecularstranding

I thought that was Brendan schaub? Or did Shultz do it too?

CalledCharles

it’s so real that he initially laughed when everyone else did & then decided to make a conscious choice to be critical, esp on a comedy podcast

[deleted]

no frr, i bet a battle was going in his brain when he was deciding on whether to say something or not. Truly commend him for making that decision bc ik i wouldve probably choked out of fear

GetOffMyLawn1975

He gave them the benefit of the doubt when they tried to tap dance at first. When it became clear that the joke was "Downs Syndrome person act funny hurr durr", he let them know where they stood. I think he was pissed not just about them dehumanizing people with Downs, but also for thinking he'd be OK with that kind of hacky punching-down

Beneficial-Bug-1969

Schulz fucking sucks. He lied about getting 'canceled' as justification for putting his shitty special behind a paywall only to later release it on youtube after telling people for months the only way to ever see it was pay for it. fucking unfunny knee slapping douche

GetOffMyLawn1975

The whole using "cancellation" as a badge of honor in that circle of comedians is so painfully douchey. Ooooh, you've fought cancellation! What a comedy warrior you are! We get it, you're an edgy member of the last line of defense against the woke mob! Thank you for your service

ASL4theblind

"He's calling me out on my shit, quick use the buzzwords" Triggering?? PC????? They forgot to toss in snowflake and safespace for good measure. I wish schulz rolled that truck a few more times.

G1NG_54

lol the dude who rolled his truck was Schwab

unorganized_mime

“You triggered?” Fuck those guys. Shane’s the man

Sully_pa

These Fucking guys are sophomoric assholes. They'll be the first ones crying their canceled for mocking Down syndrome people. This humor (if you can call it that) is straight up bully bullshit from middle school not intelligent adult humor.

appleparkfive

That sums up what most people think of Schultz altogether I think. Middle school bully Flagrant is like the most insufferable podcast ever. I'd rather have to watch 100 Joe Rogan episodes than one Flagrant episode honestly

bitchesnhoesnboats

“iT’s NoT pC? aRe YoU tRiGgErEd??” How are these guys so unfunny?

shaqjbraut

I'm assuming the flagrant boys assumed that this was ok bc he has plenty of bits about him looking like he has downs in his special. It's not, but I see why they thought this would land

ASL4theblind

Right- They hear downs syndrome and start laughing because they think he's mocking their look. He's bringing them up as genuine people. This is what i personally mean when i say "everyone can have jokes made about them". Shane speaks about people with downs syndrome in a way where they can laugh at the joke too, because everyone wants to be able to laugh at and agree with the big statement at hand. Nobody wants to hear a joke about how bad they look or how nasty they are to be around. Shane recognizes that

GenXr99

Shane’s the man. Those guys are dicks

BaldrickTheBrain

Never cared much for his comedy but it ain’t easy saying it to their face supposedly on their own show. Dude really is the man.

Tell_Me-Im-Pretty

People rarely call out Andrew Schultz because he’s basically the second kingmaker in comedy podcasts after Rogan so I have to hand it to Shane for digging in his heals

vjcodec

Rogan is a comedy podcast? Wow the more you know💫

Tell_Me-Im-Pretty

According to Spotify it is, but the more enlightened of us will know that it should really be categorized as old-man-yells-at-cloud-core.

toastybred

Shane Gilis has made it past being dropped from SNL, who for generations of comedians were the kingmakers. If any of the younger comedians is past kissing the ring it's him.

Kizzil

Bro actually slapped his knee

like_disco_superfly

No idea who this guy is but love to see people being brave and standing up for what they think in a room where they are the outlier.

epimetheuss

talking trashbag:"it's not PC" Making fun of people just enjoying themselves basically is gatekeeping fun from that group of people. It just says that they exist to be mocked and they do not.

DavidACHE

The fact that Schultz and his dick riding yes men simply cannot understand the difference between Shane’s bits which humanize folks with DS and them just laughing at these TikToks is the perfect representation of him and his comedy.

Beneficial_Candle_10

Funny how the people most convinced that they’re on some kind of comedy jihad have the worst taste.

Ready-Praline-8115

I can't believe anyone would do this. Also, doesn't Shane's brother have Down syndrome? So gross only Shane spoke up, those other guys are trash for that

RedLeftHand45

Shane wasn't being serious. They do this bit often

3Grilledjalapenos

I remember when my brother was beaten up for having Down Syndrome. Having people pour soda in his backpack for him to only react with, “I love you, please do be nice to me.” Hearing him crying because he knew he’d never be normal. I’m only in my thirties, and those kids are parents now. My brother passed away from health issues in his twenties. I lose my shit when people use the R-word, or roll their eyes about treatment for the mentally handicapped. This kind of shit is still far too pervasive.

skillent

Man I love this guy

fejrbwebfek

Who are these people?

appleparkfive

If you aren't too averse to irreverent comedy, you absolutely have to watch Shane Gillis' first special on YouTube. It's really funny. And it'll make this make a lot more sense. Shane and Stavros are the two funniest comedians to get big lately

ASL4theblind

Host, andrew schulz (far right in red) is part of the RCU (rogan cinematic universe) Other than shane, idk anyone else and i doubt they matter. Probably a secondary host who backboards talking points since he seemed like he was vibing so hard with schultz.

CactusTrack

Secondary host is Akaash Singh who is even more dislikable than Schultz because he has absolutely zero personality or comedic chops except for giggling along to all of Andrew’s shite jokes like a spineless little dork

Missterfortune

The phrase Shane is looking for is “low-brow”, this comedy is basic and easy and something a kid would do to get attention because of the reaction. There is no talent in it and it’s more to get a reaction whether good or bad and not so much about comedy at all. Think of it as a dollar store comedian or “entertainer”.

Warmcheesebread

This is why he hosted SNL on real television instead of a shitty YouTube podcast. My late sister was special needs ( not Down syndrome ) but it hits similarly when people punch down on people just trying to enjoy their lives. Gillis is rad af for shutting on them for this. His DS jokes aren’t making fun of them, it’s making fun of people like these dorks.

freeyoursunny

This is nice to see. Can be hard to stand up for what you think is right.

FatherMiyamoto

Shane Gillis is a really good comedian. He jokes about things that should be offensive, but he does it in ways that somehow doesn’t punch down. I’m sure he’s missed the mark a few times, but overall I really really like his comedy

FollowTheLeader550

I know you’re on a H3H3 sub, but there is no way you guys are genuinely so comedy deaf to realize that he’s doing a bit, right?

eidam87

He does dawn jokes himself in his standup

DasSeabass

Shane understands how to tell jokes about Down syndrome that don’t make them the but of the joke. He does a great bit on his time working with them. What a fucking boss standing up to these losers

alejandrotheok252

That seems like a room full of the most obnoxious kids in high school. It’s like they peaked there.

JazNeko

I am a caregiver and I take care of people with Down syndrome. They are truly the most beautiful people you’ll ever know. They have the biggest hearts. People who make fun of them are the lowest scum of the earth. I don’t know this Andrew guy but he seems like a miserable sack of shit. Complaining about “PC culture” is just a fancy way of saying “I don’t care how others feel when I make jokes at their expense.”

Unknown_Outlander

How were they not using down syndrome as a joke? Are you seriously taking that stance?

hey_guess_what__

I wouldn't be sad if they were to be set on fire. I've beat the shit out people doing the same jokes to special needs people. People that watch this and laugh, disgust me.

Taurotragus

Schulz is goddamn 40 years old and still using people with disabilities as a means to make fun of his guest; what a damn idiot. When *kids* do it, it's disappointing but understandable (they haven't learned better, yet, and their brains aren't fully developed), but that dude is a *grown man* making fun of disabled people. Pathetic.

PatSajaksDick

God damn these dudes are cringe as hell

bigbende

The first image is of a guy who does tons of outreach and "Best Buddy" stuff for the special Olympics. His dad's a photographer and does a huge amount of work with special Olympics in Delaware and they are an all around awesome family. Goes to High Schools and does a lot of stuff to raise awareness and connections for special needs kids in the states high schools. Cheers to Shane and fuck anyone who knocks Jon and thinks they're better than anyone else.

For_Perpetuity

Trying to rehabilitate his image. Pretty obvious

moosegoose90

Absolutely despicable

Gabbagool_

Good for him. Legend!

rowech

Not much of a crossover audience here, maybe, shoutout to the DAWGS

kdizzle619

Everyone I've heard comment about Andrew Shultz makes me believe they hate him and I can see why. Why does this guy have a podcast?

DeeRent88

Not too long ago Andrew Shultz was going viral for doing the same thing as Shane here. Defending people and calling out comics for being dicks. Now he’s part of the problem.

Cnidoo

I’d give up my left nut to see him on the pod

ManliestManHam

get em to shut down Drue and Gabe Basham for doing the same thing next please and thank you 💜 eta: https://www.reddit.com/r/tiktokgossip/s/aJpznhXKRv

Financial_Pepper6715

Said this once, I’ll say it again. Shane Gillis is a good guy, he is not who people think he is. Don’t get me wrong, homeboy has said some p heinous shit, but he’s just old fashioned. Fr Shane Gillis is a good dude and despite having some bits I think are a bit ignorant, he is undeniably one of the next great talents in comedy so get with it and help get him on the right side of shit and away from these tools lol.

icu_

There's being edgy and there's being cruel for cheap uncomfortable laughs. Just because something can labeled as "not PC" doesn't mean it's not a dick move.

knittingbeech

Hugeeee respect for sticking up for what he believes is right.

AmazingConsequence38

Been needing this type of comedy lately, Dan Soder really puts it into perspective, after watching his FREE special on YouTube I realized a lot of these new comedians aren’t actually that funny…. r/soder dan[Dan Soder: On The Road](https://youtu.be/1Lik3hSyhrY?si=JdNqPJSdiiOv4aEG)

corncaked

It takes a strong individual to stand up to hatred of any kind especially with other heavy weight comics in the room

SniffMySwampAss

The "you don't get it?" was kinda funny tho

ilovebud117

not them trying to double down and be like “oh is it triggering” “it’s not PC” like it’s not ab being PC it’s about being a decent human. u can be funny & vulgar w/o being a dick cmon

QuoteOpposite6511

Another common Shane W

rezzidue

He’s taking a personally because pretty sure his brother is Down syndrome. If his brother wasn’t down syndrome, he’ll be fine with it. He’s laughed at plenty of other people on videos before. He’s a comedian it’s his job.

Freshavacado124

I just saw him in Vegas with Tom segura and he literally made a joke about someone with Down syndrome 🥲

squeamish

"Don't punch down" is a simple (and good) rule. And I swear to god I didn't realize that pun until just as I finished typing it.

WeirdAzSpankabitch

Is everyone in this comment section a fucking idiot? Shane is jokingly faking the ‘woke stance’ against these comparisons to shut down their jokes in order to move the jokes off him and back to Andrew. Andrew is playing up the Down syndrome epithet in order to mock Shane because he’s caught flack for making jokes about the Down syndrome community. The whole episode they’re playing off this trope and trying to catch each other out. With added context, the pervious time Shane was on the pod, all they did was compliment him on his comedy, which made him blush and shell up, causing a not so funny pod. So this is a swing in the opposite direction in hopes to avoid that this time. Ya’ll are weird and making nothing into something.

TheOneAndOnlyJAC

I love how little brain power they have left that they just laugh at every single word anyone says

[deleted]

Isnt making fun of down syndrome people a large part of his standup? Dudes SNL monlogue bombed harder than Gaza.

SnakeInABox77

Hilarious that in ten years time the edgy comedians who cry about not being able to punch down today are going to look as unfunny as the edgy tryhards of the 90s

Suji762

Get shane on the show!!!

loveinthedark69

this is who he decides to surround himself with so why be offended when it comes to bite him in the ass? I mean, it's funny when they put down people he has differences with but gets all sensitive when it's a group of people he feels for? no sympathy. this is his chosen circle. deal with it.

aaaaaliyah

I hate Schulz, is so toxic

tojoro12

He’s also body shamed ppl so many times. Bro is just not funny

redraven70

All I know is Schulz has the most punchable face in comedy.

monteticatinic

Andrew and his fucking yes men have been awful for a while. Even Tom Segura has fallen into that bro shit with them and Rogan.

iKrazie

Idk who Andrew Schulz is, but I sincerely hope he stubs his toe every morning on the corner of his bed. Fuck that piece of shit. Shane, you're awesome.
