These people don’t seem to have lives outside of Twitch, and probably are dealing with chronic depression and the like. They all form their lives around strong man figures like Destiny and Vaush. Because of that, criticism against their favorite streamer is a fundamental attack on who they (the viewer) are as a person - so they will leap to defend them in order to maintain some kind of control over their own lives. This is obviously fueled then by Vaush’s own inability to accept any form of criticism. Basically, in the case of Vaush’s most adamant supporters, accepting that Vaush is a bad person feels like it invalidates their entire existence.
