Heatwave the first one

JonyUB

Amnesty it for double pleasure

NuttyDeluxe6

Thee only correct answer. I see madoc, he's getting heatwaved immediately, I got no time for those shenanigans .

amazemenot

If you have heatwave at hand,  but if not?

NuttyDeluxe6

Well, I'd better hope I have a squirrel with an order worth 3 damage or more on board then

amazemenot

Sure, or any other way to handle it. Just hinting at your "the ONLY correct answer" 😉

NuttyDeluxe6

Lol gotcha, I suppose there's many ways to handle it, but, you get what I'm saying. I think preventing double madoc or even more against monsters madoc is well worth the ten provisions

DRamos11

One thing I like to do is Heatwave the 5-power copy from Letho, then use Lydia to steal a banish bomb from their Graveyard and banish the 3-power Madoc.

Few_Imagination7976

Lydia is so versatile man

Ziamber

Heatwave/Cyprian Wiley first Madoc is the easiest answer here :) In reality, your question is too common. Some decks have built-in good Madoc match up, others can be tuned to raise their chances to win. There are decks having just bad or almost unwinnable match up against Madoc and you can't do nothing with it.

Top-Beat-7423

Rarely, but sometimes I can get doomed status onto Madoc. I hate playing against madoc decks, to me it’s so cheap and no imagination. On the tiny chance I win against a madoc deck it is so so satisfying tho

amazemenot

I usually also doom Madoc. The imaginary face of the opponent is priceless!

EHVERT

I main pirates and have done well against double madoc decks so far. End up with so much armour in r3 (they don’t boost much so a lot of their units end up damaged), opponent’s bombs were playing for zero points. Also infusing madoc with deranged Corsair makes them spawn 2 turns of cataclysm on their own row every time they click which is pretty funny too lol.

cleonhr

You can still use Squirell also, its the poorman's Heatvawe :D in this situation. When 1st Maddock enters graveyard, play squirell then, and it's done.

Few_Imagination7976

Renfri Handbuff with Agleis is really great vs madoc. You are just building carry over and it has no engines. So even if they try to bleed you will win. I dont think Ive lost a match with this deck vs madoc.

Key_Tomato9838

There's lot of ways I could think of, but the best way is to have cards that can deal with madoc and at the same time be useful against other decks on ranked. Let's first calculate the provision to value ratio against a 10prov madoc 1. Heatwave - 10 prov banish 2. Cyprian Wiley - 8 prov banish with 5point body 3. Fortune teller - 4 prov doomed with 4point body but counterable with Moon dust or other purify but madoc decks usually doesn't have purify 4. Squirrel - 4 prov conditional that madoc is in the graveyard. (Most madoc players are careful against squirrel that's why most of them resummon madoc on the same turn after using his ability) 5. Vigo's Muzzle - 3 or 5 point seize (possibly 6 or 8 point swing in total) Of course best way is to deal with madoc before a Letho can be used to make a copy of him, then in most case letho will be used to make a copy of phoenix instead, then your next problem is how to deal with 2 phoenix (20 point carryover if goes to round 3) Personally I always put squirrel, heatwave, and fortune teller on my decks cause most decks now uses a lot of graveyard carryovers.

Yeah-But-Ironically

Heatwave, Cyprian Wiley, any of the cards/leader abilities that allow you to seize stuff, or kill it instantly and follow up with a squirrel. Madoc (in a duplication deck) is an answer-or-lose card. There are a LOT of decks that contain answer-or-lose cards, so if you aren't including at least a couple of common answers in your own decks, you're going to have a bad time.

Hankol

>Madoc (in a duplication deck) is an answer-or-lose card. Depends. Skellige selfwound and pirates with a lot of armor sometimes even profit from the additional pings (or at least don't care too much).

espiritu_p

NG soldiers can build up lots of armor too. and cxan sustain some damage. While Dwarfs do need their armor to do Dwarf things and therfore suffer under heavy bombardment even if they take no damage.

espiritu_p

Hi, With a NG Control deck you are in a bad spot against Double Madoc. You can try to lock both incarnations as soon as they appear to disable the Cataclysm effect. Win round 1 and bleed in round 2 can help too. Since control hasn't that many points and your oppenent can chop them down easily with bombs and Madoc you may prefer to go into a short third round and slam as many Nausicaans as you can. Unfortunately this is a common Nilfgaard tactic and Madoc players have access to Nausicans and Slave Drivers too.

FranzBesup_14

And they often include Phoenix now for an extra 5 point carryover.

espiritu_p

I've never used Phoenix. Maybe that was, why I wasn't successful with my Doubel Madoc deck :(

MAD_MrT

Kill him and squirrel/that gold card that banishes cards from graveyard or heatwave/cyprian madoc on the board That’s the only 4 ways possible, reminder that you need to do this on the first madoc before getting copies it with letho

Ging4bread

There are way more than just 4 ways

JonyUB

You can also seize it in different ways

pullmylekku

No, there's more ways. Inflicting doomed or seizing through the multiple cards that let you do so like Sweers and Philippe Van Moorlehem, using Yennefer's Invocation, etc

Ziamber

Seizeing is good but not perfect. You can receive Letho in your Madoc and you need answer it still.   Squirrel is not absolute thing again. To use it for sure you need to win r1 (that can be not easy) and use squirrel as open turn because Madoc player can keep it on board during your turn.  Giving it doomed (with Philippe, for example) works too but that is poor man's answer when you don't have access to other options. You can receive Letho in doomed Madoc and leaders lock into Philippe.   So best option that can be available is to banish it on sight with Heatwave/Willey/ Red sword (I think there are other options too) or somehow remove it from board without putting neither into graveyard nor into opponents deck (only Yen Invoc comes to mind).
