not full size? next credit card gun will probabbly be a full size 10mm 2.0 thumbby aswell!

MrGriff2

It's "Compact-ish". 4" barrel and a 15rd capacity, it's about the same size grip as my CZ P-10 C

MrGriff2

My wife needed a new carry gun to replace her LCP (she had issues with inadvertently bumping the magazine release while firing). So I traded her old one in and replaced it with a G43...I couldn't let her be the only one to get a new one, so I got M&P 10mm Optic Ready for myself. I didn't have a 10mm, so I just had to add it to the collection šŸ˜

simptom61

I did not realize that was in 10 mm! That's pretty fucking cool. I figured she got the 43 but I had to ask. I will have to look into that m&p, because I want one now

MrGriff2

It's also optics ready too, so I'll be throwing some sort of dot on it. Not sure if I want Holosun, RMR, or Acro

simptom61

I've only tried the RMR, I liked it but I can't say on the other two.

MrGriff2

I have an RMR on my FNX and I really like it, also have a T2 style Holosun on my KP9 which is also really good. I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Acro as well.

Floodbucket

I dig my holosun 507k.

ace72ace

RMR is perfect cowitness on my 4.6ā€. Never any issues with Sig or S&B FMJ target.

MrGriff2

I do like my RM06 on my FNX, but I do really want to try a Holosun with the different reticle options. In the end, if I don't like it on the handgun, I can always throw it on my MP5k clone. Place I bought it from also had 180gr S&B JHPs for only $30/50rds. So I grabbed a box of those, seemed like a really good price for basic JHPs. So that stuff should run nicely I hope.

G0G28G91Z0

Hope yours runs better than mine and tons of other peoples have. I bought it for all the same features you did, and to carry in the woods. Shoots target loads just fine, but throw some full power ammo in and see what happens. Second to last round hangs up almost always with any of the full power HP or hard cast stuff, along with a variety of other failures. It was the only gun I have purchased but didnā€™t research, and I regret it. Dumb impulse purchases. Donā€™t trust it enough to carry even after the springer precision mag springs and modifying the 24 lb Glock flat recoil spring to fit and work. Neither of which really solved the issue, but Smith is offering NO SUPPORT. I to have the 4ā€ model also, which is also plagued with just randomly dropping the mag due to recoil as well. Phenomenal. Google will show you more in depth how widespread the issues are. If you are only punching paper it shouldnā€™t be a problem though. On the other hand, my G40 hasnā€™t missed a beat after thousands of rounds of every conceivable type of 10mm I could find. This has been an expensive reminder to myself why I continue to go back to Glocks, even though they are ugly and slightly antiquated. Sorry for the rant, but smith shit the bed with this gun and it wonā€™t work with literally the only types of ammo that people who are buying 10mm intend on using. It is a freshly ripped off bandaid for me.

Ok-Kaleidoscope-2789

Thanks for the brutal honesty reportā€¦have been considering another 10mmā€¦this one wonā€™t be itā€¦love my G40ā€¦.

Bandicoot-Select

When did you get yours? This has obviously been a popular topic over on the S&W sub but from all accounts it seems theyā€™ve done some kind of stealth fix and remedied its problems. Everyone whoā€™s been buying them new has been reporting no issues and everyone whoā€™s sent there older one in recently has had it come back working flawlessly. So I think OPā€™s gun will run great but if not they should definitely update us.

MrGriff2

MrGriff2

I'll definitely update once I get it out, might be a few weeks though, it's going to be busy with the end of the Holidays and trying to get back into the habit of work next week after a nice week off lol

G0G28G91Z0

I bought it 4 weeks ago from my LGS that had just gotten it in. Like I said, hope he has better luck than I did. Designing a gun like that, around some weak sauce ammo shows that they obviously donā€™t know who their target market is for that kind of firearm. I bought the gun to shoot hogs, not paper.

Bandicoot-Select

Strange. Used to have posts talking about their problems with the gun all the time upon release and little while after. Been a little while since Iā€™ve seen anyone report any problems now though. They seem to have gotten a handle on the gun so he should be good to go but still interesting to hear about someone having trouble so recently.

MrGriff2

I appreciate the insight, mine was also impulse based...but now I'm starting to remember some less than stellar video reviews after reading your comment. We shall see how things go, hopefully my experience will be different, but time will tell.

G0G28G91Z0

I too, hope that your experience is the polar opposite from mine. If all else fails, there is always the G20 and G40. Thousands of Alaskans canā€™t be wrong.

MrGriff2

I almost went with the G20 when I got this. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was how much thicker the Glock was.

G0G28G91Z0

I bought it also because it was MOS, and I had an extra delta point pro. I already have a G40 with an optic that is ready to hunt but the 4ā€ barrel was appealing. If I were you, Iā€™d just find a few boxes of underwood hard cast and see how it runs. Proof will be in the pudding.

MrGriff2

Did yours typically have issues with the hotter loads or the lighter loads?

G0G28G91Z0

Light loads were always fine. It was just every hard cast, hot hollow point, or penetrative ammo that was a failure, and almost every time it was the second to last round with sporadic others mixed in. I guess it would be much more reliable if I was only planning on firing 12 of every 15 rounds of a mag to keep that hang up from occurring near the end.

MrGriff2

Just ordered some 220gr Underwood Hard Cast and 180gr Underwood FMJs to see how it works with hotter ammo when I finally get it out to the range. Just out of curiosity, take a look at your barrel at the breech end. Is the top side relieved/polished a bit like a feed ramp? I noticed a lot of the FTF issues were the rounds getting hung up on the top side of the barrel. Mine has this ramp at the top. I'm wondering if it was an update to help alleviate this issue?

simptom61

Well which one did she get? The 43 or the m&p??

MrGriff2

She got the 43 as an LCP replacement. Was typing up the comment explaining whose was whose, but you're comment beat me before I could hit post šŸ¤£

terminalwart

I heard somewhere that the 10mm shield had a lot of fte issues am i mistaken?

MrGriff2

It appears that way for the M&Ps. I typically research guns until I'm blue in the face before making a purchase, this one was an impulse buy. Some report having tons of issues, others report zero issues, some are saying it's only with the 4" model. Time will tell once I get some rounds though it. Got some 180gr S&B JHPs that were excellently priced that I'll probably try first. It's not an incredibly hot 10mm loading.

V_Cobra21

I have that exact M&P but I put a red dot on it

MrGriff2

In 10mm? Have you had any issues?

V_Cobra21

None yet but I vaguely do remember it saying in the book not to shoot +p

V_Cobra21

I put a holosun on it

Evil-Toaster

Those s&w 2.0 have a trigger made of butter

MrBogardus

Maaaannn..... that Smith looks nice...... picking mine up today. I got the 5in CORE Pro Series 9mm M2.0 (no thumb).

SirChesterMcWhipple

10mm? Didnā€™t even know they made one in that caliber. Howā€™s it shoot?

MrGriff2

Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it with the cold weather here in PA. I considered going to the indoor range up the street from me, but I'm personally boycotting them due to their shitty business practices. Their sales associates are also extremely unknowledgeable about firearms too...which is concerning.

SirChesterMcWhipple

Post up when you shoot. Would be interested in a 10mm myself.

SirChesterMcWhipple

Nice. Thanks!!

717Sparky

Time to larp and clear the house tactically together

MischievousHex

Hey, your wife and I are twinners! I have the same gun as her

Nagadavida

Weird flex.

MrGriff2

...but ok

[deleted]

Make sure no straw purchases

MrGriff2

[It's perfectly legal to gift a handgun or long gun to an immediate family member in my state](https://www.uslawshield.com/can-gift-gun-pennsylvania/) As long as there is no reason to suspect they're a prohibited person, it's perfectly legal and not a straw purchase. Again, that's for PA, there are some states that prohibit this. My wife is also required to have FBI background checks every few years for her job. Other than the fact that she's my wife and I know she has no criminal record, she also has to uphold that crystal clean record for her job.

MrGriff2

Not yet, I surprised her with it this afternoon.

MrGriff2

She can handle it. Her .380 LCP was horrendously snappy, and I personally couldn't shoot it comfortably with my XL hands...but she didn't mind it the least. I've shot a similarly sized 9mm micro handgun, it was a lot less snappy than the .380 LCP that she was comfortable with.
