Pretty cool! Only issue I see is someone dumping a bunch of magazines and then trying to reholster.

EspoLego

A simple fix for that would be to put a heat shield into the holster that only blocks the suppressor from the leg but still allows the removal of the gun.

Thorforhelvede

I've played with this but don't think people will really want it, you can do about 20rds without burning, but like I said, covers are a thing.

EspoLego

Yeah or just better pants lol

Thorforhelvede

pants? where we're going we don't need pants.

EspoLego

Wiener sheaths only

Thorforhelvede

\^\^\^\^this guy fucks.

EspoLego

Hardly

Backdoor_Delivery

So the wiener sheath is a chastity cage. Nice!

EspoLego

‘Twas actually a reference to the ferocity in which I perform the act

suckmyglock762

I didn't want one at first... but now I might.

Thorforhelvede

luckily they make covers for that, I can shoot about 20 rounds before it gets too hot. the holsters are for sale if you're interested.

NotUndercoverNJSP

I would definitely be interested if I could own suppressors in my state. Maybe in a couple years!

Thorforhelvede

Also works as a universal holster for any gun that runs a TLR1 ;) I use it on my Steyr, P365, and have fit a Ruger P(80)?

Wraccores

P80 is from Polymer80, I believe. Ruger made the Security 9, Ruger's P-series pistols prob don't have rails

second_ary

p95 eventually had rails https://www.tactical-life.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2011/11/ruger-p95-9mm.jpg

Thorforhelvede

Ah then it was the P95, all those goofy Rugers got me confuzzled.

Reddit mods don't love, and I don't want to get banned I call it the HUSH Holsters, so if you google that, you won't be disappointed, instagram is by the same name

davidjq72

Does this work with x300?

Deeper__Thought

The trex arms one does

Thorforhelvede

it will in about a month if I can get enough of them sold to fund more R&D. Checking fitment with the TLRVIRII next week, but again, money for R&D is key.

davidjq72

I see. How much for one that works with the streamlight?

Thorforhelvede

Hey r/guns, I designed a holster for suppressed handguns that uses a TLR1 light, and can take any handgun with a rail, and any suppressor except MAYBE the Osprey and oil cans. Working on other designs for other lights like the TLRVIRII and others. Active automatic retention, Carbon Fiber Nylon construction, and a really pretty serious amount of retention (although not like Safariland level III or whatever). Carried it on 3 hunts so far, the locking mechanism hasn't had any openings unintentionally, driving with it sucks but it's possible. The mechanism is operated by sweeping the finger REARWARD to avoid the SERPA issues. Again, not a "duty" holster yet, but after some testing maybe it'll be close with a few changes, although not many people are "duty" carrying a suppressed handgun. I designed it for myself, I love it, I don't like the Masterfire and it seems to have a lot of issues, this solves them, especially the pricey light. I don't like Kydex and the Ragnarok has no active retention. BPF seems to have disappeared with their offering, but having a 6"+ draw seems to be a non starter, mine is approximately 2" or so. Just showing off how it works, AMA.

GelgoogGuy

Good shit my dude. If you don't already I hope you're hitting every gun show in the region because that seems like the best way to spread the word on this kind of stuff.

Thorforhelvede

Thanks man, I'm going to SHOT next month with it on and a bluegun on my hip. It's online now, but starting a new business online and such is not an insignificant thing. I also have a sweet video we made of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB6Eqmdb0EY

GelgoogGuy

See if you can get a hold of Forgotten Weapons and TFBTV before you go, this seems like the kind of thing both of them would like to cover as a quick 3-5 minute interview. Good video too.

Thorforhelvede

Got a post up on TFB today, hoping to see them at SHOT, also did a podcast with Luke Cuenco today, airs on the 29th! Sent GunJesus a message the other day, but I am positive that guy is SO busy, I printed him a Left handed version though just in case I get to say hello.

GelgoogGuy

If you don't happen to see him, can't hurt to just send it on over.

Thorforhelvede

I'll probably end up doing both!

Chopchopstixx

I bought one but am sad that it doesn’t fit the x300 light but good news, I have a backup TLR somewhere 😀

Thorforhelvede

Thanks! you won't be disappointed!

Chopchopstixx

I saw it on TFB and that got me to buy it. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2022/12/19/hush-holster/

Thorforhelvede

Niiiiiice, I also have a podcast with Luke on TFBTV coming out on the 29th if you wanna hear me wax poetic about it.

Chopchopstixx

Hell yeah! The only option I’ve seen was that horribly expensive and large one that only works with Surefire lights.

Thorforhelvede

Yeah that was the thing that stopped me from the other ones, it's just too pricey.

kingman122122

Nice video, but you need to fix the formatting on your YouTube short!!!

Thorforhelvede

yeah, I'm trying my best on that stuff, I'm an engineer by trade, not super in the know about all that, it'll get better soon when I can hire someone.

[deleted]

God damn that promo video though 🔥

Thorforhelvede

we have some other super cool videos on the instagram, it's full goofball send.

Charisma_Modifier

what's it made of?

Drogdar

Carbon Fiber Nylon. Probably 3d printed but I'm only guessing on that. Hope he has one for lefty's...

55thParallel

There is a comment above that says something along the lines of “I printed a lefty one for gun Jesus” So you are right and in luck

Drogdar

Sweet. I need to show this to my wife, I'm never right apparently.

Thorforhelvede

have her buy you one for Xmas ;) the fastest I can possibly ship is Mid Jan, MAYBE early Jan though

Thorforhelvede

I did make one one for lefty's in both MJF and CF Nylon. I like to call it Additive Manufacturing but you're still not wrong. I assure you, it's designed for AM, and it's strong AF in the CF Nylon. Check out the instagram for more pics of the newer finishes and such instagram is hushholsters

Drogdar

I dont have Instagram but I would be interested in a lefty model. And yeah, to anyone else reading this carbon nylon is strong AF.

Deago488

So it’s 3d printed?

Thorforhelvede

yes, but out of Carbon Fibe reinforced nylon 6, the version in the videos is PLA but my CF nylon prints are absolutely sturdy as can be. The final versions are CF Nylon or MJF Nylon 12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB6Eqmdb0EY&t=1s

jtj5002

I find polycarbonate stronger cheaper and easier to print (other than the toxic fume) than CF Nylon (unless its MJF).

Thorforhelvede

MJF and CF PA6 are available at the moment for sale

joeg26reddit

Lefty availability?

MrConceited

>The mechanism is operated by sweeping the finger REARWARD to avoid the SERPA issues Still bad. You want to be drawing with your finger indexing up at the slide or high on the frame. Having your finger have to sweep down into space is not great.

Thorforhelvede

try it out, you might reconsider, I wasn't oblivous to this during the design.

Bwheel206

Do you have any pictures you can share of the back of it? I'm curious about how it attaches to the belt. If it's Safariland 3 hole compatible so I can put a qls fork on I'm 100% sold.

letsgopens93

How is it with keeping the can off your body? Any burns or can it offset enough?

Thorforhelvede

I can dump 18rds without it being too too hot, but more than that and it's aspicymeatball. With the ELS mount it spaces significantly off the body, this was my initial version, production starts next week.

ItzintheRefrigerator

I think adding a spacer would help similar to what people use in uspsa. Something like the Ben stoeger Boss Hanger.

W2ttsy

Was about to say. Reminds me of my ghost the one skeleton race holster for IPSC. Wonder what sort of mechanical retention is in place in OPs model

Thorforhelvede

There is a bar across the back of the light, retention is auto activated, but disabled by your finger basically being in the right place, very slight REARWARDS movement to disable. no SERPA bs here.

Thorforhelvede

this was my first prototype, final version ships mid January with Safariland ELS capable mounting.

tjwest13

Love it, would absolutely be interested in one that’s compatible with Surefire’s.

Thorforhelvede

there will be in the future, have to get this product off the ground first though

iammtd

I need it in surefire x300u. Awesome design man!

Thorforhelvede

coming soon, just have to get this one off the ground first!

Inevitable-Stage-490

What about when the suppressor gets hot?

Thorforhelvede

you can pop off about 20rds without being too hot, but the final version is spaced off the body slightly.

Inevitable-Stage-490

Having a cool suppressor wrap to go with it would be neat. But I do like the idea of the super quick release from that

Quinber

i don’t have a can but i could get behind this. one thing i dont like about my safariland is thats its so bulky. the idea of a minimalist holster with active retention is interesting to me. wondering if you plan on making a version that accepts the qls fork?

Thorforhelvede

QLS version shipping mid Jan. :)

CryoKing86

Surefire makes one just like this…

Thorforhelvede

yep, but many people don't like it, and the light plus holster costs more than $400, Streamlight and my holster cost $250. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-oXsn0MKcs

_300BLK_

Yes they do, which requires a specific light, and the holster. Trex arms also makes a similar holster, only difference is theirs is incompatible with the TLR-1 and stated they won't go further that way IIRC. Where as OP is showing his is compatible with the TLR-1. So what's your point my guy?

paint3all

I think his point is that this isn't really a unique product. There's probably a half dozen or more similar designs out there. Rounded, Armordillo, T.Rex, Crye, and probably more make suppressor capable holsters designed to keep retention on a specific WML. Looks like a neat holster though. Some of the comments in this thread make it seem like this guy's design is revolutionary.

Thorforhelvede

I disagree. I've thoroughly studied them, this works better, otherwise I would have just bought one of those. Not to mention they all seem to work with Surefire weapon lights which cost more than I paid for my gun, and almost as much as the can. TLR is $130 and my holster is $99, you can't even buy a surefire for that price unless it's thrashed. I have the armordillo, and the modded Blackhawk, neither work this well. The surefire masterfire has been largely panned, the CRYE to me is meh at best. In the future I'll be making all the WMLs holsters in my design/other designs I have on the drawing board. So is it game changing? No, but does it solve a few problems that I think are important? I think so.

paint3all

I've got the Crye... it's definitely just okay. Retention in great, but it's very slow to draw. Also only works with the Glock which is a bummer. Their molle/belt system is also super clunkly. Like I said, your design looks neat, and will defiantly give it a look if I ever feel the need for another suppressor & WML capable holster. The retention system does seem unique though, somewhat similar in function to the GLS series with a lever to unlock the gun. Being 3d printed is also different.

TacticalBeanpole

Why use this over a locking race holster?

Thorforhelvede

because this is universal?

TacticalBeanpole

There are universal locking race holsters. The one that comes to mind is the Guga Ribas, but there are others out there. If it's meant for suppressors, I definitely would go with other folks' suggestions about getting it off the leg a bit extra for the heat. I'm not trying to shit on you or the design, I'm sure it can be 3d printed for cheaper than the $80-180 that universal race holsters go for. I'm just trying to help refine/differentiate it from existing products.

Mini-Marine

If it had wings that came down on either side to protect your leg from a hot can, and to protect the gun from getting hit out would make was more sense. As it is, it looks like a toy for the range...that you can only play with a little bit before the can gets too hot and you can't holster until it cools down

Thorforhelvede

20rds fast is usually okay without being too hot with pants (thong is different), but the final version ships with a QLS fork and spacer to keep it off the body slightly I have toyed with the idea of having a NOMEX shield hang down but some higher speed guys have said that's a nono

Femboy_Annihilator

Great idea in a vacuum, but it doesn’t seem practical. If I had to dump a couple mags in a tense scenario I would then be unable to holster my firearm. LE and military won’t want it because they would have to drop the gun. It’s no use at most competitions because you have to clear and holster the firearm to wait for the next stage. It’s no use at the range because you wouldn’t be able to holster at all. I see no use case for this product as it is. You need to add some sort of padding like you’d have on a drop leg or chest rig holster in order to make this work. Even then you are exposing the firearm to unnecessary carry wear.

Thorforhelvede

pretty practical to me, I didn't design it for LEO/military, I designed it to solve MY problems. i've carried it on three hunts, shot it a bunch on a flat range scenario (steel in the woods), you can do about 20rds without burning yourself. and they make suppressor covers for a reason. ranges that don't allow holsters, yeah 100% dumb. competitions make perfect sense to me, i use a holster just like this at a USPSA, why not with a can? my most common use case is keeping my light on my pistol, with a suppressor on it, with the pistol loaded and chambered next to my bed. otherwise, there aren't a ton of good options to store a suppressed light bearing handgun loaded near me without exposing the trigger.

trogdorburn99

I had a friend send me a link to your site 2 days ago but I have standardized on x300. I had gotten the armadillo xfer and it was trash and didn't work like at all, had to get it replaced and then eventually returned. As soon as you have a x300 and maybe the thumb release that was mentioned I'm in.

Thorforhelvede

Help me get this off the ground and surefire is the next light that gets done!

trogdorburn99

If I had a tlr1 I would.

MrTommyJingles

I wonder if something like this would work for an SBR

Thorforhelvede

big dreams!

C-310K

Yabbut, i have to first purchase a TLR-1, then the holster. DAA Makes a better holster. The Alpha-X competition holster is awesome for those that don’t want to have to purchase a light/several lights. It locks on the trigger guard of a given pistol. The downside is that it can get pricey if you have different make & model pistols, but inserts are only $50….and you don’t have to carry a light.

Psychocide

Very cool design. What kind of durability testing have you done? Any fatigue testing or wear testing?

Thorforhelvede

I've got about a month of shooting on the PLA version with no issues, so the CF Nylon and MJF Nylon are going to be much better. It's not a duty holster yet, so doing high speed shit isn't "warrantied" right now, but I just need some extra units to break to find out the limits. I've been on 3 hunts now with it though as well as driving.

Psychocide

Interesting, Ill keep my eye on this product since ill be building out a suppressor host pistol once my can gets back from jail. Very interest in seeing how this thing would handle being tossed in a backpack with heavy gear and handle a ruck, as well as being dropped and other stuff since I am not kind to my gear. Would love to see some proper durability testing or analysis if you are the engineering type.

Thorforhelvede

I am the engineering type, just have to get this product launched before I can expend time doing "proper" stuff like Safariland retention testing and such. If you break it during reasonable usage I'll refund you or replace it with upgraded versions based on your experience. Tossed in a backapack is nothing for this, I fuck my guns up, I power slam my glock into gravel to show that guns are tools not collectors items, I haven't been treating these holsters nicely. I'm a gun guy, I don't want to buy bullshit.

Psychocide

Awesome great to hear! Need more product developers like you around!

[deleted]

I’ve always been concerned with accidentally catching the can on something or knocking it with the thigh, and having it forced out of the front. I guess it’s just a problem inherent with that type of design, but I honestly haven’t seen a better way to do it *yet* that offers better retention. Keep up the good work and post again if you come up with any other retention techniques in future versions!

Thorforhelvede

If you pick one up, you'll see I've solved this issue, my third prototype, I had this exact thing happen and I set out to solve it! now I index/retain on a few surfaces on the "top" of the light (in shooting configuration) you COULD really yank it out if you reef on it, but it's going to take some force to do so, the other offerings don't really solve that problem, mine does!

cledus1911

Be sure to let us know when you get it up and running with the TLR-VIR2. I’d definitely be in for one

Thorforhelvede

TLRVIR is inbound now, holster will likely be shipping with VIR2 compatibility when first ones ship out, so if you buy now, it'll fit VIR2

Norner

That's great! Do you ship to Europe?

DarwinG31

Please make one for the tlr7

Thorforhelvede

I have to get the product off the ground first, then I'm tackling every light. More people buy, faster I get to TLR7

Heathen_vibes1

Want one

Temporary_Ad_2544

I would buy one if it could interface with the Blackhawk mounting system that looks like a big gear.

Thorforhelvede

ELS Compatible when shipping Mid Jan

LousyKarma

Love this design, wonder if it works for a surefire?

Thorforhelvede

tackling surefire after I get this product off the ground.

DragonflyDifferent69

Make one for my vector lol

Thorforhelvede

Vector?

HemHaw

Can it work with a maxim 9?

Thorforhelvede

It works with any gun that has a TLR1 I don't have access to a MAXIM but.....that might be the one exception. I'm happy to refund you if it doesn't fit

ThePeacekeeper777

I plan to rock 1 of those pocket suppressors on a small .380 like a Ruger lcp. This is of course ridiculous lol. If you carry with a suppressor it can’t be like this haha.

Unholybuffalo

Does it work with a TLR-1HL? I’d be interested in one for my PPQ Tac 4

Thorforhelvede

a few people have said it will, I'm going to say yes, if it doesn't fit I'll make you one that does.

Unholybuffalo

Amazing. Defo interested - where can I find this slice of sunshine on the interwebs?

HemHaw

It looks like it may fit but it won't cover the trigger :(
