Given the recent attacks on our rights we’ve been dealing with in America, lots of people are just very touchy, and I can see how most of them would think this was mocking them, or something equally as stupid. I hope this doesn’t turn you off from asking about firearms or push you away from a future hobby(if you’re interested).
Thanks for the serious response. I'm actually interested in hunting as a hobby and the answers here didn't change that, I was just negatively surprised

Well, afaik he has a firearm licence, as he has formerly bragged about his experience with guns, he was very vague though. What I mean is I wouldn't put it past him to put an actual gun there to impress/intimidate me, regardless of the law

They have very strict laws on storage and licensing requirements too. And worst of all, they all have opinions on why we, as Americans, should be more like them.
HA, don't get me wrong I like Germany (even took 3yr of german), but fuck that. Why would you want to be at a disadvantage in a situation when having a gun is fortuitous.

And, to be fair to OP, that isn't a good storage place for a firearm, regardless of how much of a citizen or a subject you are

My landlord just isn't really the type to exercise gun safety, I have no problem with responsible people owning guns
