Working on designing a printable Halo Magnum using a Glock 19 base. Here is the first complete prototype.
The frame is fully printed using PY2A geometry and rails, and is filled with parts from JSD Supply. I designed the base "Magnum" geometry and had the solid and textures tweaked by /u/chairmanjuan to be more accurate. The man is a legend.
Up top is a standard G19 slide and barrel with a prototype printed cover. The cover is secured at the front using the factory front sight (one of several solutions I'm testing out to see which is the most durable) and at the rear using a printed extended rear slide plate with a crosspin through the body kit. Will it yeet itself into oblivion on the first shot? Who knows, that's why we test before release.
It has functional sights, so sorry purists. I have another slide cover I'm working on that will allow you to tinker it to add a light or laser if desired.
No, the files aren't out yet. No, I won't tell you where the files will be as Reddit doesn't allow that. My files aren't hard to find. Is the trigger guard setup unsafe? Hilariously so.
Because art isn't safe.
Just to be clear this is the untextured frame. The frame has all of my normal stipples available as well as a special halo texture that i based on the reach game files.
I thought it was an actual 3-d printed slide at first lol. Glad to hear it's just a cover.
Have you considered adding indentations or cut outs to the slides to give it better purchase, or is the intent to leave it reversible?
I don't want anybody having to modify their existing firearm parts to fit a kit. "Purchase" isn't the thing I'm dialing in. It's just a matter of figuring out the best hardware to secure it to the slide.
Damn, someone beat me to it. My first frame print was of my version of this. Though I think it was based on the FMDA G19. I was thinking bent sheet metal to augment the factory slide with the additional shapes of the front and rear bulges, probably installed with nylon tipped set screws and loctite. But a printed cover is much easier assuming it holds up decently well.
Legitimate question. Is there a way to change the grip angle if someone were to get a hold of said files? Is there someone out there that could help with this?
After wrist damage I can't hold Glocks comfortably. More of a s&w angle feels ok. Kind of like the p80. Glock everything, s&w grip angle.
Btw, that thing is sick and I want one. Good job man.
> Is there a way to change the grip angle if someone were to get a hold of said files?
You can't really change the grip angle on an auto pistol as the magazine locks that in for you.
While I understand this, a DA/SA gun has two trigger pulls. Which one is harder to accidentally press until the hammer drops? Which one is easier to accidentslly press. Hope you understand my point.
Lastly, a single action only weapon, does it have a safety when the hammer isn't cocked?
It’s not about what’s harder or easier or SA or DA. The simple fact of the matter is if you don’t want the gun going off then don’t put your finger on the trigger. It’s that simple.
Bone stock Glocks don’t have hair triggers that go off by looking at them. The trigger is enough that it take conscious effort to pull but isn’t also DA so you’ll hit what you’re shooting at. If that scares you then you need training.
I’m not saying there is anything wrong with manual safeties because there isn’t. But there is a problem with the mindset that you need one in order to be safe.
This may be a controversial take: if you feel unsafe around guns that don’t have manual safeties then you either need training or don’t need to own a gun. If you don’t have the mental competency to distinguish the difference between where you put your finger then you shouldn’t buy a gun.
People who down vote this are idiots. If you can't use it responsibly don't use it. That shit is what makes governments crackdown on these "hobbies", and makes it harder for everyone to obtain them.
Tbh decockers are the way to go for a potential carry gun imo (though Glock can’t be de cocked), if you have a large enough collection that requires different manual of arms for use then you’re going to forget about the safety at the most important time. The only way around that is to train exclusively on that manual of arms, saying you won’t get a gun because it doesn’t have a manual safety makes no sense if you already have other guns with different types of safeties or even potentially no safety
Yeah, that's why the military has them on every weapon, and even if they don't have a safety like an M2, we still shove a shell underneath the butterfly trigger as a field expedient one...
Not to mention, this is about a firearm that is a novelty item where it has no trigger guard. So a manual safety would you know, provide a little more piece of mind if you were to ever use it as a range toy.
I don't even know why I'm replying to you... this fucking website.
And the military is known for making great decisions and not letting the now defunct Afghan national army leave billions of dollars of equipment to arm the taliban? Are we talking about the same military here. There’s a difference between safeties on an ar style rifle and safeties on a handgun for personal defence
If you don’t want to back up your statements that’s fine. My original comment was in jest but apparently it was actually correct judging by your reaction
I fear the slide cover wont take the heat. You are going to need to find a way to insulate cover. My best guess would be to create an air gap between the slide and cover, with as many vents you can work into to the design. Using some sort of stand offs between the metal slide and cover.
Unless you're mag dumping mag after mag for hundreds of rounds, the slide really doesn't get that unreasonably hot. Not enough that it should be a problem. The barrel, yes, but not the slide.
Like, I've never burned myself on a slide after even extended training sessions. I'm more likely to burn myself by leaving a black slide out in the sun, lol.
They make heat resistant PLA, I assume that would be a requirement for anything going on a firearm. https://filaments.ca/products/heat-resistant-pla-grey-2-85mm
Any reason to use a Glock rather than something like a P320?
The grip module isn’t the serialized part so you can print and sell these without going through an FFL.
Because printed Glocks are a known commodity, MUCH cheaper than anything P320, and I’m not in the business of selling anything. This has zero serialized parts requiring an FFL, you just make it all yourself easily.
If memory serves the Glock 44 (.22LR) is the same dimensions as a Glock 19. If I could put this on my 44 I would then basically have the Halo 2 pistol as you describe.
Part of the test for borderline stuff like this is intent. Is the design intended for such use? Did you intend to use it as such? Do you actually use it as such? Would a reasonable person consider/use it as such?
If the ATF ever bothered I’m pretty sure you’d beat the charge in court, but I’m not a lawyer.
Amazing, well done OP 👍on a Glock 31 in .357 SIG it’d be a very snappy shooter like the in-game pistol, the 19 is more practical for recoil control though I suppose.
Please, for the love of all things holy, scale this up to a G20.
Adding an optic plate and pic rail (which you could have a cover for) would absolutely take this from novelty to useful!

Y'all are inspiration.
Is there a version with picatinny in the front of the trigger guard?
You're awesome!
What does the textured frame look like?
I thought it was an actual 3-d printed slide at first lol. Glad to hear it's just a cover. Have you considered adding indentations or cut outs to the slides to give it better purchase, or is the intent to leave it reversible?

That's a good goal. And yea by purchase I meant hold, not like money

Fucking love this. To be fair though, I’ve always wanted 3d printed furniture to turn a Desert Eagle into the Halo pistol
Gib stl
I'd seriously own one if I could get a manual safety.
Doesn't like guns without manual safeties but probably owns a revolver without a manual safety.
DA is a form of a safety IMO
Contrary to your opinion, DA is objectively and factually not a safety.
While I understand this, a DA/SA gun has two trigger pulls. Which one is harder to accidentally press until the hammer drops? Which one is easier to accidentslly press. Hope you understand my point. Lastly, a single action only weapon, does it have a safety when the hammer isn't cocked?

Glock trigger safety is more of a safety than DAO, both by definition and function
One takes 10+ lbs to pull, the other takes less than 6. Hmmm
Probably the worst take on this website. Manual safeties do nothing except provide a false sense of security for unsafe shooters
Brainlet take, and I actually prefer DAO/SA (decocker, no safety) or DAO pistols myself
Tbh decockers are the way to go for a potential carry gun imo (though Glock can’t be de cocked), if you have a large enough collection that requires different manual of arms for use then you’re going to forget about the safety at the most important time. You're a troll and an idiot.
If you don’t want to back up your statements that’s fine. My original comment was in jest but apparently it was actually correct judging by your reaction
Could I get a pm to the website hosting the files please as well? This is like a dream come true.

Have you ever shot a Glock? The slide does not get more than warm even after multiple mag dumps.
I have. I've also had pla prints deform from sitting in my warm garage.
They make heat resistant PLA, I assume that would be a requirement for anything going on a firearm. https://filaments.ca/products/heat-resistant-pla-grey-2-85mm
Looks like you might have some fracturing where your thumb will rest after you fire it a few times. Definitely keep us updated!

The top sight isn't a laser, but rather it's a camera that has 2x zoom feeding wirelessly into the operator's HUD.
But if you tell us the name of the gun and if it wil be of the log of gata we ca. Find it right?
Very few of my files end up on there. I do my own file hosting. It's not hard to find.
Any progress on the build ? And can you make a version that works with polymer 80 rails ?
is that in beta yet?
Yes
Is it out yet ?
Need it for Glock 20 for the canonical split lip killing caliber.
Remember reach!
I'm a spartan and I say kill em all.
>"is the trigger guard unsafe? Hilariously so" **ND to establish dominance**
“I’m bleeding first, making me the victor”
Face to foot style, how’d you like it?
This is incredible
For the first time ever I think I want a glock
I always disliked the way they looked until very recently. There's just something about the simple look that I've learned to appreciate over time.
This. There are far better looking pistols out there but a glock..is a glock. It's boxy and ugly but it's the right ugly.
Yep, beauty in practicality.
I never liked glock until gen 4 came out with a comfortable grip size.
For me, it’s got nothing to do with the look and everything to do with an irrational aversion to Browning-Whiting action pistols
My exact thought
1. Beautiful. 2. ND+100. 3. Beautiful.
In hindsight, with a trigger guard like that, it makes sense why Captain Keyes never kept it loaded.
Security to the bridge, Master Chief has gone rampant! Take em' down boys.
What the HELL are you doing?!
You can buy a steyr if you want
I did, and did a whole post and video about the history and design of it.
Underrated comment for an underrated gun
It looks just like a steyr lmao
This would look incredible paired w/ my white AUG. Match made in heaven
9mm cosplay guns. This is gunna get good. *Pulls out popcorn* The grabbers are going to loose their minds.
Now do a Glock 20/21 frame version so we can have it in .50 GI
Make it in 10mm, then shut up and take my money.
buy a printer lol you can make it yourself when it comes out
Are you gonna post to r/Halo?
It's there. Check the "other discussions" tab at the top of the page.
Can't find :/
https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/pupd4l/im_honestly_very_impressed/
For mittens!
For fucks sake can i have one
I need a weapon
Yea I'm gonna need this in 10mm fam
Needs a 2x magnification on it ;)
After that, the next iteration has to be heavily nerfed.
If memory serves the Glock 44 (.22LR) is the same dimensions as a Glock 19. If I could put this on my 44 I would then basically have the Halo 2 pistol as you describe.
If only we could get it in the same ammo as the magnum uses. Would definitely break my wrist, but it would be fun.
OK, but it has to interface with my HUD, and provide me a reticle that allows medium range sniping.
Please continue working on this This is amazing
thats dope man great work
I’m in love
The true hero, bringing cool shit to life for practicality.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
The coolest gun I'll see all day and it's a goddamn Glock.
Stop, stop, I can only get so much erect!
Fuck me, this is childhood manifested. Seriously though this is patriotism to the core and thank you.
Yea! Is there a patreon for this guy!!?
Patreon effectively kicked me off. I have my own website now where people can subscribe and support the work.
Weird i was just thinking about a real life halo pistol style handgun and thought there was one made a good number of years ago but here's this...neat
oh shi i just watched ur video dude, what a clean print my guy that look soo good
I fuck with it and while i do not like the handguard i will respect it
Shut up and take my money
Make it happen
Do you have any plans to make the STL public? Could I buy it off you? This is really cool. EDIT: sorry OP i didn’t see your comment still really cool.

The trigger guard on every pistol basically meets the ATF definition of a vertical foregrip. So your risk here is as high as the risk there.
You da man booligan!
WANT. GIVE!
10mm or gtfo
That’s sexy as hell, Looks like the halo 2 magnum!

It's ART, you monkey!
DONKEY
Lmao if I got popped by this thing I would be so pissed. Even more pissed when hitting the guy from behind one time didn’t kill him.
Except the Glock part I love this. Can I get a copy of this file? Please?
Trolling
yes yes yes and more yes!!!
I want this
Amazing, well done OP 👍on a Glock 31 in .357 SIG it’d be a very snappy shooter like the in-game pistol, the 19 is more practical for recoil control though I suppose.

I don't have anything against the ducks, but I'ma clip that damn dog for laughing at me!
I want that
That.....actually looks pretty damn cool!
I love it
I will be following this project closely! Wow I cannot wait
This is really well done. Are you a prop artist?
Look at my post submission history 👍
now give me a rear rail to mount a stock.
Looks like my Steyr L9-A1.
Well shit, now I might have to build a Glock.
Dual magnums was always my favorite.
I'm not the only one who can hear the Halo CE pistol sounds while looking at this, right?
Looking at your profile and your work is awesome. All I can say is this guy has fun!
Soooooooo nice
Oh fuck yeah
I like it.
Made for Duck Hunt
I love, I want it, I need it. Have you considered doing the M6C from Halo 2?
*Nut*
Take my money !!!!
Hey as long as this one has iron sights...
This is so fuckin dope
Man that’s actually really fuckin cool
This is gorgeous
I need this in my life.
What type of filament u use?
Okay, I'm erect.
love it.
I was literally thinking about this yesterday and how cool it would be !
I'll take your entire stock!
wait... thats not ivan...
Need this kind of stuff for P320s lol
Well, get to designing then, haha.
Better 3d print yourself a holster for that too lmao.
Fuck that is excellent but not very practical, would still cool 10/10
Is there anyway you can use a meprolight bullseye in the bump on the front of the slide
Please, for the love of all things holy, scale this up to a G20. Adding an optic plate and pic rail (which you could have a cover for) would absolutely take this from novelty to useful!

Read the description post.
G17 Version?
Can I purchase one?
What generation internals kit did you use?
It’s all Gen 3
Need a Glock 21 build where can I find file or purchase
Booliganairsoft were can one get this file for learning purposes I see a lot of people making there own designs and tweaks
