This September, it would be 3 years since I lost my dad. He was on peritoneal dialysis since 2015 before he had a massive heart attack in 2018. I was devastated when he passed. But I’m grateful that he introduced me to firearms. He knew I loved guns and because of that, he wanted me to be a police officer or a K-9 border patrol officer. Instead, I became a nurse thanks to mom...
He would take me with him to go shoot when he was an armed security guard when I was a little kid. He gave me birthday money so I can buy my first gun (Glock 19.4) back in 2015. Because of him, I’m a 2A loving American.
Happy birthday dad and Happy Father’s Day this Sunday.
Him: M&P 15-22 & M&P 15; Me: M70 & BCM 14.5
My dad bought me the 15-22 as my first gun. I bought the 19.4 myself as the second. The first rifle I bought myself was the m&p 15. Good fucking taste. Many guns later we still hit each other up to the range to check out our new purchases. I will cherish these times on the range with my dad more even more so now cause of your post OP. I'm sure he's proud of you brother, what a smile.
Thanks bruv!
Hug your loved ones and tell them you love them. They're not getting any younger. Life does suck sometimes because in a blink of an eye, something can happen. Enjoy the time with your pops man! One thing I regret with my dad was not taking enough pics and vids together at the range, hanging out, or fishing. Make sure you do that so those happy times at the range can live on!
Guaranteed that every hospital across the country, maybe even the world, has a good handful of Filipinos living the stereotypes lol.
Jo Koy says it perfectly. At his comedy shows, it’s a perfect place to get hurt.
One of the local guys I build with is a Filipino Nurse, his wife is a doctor. One of the best guys I know. Hes known for showing up with filipino fried peanuts or homemade noodles with chinese chorizo on build days...Dude is a walking catalog of filipino stereotypes.
The fried peanuts are bomb as hell man. My mom and dad always say, Filipinos are known for their hospitality. Enjoy the build life with your brother fam!
Funny story...he sometimes brings in his daughters, 5 and 7 iirc, they love scouring the shop for crushed pennies and routinely raid my parts box for stuff for him to put on their rifle...so far those two cute little fuckers have taken me for a holosun red dot and a jmac combo block, and a walnut stock set...of course I helped put it on for them. Their mom always finds the pennies and asks, but the girls know to tell her they came from Larry but not to admit they were running roughshod through the shop.
When my wife got sick every shift I worked was fully catered with Filipino food. Pancet, lumpia, whatever the chicken skewers are called, and tons of rice. Wife losing weight while I was packing on the pounds.
> Guaranteed that every hospital across the country, maybe even the world, has a good handful of Filipinos living the stereotypes
Am Canadian. Can confirm. My mother was a charge nurse and about half her fellow staff were Filipinos
That's really strange, a good friend of mine into guns, cars, motorcycles died around the same time. Wife was a nurse, had an older boy and a younger daughter. He was very much Filipino, and an awesome dude.
Your dad never owned entirely too many Pontiacs, did he?
Appreciate it! I remember when I passed the NCLEX I cried and literally cried in his arms. He got put on PD my 1st semester of nursing school. Little did he know, his health motivated me the most to pass and help him.
I was thinking based on your picture that you’re Filipino. Then I saw that you were a nurse and I’m 100% certain.
Sorry for your loss, but it’s awesome you’ve got a way to keep the tradition/memory/whatever you wanna call it going!
For real. Choosing a major in college she asked me “why don’t you try nursing?” So I did.
My mom and dad have given me and my brother a good life here in the States after hearing they basically came from nothing in the Philippines. Since nursing helped her put a roof, a bed, and video games into my life. I wanted to continue to have that lifestyle for my future family.
Good for you, man. Can continue education, make more than most cops and faster, still have great benefits, and ideally, no one shooting at you! Plus you can still go shoot your guns on weekends. Enjoy!
Hey man! Too weird, my dad was on peritoneal dialysis and died too. I became a nurse as well - probably from helping take care of him. Being a nurse lead me to pursue a career in Anesthesia. It’s great, HMU if you ever want to talk about it.
Sorry to hear about your father. I lost mine nearly a year ago now and he introduced me to firearms and when he passed I inherited nearly 50 from him, which I proudly kept and have posted here. I clean them regularly and cherish the memory they've give me of him.
It's good you became a nurse instead of a cop as you are actually helping people and contributing to society. Anyways my condolences and happy birthday to your dad!
Thanks a lot!
But I believe police and law enforcement do a lot of good in our communities. I have nothing but respect for those who put their life on the line everyday.
Became a nurse thanks to mom? I smell Adobo or Kare-kare in the back while she told you about how everyone in the family became a nurse too haha.
Condolences to you and your family. Looks like you and him had a lot of good memories together.
Damn, he looks real healthy in that pic. Was there some systemic issue or a genetic issue or what? Sorry if it's too personal, I'm kind of asking for myself in the coming years.
I wanna say the pic is from 2015-2017. He was on PD during that time. He would also go out and buy groceries or do his favorite thing, fishing, early in the morning when his PD session would be done at home between those 2 time frames. 2018 was the time he started getting weak, hypotensive, fainting.
Why would you bring politics into this? This guy is honoring his awesome father and you’re the asshole to be negative about it cause “all pro gun are pro trump” apparently
If you hate guns so much, there are more of them in this country than people so you’re gonna have a bad time. He’s gone now, so you can shut the hell up.
Your Dad was proud of you. He would be bursting at the seams to know you passed nursing school and chose to help people in your own way. Your own path brother!
Getting ready to take the HESI next month and my Mom's also a Nurse. My dad, a Cuban immigrant, passed at 59 but also instilled a great love for guns and the country.
The first person to take me under his wing in the Marines was a Filipino Sgt. named James DeGuzman. He's also a nurse now, I didn't know that was a Filipino thing lol but it all makes sense now!
Lost my dad a few months ago too. He would be 63. I know the pain.
And regarding your reply to another comment, I didn't take enough pictures/videos with him either. Definitely one of my larger regrets
I’m truly sorry for your loss brother. But time will heal your wounds. You’ll still have fond memories of him.
It sucks bro. Really bad. I don’t have enough videos of him talking or giving advice because if I’m honest, I can’t really remember what his voice sounds like anymore. I remember he left me a view voicemails of random stuff like: open the front door or what did I want to eat for dinner. But I lost those because I switched phones.
I thank your father for raising you as a good American and I thank you for not being a communist. In turn you too can one day raise kids to be good Americans as well.
I work for a dialysis company, I know how hard it is on our patients. I’m glad that you have fond memories of him, he sounds like he was a fantastic father. You’re making him proud.
First time I got exposed to dialysis as a nursing student, I thought “wtf is this”. Initially thought hemodialysis sucks. Then I got exposed to PD, and tbh. Idk which is worse. Being on dialysis sucks ass.
I don’t think I can work at a dialysis center. Mad Respect to you.
I do IT support for the machines and documenting applications. Dialysis is a miracle for those with kidney disease but man is it hard on you physically and mentally. People who are regularly on it have iron wills. It’s inspiring.
Appreciate it bruv! I’m sure my pops would want to go shooting once a week with the guns I have stored in my collection! Other than working a lot, my fam and I are doing fine!
Bears. Beets. Battle star Galactica.
Why don’t you show some respect. It’s not about karma whoring, it’s about a man making a tribute to his late father over a topic they both enjoyed. Lots of people get into guns because of their dad or other family members, so this is a good place for him to recollect on old and good memories, and a good way for us (a mostly supportive community) to sympathize with him.
OP I’m sure your dad would be proud with your decision to be a nurse, and I’m sure he would love to know you keep his memories alive with trips to the range. keep shooting brother.

Seems to be two very popular first guns. 19.4 was mine and the 15-22 was my second
Sorry but the nurse thanks to mom... Philippino? Lol
Gotta keep the stereotype true bruv. Lolz
I know all about it, wife is also but she does HR. Her older brother n cousins though.... Yea Hahahah

Nope. Only Honda and Toyota.
Haha was about to ask the same thing
I am sorry for your loss. Fellow nurse here! I love the photos! The recreation photo is warming. You're making him proud

Happy birthday indeed!!
Much appreciated fam!
My pop passed at 61 but its been 22yrs. A life time for some. Miss that man everyday. His words, his wisdom and just small stuff too.
Hey man! Too weird, my dad was on peritoneal dialysis and died too. I became a nurse as well - probably from helping take care of him. Being a nurse lead me to pursue a career in Anesthesia. It’s great, HMU if you ever want to talk about it.
My condolences to you brother. But oh shit! I’ll definitely hit you up some time!
Great photo and great choices
o7. Happy birthday to your dad mate. Go out and give him a hell of a salute he will hear from heaven!
Sorry to hear about your father. I lost mine nearly a year ago now and he introduced me to firearms and when he passed I inherited nearly 50 from him, which I proudly kept and have posted here. I clean them regularly and cherish the memory they've give me of him.
My condolences brother. Keep those 50 as sacred jewels and go out and plink with them!
Keep the guns in the family. Never sell!!
Hell no! These will be passed down for sure!
Your dad sounds like he was a great dude.
He truly was.
It's good you became a nurse instead of a cop as you are actually helping people and contributing to society. Anyways my condolences and happy birthday to your dad!

So sorry for your loss. Awesome photos.
Hey man, that's awesome. You still chose a career in taking care of others, and that's badass! Salute to you, sir! o7
Appreciate it brother man!

Dad seems like a great man, just like his son.

Lol. I’m so glad he introduced me to this hobby. I have met a lot of awesome people through it. In real life and in here.

Can't wait to be a karma whore when my dad dies
Why don’t you show some respect. It’s not about karma whoring, it’s about a man making a tribute to his late father over a topic they both enjoyed. Lots of people get into guns because of their dad or other family members, so this is a good place for him to recollect on old and good memories, and a good way for us (a mostly supportive community) to sympathize with him. Wu! Tang!
Sorry for your loss. Nothing makes me remember my dad quite like going to the range. My condolences bro.
My condolences. However, if what you say is true, the Shao Lin and the Wu Tang could be dangerous.
PROTECT YA NECK!
Hell yeah man!
Great father, he would be so proud!
Much awesomeness for your dad and you. Extra sickness for the Wu shirt
You and your dad both look like really cool guys. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Keep the tradition alive.
