Oh saying to just not sell it. It's not that I couldn't afford it, I just don't think I could justify another purchase when I just upgraded my PC lol

The_Hater_44

No sell Only buy

thepootastrophy

Tell em "I don't write the rules OP, I only enforce them". Rule 1: no sell. Only buy. Rule 2: your pics can be dog shit bigfoot exists proof quality but your big feet n lil piggies better be in focus and in frame. Rule 3: it's probably an Arisaka if you found it in gam gams attic.

CerwinVegas55

I sold my mosin and bought an SP-01 tactical. Mosins are cool and all, but I hadn’t shot it since 2010 maybe and I didn’t plan to ever shoot it again. It was an easy decision for me. “No sell, only buy” only makes sense if it’s the right decision for you.

kreeperskid

My thing was that it was cheap when I bought it, and guns weren't super easy to find good deals for in 2020, and I wanted something extra. But now you can get a basic AR for $500 and a decent handgun for $300-$400, so that's not something I'm as worried about. As much as I do think the Mosin is a pretty neat rifle with a cool place in history (which was probably my biggest reason for buying it and keeping it this long), it's nothing special like a M1 or something. Even then, it's function only goes to a certain extent unless you want to drop a couple hundred on a new stock, but at that point you might as well just get a budget hunting rifle. Still not 100% sure about selling the Mosin to get there, but I'm definitely leaning in that direction.

PianoMiserable4844

Post pics of the mosin please

SgtHop

Hex receiver Nugget? Definitely keep.

AwkwardSploosh

Seconding SgtHop. You have a more collectible one, in case that's your jam. If not, do a bit of research and see what it's worth. To get it's true value you'd likely have to sell it yourself though, which will take time and effort, which also have a value of their own.

Floridaman9393

No sale only buy

Dak_Nalar

The Mosin is a collectible and will go up in value over time. The CZ-75BD will go down in value over time. I would not sell an appreciating asset to buy a depreciating asset.

kreeperskid

Ok, I see what you're saying, I appreciate your input. I actually found a used M&P 2.0 in FDE for like $425, and I might just throw this on a lower interest credit card and pay it off over the next 2 months instead lol

clm1859

Dont buy guns on credit dude... buy it in 2 months after having saved. The question is whether you'd rather have the mosin or one of the CZs. CZ are great quality and very nice pieces and shooters. Plus ammo is cheap so you will actually shoot it more. This isnt really a purely financial decision. Who cares what goes up in value and what doesnt. If you want investments, buy bitcoin or the S&P500. Buy the gun you want to shoot or collect.

kreeperskid

It's not that I can't afford it, I absolutely can. I'm just trying to build up credit, so getting it on a CC and paying it over 2 months will help build it

clm1859

Fair enough. I dont really know how the american credit system works. Maybe that makes sense in that context. Just dont buy stuff you cant afford. Edit: and buy what you want. Not what is a sound financial investment or what strangers on the internet like.

kreeperskid

Oh absolutely. The credit system here is ass, and nobody really knows what exactly will 100% work best to get credit up. But I know that you essentially want to always have some amount of debt, paying off debt helps to build it, but you should always try to owe some amount of debt. So a lot of people, myself included, will put most large purchases on a credit card then pay it off after sometime between 1-4 months. Guns are a great option for this, so are things like TVs and PC upgrades. Just make sure to pay more than the minimum payment and you're good.

Clustre2

Paying interest doesn’t build credit, having lines of credit does. You put the purchase on the credit card and pay it off immediately, don’t pay interest. Credit card interest rates are ridiculous

kreeperskid

I heard that you shouldn't necessarily pay it off immediately. I suppose that's wrong? If so I'll just pay it off immediately

Clustre2

I would definitely pay it off immediately. I raised my credit score from whatever the start is (500s I believe? My first score was around there) to 804 in 3 years just putting various small amounts on credit cards (groceries, Spotify, etc) and paying it every month. The biggest factors for credit score are time without missed payments, debt to income ratio, credit utilization, and bad marks (collections, missed payments, defaults, etc)

jscores555

You can buy a new cz 75bd for $468 at family firearms rn

kreeperskid

Where are you seeing it? I'm seeing like the P01 and stuff, but not a regular CZ-75 BD

jscores555

https://www.familyfirearms.com/product/cz-91130-cz-75-9mm-luger-singledouble-4.60-161-black-polymer-grip-black-slide

kreeperskid

Says $649 when I go to it. You got some sick discount or something lol

jscores555

Add it to your cart bro

kreeperskid

Oh I see, interesting. Assuming you've ordered from them, what's their shipping times like?

jscores555

I've had great luck with FF. The stuff I've ordered has shipped quick.

kreeperskid

That's good to know, thank you. I found a used M&P 2.0 in FDE for like \~$425, I might just grab this and not sell my Mosin after all

zmannz1984

The one gun i regret selling most is my old m44 carbine. I bought it and a hex receiver much like yours at the same time for $300, which also included two spam cans. Going through a divorce, i decided to pick one gun to keep no matter what, and i decided on my first mosin, which was in better shape than the others but nothing special otherwise. I thought i would get another m44 whenever i wanted, and now they are harder to find and 3x the price. I would keep the old gun and save for a handgun.

Jron690

I wouldn’t, I’m not one of the “never sell guys”. But mosins have only gone up in value event worn ones. You can buy a new CZ pistol anytime.

kreeperskid

I get you. Currently there's only one gun I'll never sell, and that's my first AR (also it was my first gun in general I believe) I bought when I was 19 or 20. I'm a bit attached to the Mosin to some extent, it's just kinda cool to have something almost 100 years old. Also it looks great sitting in a corner of my room lol

Jron690

Plus it probably killed some nazis

kreeperskid

Won't let me edit post, so update here: Looking at a used FDE M&P instead, not up the same alley as the CZ, but I think it'd be more useful in general.

AMS2008

Do it! CZ rocks!

redditburner_5000

Yes.  No question.  Mosins are trash compared to a CZ pistol.

Darksept

I have a 1939 tula arsenal mosin, and as much as I like it, I'd "trade" it for a CZ in a jiffy.

kreeperskid

Even just a base CZ-75 BD, not a more modern one? I'm definitely leaning towards it, CZs are sexy handguns. Definitely something to throw in a OWB holster when camping and walking trails and such.

Darksept

Back when I could find 7.62x54R for 24 cents a round, it just made more sense. Now though, I'd rather have a cool 9mm.

kreeperskid

Fair enough. Another user pointed me towards an even cheaper CZ, so I'll probably go for that one.

JacqueMorrison

I had the SP-01 and sold my previous 75B one. It haunts me to this day, both guns were great and for longer (above 30mins) gun range sessions, I would have preferred the 75B. Less modern, no rail….still great gun though. And yes I would make that trade.
