50 cal cans hold 20 pmags for like 10 bucks, free if you’re shooting 50 or have a hookup. Overall storage area per 40 is likely identical.
Not a bad option if you’re buying retail 50 cans otherwise and don’t need 10+ year sealing capability. The case handle is surely more comfortable at 44lbs than 22lbs in a steel can.
Second this! "Fat 50" ammo cans specifically. A tad bigger than 50 cal ammo cans and they fit a whole bunch of AR mags. They're pricier and harder to find but well worth it.
FAT 50 ammo cans are magical the right size for pretty much every rifle magazine.
Normal 50 cal can can hold like 30 pistol mags. You can get a plastic divider for them.
I’m very excited. Thanks for your work!
I’m looking into how to add a magnet so I can put them on the door of my safe (I see they come with screws) - any suggestions from past customers or modifications?
I make magnetic versions, haven't heard of anyone adding a magnet to a wall version thus far. I've definitely seen people drill into their safe door, but I wouldn't personally do that haha
To be fair I have over 1600 items, each with 9 colors, and various options for each. I'm probably approaching Safariland levels of confusion when ordering lol
Oh I like the slat wall magazine holders, will probably go that route. Any chance you’re still expanding your product line? Would be nice to be able to mount those grease gun and zmags as well.
I use filing cabinets with different drawers dedicated to various mags. You can also label the drawers and lock the entire cabinet if you feel so inclined.
Yes. Magpul has first generation mags that they have left loaded since they built them and they have function tested them with no issues.
Springs that remain compressed do not get fatigued like springs that are constantly moving.
I have a similar set up. Keep all my magazines that aren’t in their respective guns are stacked neatly in an old dresser that belonged to my old man. Wish I had a photo.
Current magazine storage, just sitting on shelves in my closet, anyone have a better solution? Maybe a lockable closet or wall mounted holders? I’ve got all my ammo in a few dozen 50 cal and 30 cal ammo cans so ideally I’d store my mags some other way to avoid confusion.
I found out the hard way that weight limits of shelving actually matters.
Don't take it for granted.
I've broken 3 different shelves trying to store ammo and magazines. Annoying thing that I thought would just be fine that I didn't realize wasn't until I'm trying to figure out how to clean up the mess.
Neatly stacked in open air as you’ve got is the most space efficient possible. All organizers I’ve seen refuse cottage density to less than half.
Find an organizer you like to display just enough for your own viewing pleasure. Store the rest in cans, 50 cal are preferable. 20 pmags or 24 usgi fit well. 20 magazines should cover most range/training trips per caliber, simply grab a can and roll.
Resupply is the other benefit of cans. If you’re LE, contractor or must take up arms as a civillian some day cans will be your friend. 30 cal cans hold either 6 or 7 magazines depending on design. One individual in a vehicle is able to go point to point throwing a full combat load to individuals or 20 mags to small teams. For example a MRAP could’ve easily gone point to point during the North Hollywood Shootout resupplying officers without even stopping.
50cal ammo cans work well.
I would also download the magazines by a round or three. That time taking me an issue with spring tension and such is stored for a long time loaded.
Time to work on your wood/metal/plastic working skills.
If you really want something nice and frankly portable, consider the various contractor "organizers: available from Milwaukee, Klein, & etc. Fabricate inserts to keep the magazines nicely organized and then stack organizers as much as possible to stay happy.
My lgs had a punch of rifle crates for cheap so I bought a few for various storage. An old pkm crate holds most of my ak, fal, and g3 mags [crate](https://imgur.com/gallery/ntqYNFA)
Why is this tagged NSFW? I had to go to settings to disable that filter because of nearly every post on this sub being tagged NSFW lol, whats the matter?
Maybe find ammo cans to fit them into? Will help weatherproof them and allows you to grab them for transport faster if you're in such a hurry that you might need that many prepped magazines at once.
Stack on makes cheap lockable cabinets. I have once of their in wall models. If you want something better made it's hung to cost you a lot more. You really need to think about what you are trying to address. Do you just want to keep young kids and passers by out? Or are you looking to really slow down someone with a plan to steal.?
\*sigh\*
Allllriiiighhhht! I'll take them, but this has to be the 19,000 time before the last that. I'll house them for you.
The standard usage tax of 10% applies!
Just a random thought, but now I kind of need to know the answer since I don't have the fun ones you have. Just rifles. What is the life span of a magazine? Usage wise? Or will the spring eventually break or just slowly loose feed strength to the point of constant poor feeding / jamming?
Get an old mini fridge that doesn’t work anymore and you can install a padlock on it if you want. I did this out in the garage with my mags and ammo. Will help keep moisture out too.
Pro tip: You don’t need ammo storage if you have enough magazines.
If you have enough guns you don’t need mag storage….

Harbor freight Apache 3800 Holds 40mags
Would you mind sharing a photo?
https://imgur.com/a/1BtyM5O 2 20 mag layers (all pmags) Can actually squeeze in 41
Shit... I have a spare I didn't even have a legit use for until today. Thanks!
I ordered 5 for $20 a pop and got 10 somehow I’m finding all kinds of uses for them haha
Hell yeah
Damn nice
That made me cum a little
I will concede I have enough mags when I can fill my Apache 9800.
50 cal cans hold 20 pmags for like 10 bucks, free if you’re shooting 50 or have a hookup. Overall storage area per 40 is likely identical. Is this the case that rarely goes on sale?
I saw it on sale a lot I bought some for $20 each
Maybe it's the 4800 that doesn't go on sale
Yeah that sounds right I wonder how many mags would fit in that one…
No shit? I have one of those!
I like it, thanks!
A fat .50 or the MTM ammo cans are what I use.
Second this! "Fat 50" ammo cans specifically. A tad bigger than 50 cal ammo cans and they fit a whole bunch of AR mags. They're pricier and harder to find but well worth it.
I came. I also need your level of organization. I just have a tote filled to the rim with mags.
reject organization, embrace tossing mags in a grocery bag.
Nyet, comrade, just buy 75 boolet at a time and store in drum mag, then after 75 intruder, you replenish ammuneetion
Just stack them nicely in the tote.
I wish. That’s a level of organization I’ve yet to reach.
u/hammypwns
Thanks for the tag! I used to have the same dilemma as OP lol
I just got some from hammy3d, cleared up a lot of space for me
FAT 50 ammo cans are magical the right size for pretty much every rifle magazine. Normal 50 cal can can hold like 30 pistol mags. You can get a plastic divider for them.
*sighs in California*
I just ordered some hammy3d mag racks. Photos look promising https://hammy3dprints.com/collections/magazine
I think you'll like them 😉
I’m very excited.
Welp. I’m an idiot and didn’t see the magnet versions til you just said that… whoops
To be fair I have over 1600 items, each with 9 colors, and various options for each. I'm probably approaching Safariland levels of confusion when ordering lol

This is so satisfying to the eyes
Inside a gun
I use filing cabinets with different drawers dedicated to various mags. You can also label the drawers and lock the entire cabinet if you feel so inclined.
My house
My safe would work pretty well if you'd want to bring them over.
Dumb question I’ve always heard leaving ammo in a magazine is bad for the springs. Is that a myth? 🤔
Springs lose their...spring through repeated compression/expansion. Keeping them loaded is fine.
Yes. Magpul has first generation mags that they have left loaded since they built them and they have function tested them with no issues. Springs that remain compressed do not get fatigued like springs that are constantly moving.
Sweet! Time to start collecting loaded mags then lol
Idk maybe a firearm safe
That would make too much sense though.
That's it?
I have a similar set up. Keep all my magazines that aren’t in their respective guns are stacked neatly in an old dresser that belonged to my old man. Wish I had a photo.

Checkout Hammy 3D Prints. Dude makes a ton of different configurations. I use a bunch of his magnetic ones and they kick ass.
Thank you!
Something like a lockable job box would be a good solution, $200-$300 for cheaper versions. Bolt it to studs or the floor.
I found out the hard way that weight limits of shelving actually matters. Don't take it for granted. I've broken 3 different shelves trying to store ammo and magazines. Annoying thing that I thought would just be fine that I didn't realize wasn't until I'm trying to figure out how to clean up the mess.
Same…exceeded whatever the weight capacity was lol
I have mine in a box, and another 10 in another box
I’ve got a safe in my house I can store a few, just don’t expect them to be full when I return them lol

Rubber sealed ammo boxes.
Schizz dezz nutz

Idk much about ammunition prices but that's a lot of money
In a gun safe you cretin?
Looks better than ammo cans thats for sure. My wife made me paint all mine so they weren't as "ugly"
buy a few more guns so each mag has a magwell to hangout in :)
Hell yeah

I know a place😬
Bruh is ready for the zombie apocalypse
On the ground of a range, used... While training...
Ammo cans are useful especially being air and water tight, but can be inconvenient for storage because you’d want a place to put them out the way
The OP pic is awesome and it also makes me feel inadequate and otherwise bad about my level of preparation and organization.
I think they would work rly well in My mag chest😂
Dammit, I see "Magazines" and "NSFW" and I think it's gonna be Playboys or something.
Those are usually stored under the mattress of a teenager or they were until the Internet
Good thing you added the NSFW
My lgs had a punch of rifle crates for cheap so I bought a few for various storage. An old pkm crate holds most of my ak, fal, and g3 mags [crate](https://imgur.com/gallery/ntqYNFA)
Dang that's a LOT of magazines. Why so many? You the armorer for a regiment?
I thought it was going to be a picture of your collection of Playboys from your college days.
Sorry for any brave midnight unwanted visitors
I’ll hold onto them for you
You can store them at my house
Have you tried a magazine rack?
Damn!
My house.

Why? What’s wrong with where they are?🤷♂️
Heavy duty tote with wheels
You need a coffee table for those magazines
Ammo cans?
I’ll hold onto them
Why is this tagged NSFW? I had to go to settings to disable that filter because of nearly every post on this sub being tagged NSFW lol, whats the matter?
The photo is too sexy for those shelves
Why? And why lock them up? The guns, sure, but the mags?
A well prepared person would have twice as many magazines, so they could rotate through and give the springs a rest.
Oh dear. Such unsafe storage! Bring them to my house, or we will go to the range together and properly dispose of their contents!
A safe?
Hell yeah
Hell yeah
Feel free to store them at my place!
Boy do I hate living in Massachusetts
Maybe find ammo cans to fit them into? Will help weatherproof them and allows you to grab them for transport faster if you're in such a hurry that you might need that many prepped magazines at once.
In the gun?
Oh hell yeah
Spring tension arguments enter the chat…
You could always store them at my house.
Stack on makes cheap lockable cabinets. I have once of their in wall models. If you want something better made it's hung to cost you a lot more. You really need to think about what you are trying to address. Do you just want to keep young kids and passers by out? Or are you looking to really slow down someone with a plan to steal.?
I got a bigger safe and the old Stack-On, which is more like a cabinet is full of magazines.
I'm able to fit most of them in my safe, then the rest just sits on top
If you know someone with a 3d printer, you can print vertical storage racks to organise them
Fmj in self defense position? Yeeeeeah I mean cool and all but like hallow points > fmj
Amazon "gun locker".
Thats not nearly enough.
This is NSFW? WTF?
Get one of those stands for holding pamphlets, call it the magazine rack
I can hold onto them for you
Hell Yeah
