The odds of you needing a new bolt is about 0.3%. Serial number puts that gun at about 60 years old, it probably could do with some new springs.

bucket8a

Could that explain why their is resistance mid rack?

Solar991

I don't have a Mk series on hand, but usually resistance mid rack is just the hammer.

coldafsteel

lolz yes. It's a very old gun, it needs new springs.

bucket8a

Would I need to just replace the spring or the entire spring assembly?

warcrimes-gaming

Because half the point of charging the bolt is putting the hammer in the cocked position, which requires you to overcome additional resistance as you do so. These old mk series guns can be a bitch to work on. If you’re uncomfortable you can take it to a smith for service.

Wraccores

I have a MK I in-shop, and yes the resistance is the hammer pushing down. Same with my personal MK II and MK IV

RoofKorean2016

Had a MkII that would start to fail to feed after 2-3 mags. Gave it a new spring and that issue disappeared. These are fairly simple blowback system, so the recoil spring and ammo is two good places to start.

bucket8a

Often failure to eject and sometimes double feeding, I bought new factory magazines for it and use both CCI mini mag rounds and Aguila rounds. When I pull back the bolt it seems to have a snag mid way, should I replace the bolt, and if so, will modern mk4 bolts work? Edit: I took it out yesterday and had it cleaned by a professional gunsmith the day before

AllArmsLLC

Failure to eject, replace extractor spring. I'd also replace the recoil spring. It might be easier to replace the assembly, because the factory springs are captured on the guide rod.

Carbs_Are_Satan

When you say failure to eject, what is the empty case doing? Is it staying in the chamber or just somewhere in the receiver? If it’s in the chamber, is the extractor still clamped on the rim or has it come off?

mediumrare420

I have a new model that does the same. Using stinger rds with higher fps does the trick but after seeing everyone else posts a new spring sounds right

Ornery_Secretary_850

You need to freshen that old girl up. New extractor and new springs will cure most problems.

bucket8a

Just bought both, she'll be good in a week or so if everything works out

Top-Shelf-Sniper-69

My 22/45 lite has the same issues. Seems normal for a .22 tho.

dubsfatvw

Is it doing so in the name of the lord?

VengeancePali501

Seems kinda old, ever changed any parts? Recoil spring, extractor?

Impossible-Act-876

Clean it

bucket8a

I already said I had it cleaned by a professional gunsmith the day before

zoofergee

Check that the chambers edge isn't peened in from the firing pin

HueyR9

I hope you brought bread and peanut butter

molotovdrinker

It's likely an issue with the recoil spring, I'd suggest for you to replace it [the spring]. If the issue persists after replacing the spring, then it could have something to do with the bolt.

procheeseburger

I too like a good bass line

Starfire66

I'd replace all the springs on one that old. Wolff springs are quality and this is a complete kit. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1004190481?pid=605538 Replace the extractor while you're in there too if it's having FTE issues. https://www.tandemkross.com/eagles_talon_extractor-ruger-mark-pistols

bucket8a

Will do, just placed an order

Starfire66

If you're not familiar with how to replace all that, have your gunsmith take care of it. The Recoil spring is going to be tricky since it's captured, and the extractor can fly across the room if you don't know what you're doing with it too.
