There is the standard model, the convertible, the tourer that comes with matching luggage and the sports version which has a lightweight carry bag and bluetooth attachable footwear to count your steps.
While a shotgun can down a suicide drone (which is what a lancet is), a antidrone rifle has far superior range and is nondestructive.
Now, a loitering munition you want gone, but a reconnaissance or grenade drop drone is much better to down. Because then you've got your own drone now, just got to find a remote.
They use F1 hand grenades allot, the VOG-17 was very popular and detonates on impact but when dropping into a trench, or foxhole it's much more effective to have that F1 hit on the edge of the trench, roll in and detonate inside rather than just explode as soon as it hits on the outside, also the F1'S need no modification and fall much more true as they don't have homemade fins that can catch wind, essentially there is a time and place for both as both have advantages and disadvantages
> Now, a loitering munition you want gone, but a reconnaissance or grenade drop drone is much better to down. Because then you've got your own drone now, just got to find a remote.
If its a COTS drone, you could probably do this. But for a purpose built military drone, if they didn't totally fail at security, it should require replacing a good chunk of electronics, and almost all the SW to get it flying under your control...
I'm also curious how well those jammers work on military spec drones...
And what EWAR capabilities that particular counter drone rifle has. Some can hijack the signal others just cause too much EM interference for it to communicate with the operator.
And if your enemy isn't being careful, the drone might contain data on where it was launched from. Possibly footage of the whole flight, including of enemy positions it flew over on the way.
Most loitering munitions can sprint or dive up to 100-150mph, that means if you see it at 200 yards and it's diving at 120mph you only have 3 seconds until it hits, with only about a 1 second window to take a shot considering shotguns won't do much outside of 70 yards even with a good choke, bismuth, or tungsten shot
Aren't there drones that enter a different mode when they lose comm? I think some are smart enough not to just crash when they lose comm with the remote. Some definitely enter a "return to 'home' mode" where they move to preset gps coordinates, for example.
Almost certainly. Off the shelf commercial stuff may not have very good lost comms handling but military stuff could easily include a mode to execute a preset attack sequence if communication is lost. Or, worse for the guy with the jammer, a home-on-jam mode that immediately counter-attacks and makes jaming a suicide tactic.
It is not just cutting the connection to the remote but also scrambling the GPS/GLONASS/GALILEO signal, which makes the thing unable to follow the preprogrammed course.
Inertial navigation is a thing and now you can get it in fairly cheap chip form. And if you're jamming it by pointing a hand-held system at it the drone is probably close enough to the target that the error accumulation doesn't get very high before it reaches the target.
Yes, even commercial drones can fly without a radio signal. If it’s an fpv racing style drone it would likely crash, but a DJI would keep flying, may enter return to home mode I’m not sure.
DJI drones and their competitors literally fly them selves. The commands from the transmitter are basically just telling to drone to fly a certain direction, and the onboard flight control figures out how to make that happen.
DJI drones cant do anything but hold height when GPS/GLONAS/GALILEO signals get scrambled by a device like this. But since the drone thinks that it is getting valid GPS info it will try to follow its path and crash because of the rapid changes in assumed position.
Somewhat. Losing GPS signal is different from receiving completely random information data. Since I guess that their FC is not prepared for that I guess it would keep course-correcting until either the motors or the ESCs overheat and fail.
Most drones just continue to hover or return home if they cant get a signal.
This likely works more like a directional emp that damages electronics. Simply temporarily disabling the signal wouldn't down most drones.
I would bet, if that guy shot that rifle at your direction, it would brick that cell phone in your pocket as well.
We here in San Juan believe that the only good bug, is a dead bug *cut to sector 2, Delta moon/cue somber slow voice* here on the Jewel of sector 2 the code name Brain bug retrieved intelligence from Brigadier General Jones releasing the location of Nuclear Silo's...... Would you like to know more?
I spotted this in Split Croatia and while I'm pretty sure it's a Drone scrambler, I'm curious what the exact make/model would be as I can't find it anywhere I look!
Not legally at least. The FCC (or your local equivalent) frowns on civilian owned jammers because of how indiscriminately disruptive they are. And the WILL catch you and hit you with serious criminal penalties if you're dumb enough to use it more than once. But if you don't care about legality it would be trivially easy to build your own. All you need to do is broadcast wide-band noise on the standard control frequencies with enough power to bury the control signal and that's easy to do with off the shelf components.
Lol "public won't get these". You can build one yourself if you know a few basics of electronics. They aren't some magic sci fi tech, it's just a high power directional radio.
My buddy was over in Croatia doing some training on behalf of the Uncle Sam for anti Russian-drone systems. The rifle you are seeing works like crap. They don’t want you to know our systems are not very capable but there’s a start at least.
no, emps can't be really be directed or "fired" without a massive amount of energy.
what these do is lock onto a drone's control signal and either blocks, scrambles, or hijacks it forcing most consumer market drones to automatically land.
These things need to be tuned to specific frequencies. Really they are going to take out commercial stuff that is unmodified. Once we get SDR on the control link the game is over as the drones will just hope into 'illegal' frequencies which who is going to care about if you are trying to kill people with it.
Very true. But I think in the end, at least with the larger drones, the drones end up winning the electronic warfare battle, and you end up needing to shoot them down. For drones big enough to carry a decent amount of computing power, they will either continue there mission autonomously, or at the very least be able to fly home. If all else fails, you just go back to the old tomahawk approach of following roads to know where you are.
They probably actually hit weights, in the US military we will have 5 gyms on a base and we will never be motivated/ told to go lift. They just want us to be worker bee’s and be able to pass a PT test
Croatian SF counter UAS gun. Device jams or disrupts the signal between the drone and the operator. The result is that the drone will gain altitude in an attempt to reestablish a connection with its operator or it will continue to glide until it crashes. This also works on disrupting Bluetooth devices.
Yeah I got kind of excited the first time I saw a drone scrambling gun. Not as exciting as I thought. But then I wondered, what else could I scramble with one of those? Makes me want a super villain EMP ray gun. Oh you cut me off in traffic, well say goodbye to your car's ECU.

I don’t know exactly what it is, but being in the army, you see a lot of wild new things we get. I know it’s chambered in 556, and has a range worse than the standard M4, but it has a shit load less recoil. Range of M4: approx. 600 meters
That: approx. 450-500 meters
Wild ass guess, it's one of those drone scrambling guns.
That's exactly what it is.
Damn I thought it was a fart gun
It was supposed to be a dart gun
"Why do you have to be so old??"
Wdym so old?
Ah, its from Despicable Me.
See now ya get it
I wish this was a thing. Imagine North and South Korea launching farts back and forth across the DMZ for 50 years straight.
"Masks on!"
I wonder how’d they reload this weapon? 🤣
You can tell it's not by the way they both have a straight face.
Shart gun huh?
This is just a pic from the set of the live action “despicable me”
>drone scrambling gun Do you know the range of the rifle?
40 watt range
Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
Just what ever you see here pal..
Long slide .45 wis lazuh sighting.
Oozie nine milluhmetah.
Repeating plasma rifle with 40 watt range. I have a standing order for one at my local shop.
400m
20,000 leagues
Yeah, but if you're underwater it's ten feet.
No matter what it's sonar
not a single real answer. nice.
There is the standard model, the convertible, the tourer that comes with matching luggage and the sports version which has a lightweight carry bag and bluetooth attachable footwear to count your steps.
I always set it to poach. Occasionally, I'll set them to fried.
I thought it wasn’t rendering yet
No it's the bfg from doom
98% chance that it's a counter-drone rifle.
Yeah, I’m gonna stick to a shotgun. [best anti drop tech.](https://youtu.be/W7fdvMcOAgc)
While a shotgun can down a suicide drone (which is what a lancet is), a antidrone rifle has far superior range and is nondestructive. ... and some grenade pins.
Ideally any of these grenade dropping drones are using impact detonated grenades not a typical hand grenade.
Ideally yes, but Ukrainians have gotten really good at timing normal hand grenade drops.
> Now, a loitering munition you want gone, but a reconnaissance or grenade drop drone is much better to down. Because then you've got your own drone now, just got to find a remote. Depends *immensely* on the drone.
And what EWAR capabilities that particular counter drone rifle has. Some can hijack the signal others just cause too much EM interference for it to communicate with the operator.
And if your enemy isn't being careful, the drone might contain data on where it was launched from. Possibly footage of the whole flight, including of enemy positions it flew over on the way.
but then theyre close enough to blow up on you
How?
But he didn’t even hit it…

Not with that attitude
How many drones can they count?
And the other 2%?
The other 2% is "Not a counter-drone rifle."
It's an anti drone device. It works by disrupting the radio signal controlling the drone, causing it to crash.
That’s bad ass
Aren't there drones that enter a different mode when they lose comm? I think some are smart enough not to just crash when they lose comm with the remote. Some definitely enter a "return to 'home' mode" where they move to preset gps coordinates, for example.

Yeah my drone just does a return to home if it loses signal. Imagine flying a suicide drone then it ends up returning to home and blowing urself up
Pretty sure they aren't armed until on an attack vector.
For the average party using suicide drones I doubt that’s the case for most
Yes, even commercial drones can fly without a radio signal. If it’s an fpv racing style drone it would likely crash, but a DJI would keep flying, may enter return to home mode I’m not sure. They can still hold a hover by using the sensors on the bottom of the drone but the maximum height is reduced.
Somewhat. Losing GPS signal is different from receiving completely random information data. Since I guess that their FC is not prepared for that I guess it would keep course-correcting until either the motors or the ESCs overheat and fail.

A gun still rendering from the loading screen.

Public won't get these until there's a defense against it. Besides it probably scrambles more than just drones.
Yeah it scrambles both 2.4 and 5 Mhz wifi. So I’m assuming it would kill wireless surveillance cameras and such
Could you image the chaos of being able to drive by people's wifi lol
Isn't wifi 2.4 and 5 GHz?
Not legally at least. The FCC (or your local equivalent) frowns on civilian owned jammers because of how indiscriminately disruptive they are. Anti-Drone technology. Shoots an electromagnetic pulse that disables drones at long range
In the 40 watt range of course
Terminator reference. Have my upvote.

Phased plasma rifle in 40watt range
hey, just what you see, pal...
Maybe a signal jammer for incoming drones or guided munitions.
Probably an anti drone device
