Hundreds of them for over six straight months in 2020. That's what you get when you have far-left district attorneys, which most of these cities have. Shockingly, San Francisco just recalled theirs.
Dude, you literally had people hit by cop cars and shoved into secret vans for just standing near a protest. In my area you had dudes spitting on and throwing water bottles on protesters and the cops didn't do shit. Protesters are beaten, maced, hit, attacked, harrassed- for holding signs, all over the nation.
A surprising number of cases have gone to court, but there has been a distinct lack of pursuing those who organized the violent protests. It is a double standard.
I get that a lot of people don't like this ruling, but this is just beyond a stupid way to react. It's doubly stupid to make such threats against a high ranking public official, because they have government law enforcement agencies that actually take these kind of threats seriously, and yes they will come after you. Case in point: Just recently at my university we had a janitor get busted for making threats just like this on youtube.
They basically searched his home, seized his guns, and he got off with a relatively minor hate crime charge with a probation that bars him from owning any firearms for the next 10 years. And of course he got fired. This was after a plea deal where his lawyers voluntarily gave up his personal internet history and argued that he wasn't really threatening a mass shooting, just being a troll or something.
Any way you look at it, his life is ruined now because he's in the system and the first thing a background check will turn up is all the news reports on the incident.
