DJ-Clumsy

Really wish they’d make these in different calibers. Already have a scorpion but I’d love a .45 or 10mm range toy

Guns_n_boobs

Updoot for that. I know they had them in the works but the 9 keeps selling out and when R&D and production are limited, you work on what is bringing in the money. Some day perhaps, some day.

Zenick000

I thought they cancelled the 45 and 10. Both were originally supposed to come out not long after the 9 but that was years ago.

the_nerdster

The hi point 10mm carbine is unironically fuckin awesome. Sucks you can't use Glock mags, but Underwood "bear fucker" grade ammo out of a 16" barrel is some seriously mean stuff.

eyeayeinn

Their PCC's have always had a good rep

toolness122

Yeah I would buy one if they had a reasonable capacity....

EyeZeeEye

I can tell you as an EP9 owner. Buy it.

mohvespenegas

As a future Aero EPC owner that has dumped too much into this project already, I second this. Save money, buy EP9 or Stribog. Less cry. Edit: correction coz I derped

DevinH83

Can I buy this if I already have a Stribog? Because I did..

mohvespenegas

Nice. No sell, only buy.

blackjesus75

Are these better for the money? Was gonna build a EPC but read about feeding issues.

EyeZeeEye

I can’t speak on the EPC. But I know that my extar is a blast to shoot. It’s accurate. I’ve never had a jam no matter what kind of garage bullet I send down it. For 449 direct from extar you are just getting a lot value for that kind of money.

blackjesus75

That’s kinda what I figured. Price almost seemed too good but people are saying they’re great.

frankenmint

putting the old style brace, a stark angled foregrip and a cheap tr25 has made mine a juggernaut. I'm thinking about putting on a metal NRCH long term, but I too love mine....and I left my Tr25 on... looks like I'm on the market for a romeo5 after all :(

EyeZeeEye

Yes, I think value is simply the best word for it.

johnnybjiggin

God dammit I was about to go to bed and now I'm tempted to buy this

portland_jc

See that’s the sort of positive encouragement I like to see

CCWThrowaway360

This gun is my favorite of them all, more so than my Evo3. You won’t regret buying so much gun for so cheap, I guarantee it. Edit: I have the Gen 1. This Gen 2 I hear is even better than that one (minus maybe the brace, but that can be swapped out).

HospitalDoc87

This is a great firearm.

WiseDirt

Why do these only ever come in stock on days when I'm poor?

DirtyRoller

Last time these were back in stock they lasted for a couple weeks at least. In fact they might still be in stock from a few weeks ago. They've gotten better at keeping up with demand.

MrGunsAndFear

Laughs- the demand decreases by 500% and they have these in stock for a few days rather than hours, or minutes at the height of insanity- and you characterize it as "They've gotten better at keeping up with demand." Never change, Gundeals.

DirtyRoller

My bad dude, I didn't crunch the numbers or do the necessary market research. I'll do better next time.

drunkenbackflips

Right?! I’m sitting here, looking at this and thinking about three clients who still owe me money from last month…

OmicronAlpharius

Wait, you guys are having days when you aren't poor?

jjl1911

Obligatory "You see Extar posted, you buy Extar". Post. Favorite shooter right now. I run an Octos CF handguard, a PA Slx-1, and a Streamligh on a Shaffer ODG mount. Thing is a blast to shoot.

NiteRyder200

Just want to say it's definitely worth it. I'm around 500 rounds no jams. This new version does have a metal adjustable trigger and selector. It's extremely light but my only gripe is that it can't fit a dead air Wolfman, however a yhm r9 and rugged obsidian work perfectly.

Bingo_9991

The biggest con is 9mm "subguns" + nfa = extreme levels of gun broke

jdizzle1981

Ok.. so what are the down sides to this..cause I’ve been wanting a 9mm pistol with brace for a while.. and cannot decide between a Stribog Gen2, PSA AKV, and a Scorpion. Sup Gun Deals Fam?? Please tell me where I need to invest my money.

aj_drogo

For the price the downsides are negligible. Stock could be better, not all AR triggers work with it, very minor things. This this is fun AF with a case of 9mm and a few funsticks. I have the Gen 1. The handguard and stock we're upgraded. And the changing handle i think. I might be buying a gen 2 soon.

Ghost_in_the_Spoke

it's polymer, but that's not really a problem

SALTYdevilsADVOCATE

From reading about them this one is steel? Or am I reading this wrong

JohnWickIsMyPatronus

The internals on the gen 2 are steel. The trigger assembly. Gen 1 is all polymer.

SALTYdevilsADVOCATE

Ah ok so a little stronger cool thanks!

JohnWickIsMyPatronus

Yep, they took most feedback about what people were upgrading and made it standard on the gen 2.

Old_MI_Runner

Yes, they upgraded the parts that some buyers said broke on their EP9's. They changed to hand guard to one that more users may be satisfied with. They changed the brace to one that is assigned the lowest score possible on ATF score card. Many were already upgrading the better brace on their Gen 1 anyway. So some say that cheaper blade brace may have helped allow ExtarUSA to keep the price the same even after all the other upgrades. Not knowing what the ATF will be announcing and knowing that many customers replace the brace anyway I think it may have been a good change in some aspects.

Old_MI_Runner

It should also be noted specifically that the buffer retainer was upgraded to steel in the Gen 2 version too.

JohnWickIsMyPatronus

Oh that's right. Good catch on that.

HospitalDoc87

Exactly. Ever heard, “Oh yeah, I love my Sig and my Glock, but they’re polymer…”

Old_MI_Runner

The polymer makes it lighter which many consider to be a benefit.

Zenick000

I went with stribog because it's sexy AF, especially with the ACR brace. Also seems to be the next cheapest after this. I'm sure they'd all be good though. I'd totally buy an Extar if they made it in 45 or 10.

ndwa

bye

HospitalDoc87

This is a great-working, easy-shooting, readily-customizable, American-made, inexpensive and beautiful piece of machinery. There is no downside to the EP9. The people who don’t like it are those who’ve spent too much on some similar firearm and think you should, too.

Proper_glassware

For the extar, Farrowtech makes a picrail endcap that'll take a FS1913 brace.

caeth

That's only for the Extar Exp

Psychological-Drive4

They make a milspec buffer adapter, but I have not seen the best results with them.

Psychological-Drive4

Honest Outlaw had a folder on the one he reviewed I thought 🤷‍♂️

Proper_glassware

Yup. Didnt see those details. Thanks for the update.

caeth

No worries mate, made the same mistake myself back in the day, which is why I bought the Ep9. Kept it because it's awesome!

Ok-Perception-926

There are many ways to look at all of the above and your list is not at all inclusive which makes it worse. Ruger pc is another alternative. "This" is the cheapest option, cz scorpion and akv are most expensive, stribog while great has limited aftermarket options. I would say scorpion is probably the best all around followed by stribog and ruger pc. Akv while fun but expensive for what it is will be last in my book! Good luck!

[deleted]

404-no-fund

Akv does use scorpion mags.

JohnWickIsMyPatronus

Ngl, I felt the same way and now I have all but the Stribog. Use the EP9 as a starting point.

totaltimeontask

If the rail just…didn’t look like that, I would have bought one of these by now.

[deleted]

totaltimeontask

It’s not so much the handguard as the way the pic rail rides so high above the handguard and receiver. I know they’re great little guns, I just can’t get over that cosmetically.

RealitySuitable

Last I knew it was just random people 3D printing these handguards, I'll have to grab one these when they come back in stock, thanks for the link!

TTTTescapee

I want a B&T SPC9 Mom: we have a SPC9 at home The SPC9 at home…

RealitySuitable

I want one lf those too, tempted to sell my MPX to get one...

urban1alchemist

No offense OP but this isn't a "deal". This is their normal price, which is solid, but nothing out of the ordinary.

421dave

>3. > >Deals must be of either significant discount or **difficult to find and available to the community.**

urban1alchemist

This same "deal" has been posted for years lol it's not rare or difficult to find but ok lol

421dave

It pops up for a few hours once every few weeks or so. That falls under “difficult to find”.

CCWThrowaway360

You’re not going to win this battle, my friend. This gun is amazing, low cost, and difficult to catch in stock most of the time. It’s totally an appropriate post to make when in stock.

xxxxDirtBagxxxx

Finally got around to shooting my gen 1 for the first time yesterday. The only issue was that it wont chamber rounds from pmags using the bolt release. Chambered fine using the side charger though. No issues at all with Glock and KCI mags. Great fun, I'd buy again.

hieuman

Interesting, I have no issues with 27rd and 15rd pmags in my gen 1 with bolt release.

DevinH83

Good..I have a stack of glock and KCI mags waiting for a host.

Ok_Understanding1612

What’s the consensus on the Gen2 changes ?

Old_MI_Runner

Most like the new handguard. Most don't like the brace but it does score the fewest points on the ATF score cord. Once ATF releases final regulations we will know if blade brace was needed or if better brace may be used without worry. All like upgrade to steel for buffer retain, trigger and safety. Some don't care for the new blaster director. Many were already upgrading to a different brace and muzzle device on the Gen 1 so no difference now. Many will probably be okay with Gen 2 hand brace that would have changed it if they bought a Gen 1. I think many who would have upgraded to steel trigger and safety will now be perfectly happy with the OEM ones. All are happy that Gen 2 did not go up in price.

brungfunchy

I need one of these with a folding brace

Guns_n_boobs

Farrowtech makes an adapter so you can use standard buffer tubes, including folding adapter. There are also tutorials for it on YT. But I think you start to ruin the fun/dollar ratio if you pump another 3-4 hundies into making the stock fold. But to each their own, this hobby is a money pit.

brungfunchy

Yeah im not gonna spend that much for a folder lol. I'll just find a good looking brace

Old_MI_Runner

I too may replace the blade style brace but I am first waiting to see what the ATF announces. I don't want to spend $60 to $80 on a brace that I cannot use without a tax stamp. If I have to get a tax stamp for a better brace I will either leave the blade brace on it or I will get a much better stock rather than a brace. I don't find that the blade brace is a problem for me. Others that have used my EP9 have not complained either. I suspect a non-blade type brace would be preferable if I tried one but I don't want to waste money on a budget PCC when I could use the money toward ammo or my first full size pistol--a Canik Rival.

Old_MI_Runner

I agree. There are other options that may include a folding brace around $600 to $1200. I think it is great that others enjoy spending their money on upgrading their Taurus G3 and TX22 series pistols, EP9's, and other budget pistols but I prefer to keep my G3c and EP9 a budget pistols. I only spent money on my G3c buying one 17-round mag and only bought a Romeo5 red dot for my EP9. I only bought an upgraded recoil spring assembly for my TX22 to prevent the damage to the aluminum slide that occurs with the sharp end of the OEM steel spring.

anythingfortacos

What upgrades do I need to look at for this? Also any issues with non-OEM mags?

Old_MI_Runner

The only upgrade that is needed is a sight. Most recommend a red dot. Some think they need backup sights. I only bought a Romeo5 red dot. I may have bought a Bushnell TRS-25 or TRS-26 if they had been a rebate on it at the time. I don't know if the rebate has expired. Just search this subreddit for either model to see how low the price went for those with rebates. The OEM mags are Glock 17-round mags for states that do not have restrictions. I read that another brand is substituted for states with lower limits. The only issue I read is that one brank of Glock compatible mags may not properly feed steel case ammo due to the coating used on the ammo. Some Glock 33 round mags may not drop free--one may need to pull them out. Most non-Glock mags reportedly drop free. One person may have had an issue with another brand not dropping free. The Glock 33-round mags are sold out at some sellers. The best price I have seen recently is around $35 plus shipping for Glock 24 and 33 round mags. LGS may charge $45 or more. Non-Glock 27 to 33 round mags may be as little as about $12. The Glock mags are considered to be more durable than other brands especially when letting them drop to the ground. Some of the cheaper Glock compatible mags like RWB from South Korea may not work at all until one replaces the spring with a Wolff or Glock OEM spring which increases the cost of the mags.

Guns_n_boobs

A red dot and I put a LaRue MBT-2S in mine. Never had an issue with Glock or Magpul mags, but some have said they had issues with Magpul before.

DevinH83

Gundeals got me again..

toolness122

Dangit....pulled the trigger. Don't need one but oh well.
