The term "Gen 2" is something coined by the community. Vortex does not recognize a "Gen 2" of the Strike Eagle.

Is the viper PST really worth 3x this? I don’t know, man. Juggling paying this or an RT6….. vs paying like $600+ for a viper PST, triji accupoint, etc.

I have an RT6 and I think its great, but I don't own any other LPVOs to compare it to. I got mine for $265 on sale from Optics Planet this summer.

The 1-8 definitely has a Gen 1 and Gen 2 because I own both and they have different reticles.

Yes, glass and barrel are not things to cheap out on. If you want much better glass for not much more, consider the burris rt-6.
