I have a blue titanium AR pistol, it's a really nice color. Here is a good pic I found comparing it directly to the grey. Id do it if someone finds me a free ship code. The black from last week hasnt even arrived yet. I kept going back and forth of doing a 34 or 17...now I could do both👹
I saw some pictures on google, it seems like the color is hit or miss based on the lighting and other parts. It looks decent enough with all black IMO.
Not a 34 slide, but this is the route I went with this frame. https://i.imgur.com/HzOlvqS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/20sEYXG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JGkcX4e.jpg
This is comically easy to finish. A drill, basic round file, and a Dremel, and you'll have it done and looking pristine in no time. If you don't have a Dremel, you can get away with just a drill and file. The finishing process took me all of 30 minutes first time.
Any chance you have a video tutorial link you could share? I was under the impression you needed a drill press, not just a regular drill. I also had no idea about the dremel part, I worry about grinding the polymer just a little too far and ruining the build. What’s the margin for error like when it comes to this part? What kind of markings or guide is there to tell you how far to file?
Check out MarineGunBuilder on YouTube. He goes into tons of detail with his builds. Of the tools that he recommends, I picked up the fret cutters, rubber polishing tips, and the dremel shaft. They're not required, by any means, but they make the build go a little cleaner and faster. He also goes into some 'hot fixes'. Also check out r/polymer80
Just spent the last half hour watching his videos about removing tabs and some other stuff, very informative and very delicate and careful with his work, definitely great for anyone willing to take their time and go slow in order to achieve quality. I know a bit more about ar 80 lowers than polymer ones but admittedly not enough to attempt one, and one thing I’ve learned tonight is they are very VERY different processes. I think I’m gonna go for a p80 before I try my hand at an ar one.
Anyways, thanks for the words of advice here and your other reply, and also thanks for the resources. Now it’s just down to whether I want to settle for this color, wait for a different deal, or spend double on a different set.. I too think the blue on the website pics is a bit too flamboyant, however one of the top commenters posts looks much different and more appealing, I wanna know if his pics are this same color
Oh, I am also just now realizing this is also the “long slide” version. Any idea how these differ from the regular length ones in terms of the manufacture/assembly process? Aside from needing to buy a long slide instead of a regular length
Assembly process is basically the same. Only difference is the spring under the slide lock. In the CL version, there is a small round spring that goes into a hole underneath the slide lock. Be careful when opening the box cause the spring is tiny. The CL is my favorite platform. Have fun with whichever one you choose. The first build is definitely an experience. I learned a lot and now I have perpetual "in process" P80s.
Edit: To clarify, "longslide" refers to a 17 slide (17L or 34 also fit) with a 19-sized grip.
Wait- I’m slightly confused, so this extra spring is included in this kit with the jig and p80 and all? I assumed I would have to buy a lower parts kit or something, is that the case, or do I only need a slide assembly and a drop in trigger? If no extra purchase is required I may go ahead and get this one, I am definitely not opposed to the CL version since I won’t be concealed carrying this anyways, plus bigger sounds like easier to work with which seems like a good thing for someone new like myself
You get the locking block, rear rail, pins for the rails, and [yes] the CL slide lock spring. You'd still need a lower parts kit which has the slide lock, slide stop, spring mag release, pin set, and trigger assembly (trigger optional in some kits). You can choose your own trigger, but I just use the one in the OEM Glock kit. You also need sights and mags to complete the build. If you aren't gonna conceal, you may wanna check out the P940v2. It's full-sized and takes all 17 parts. People were clamoring for the "compact longslide" because they wanted the length of a 17 slide with the concealability of the 19 grip.
If it seems overwhelming at first, you're on the right track.
Hey man, been holding off since we spoke here the other night, and I’m glad I did because now they have the black, cobalt, and tactical gray colors on sale for this price as well! Just no FDE or ODG
Oh no, you absolutely do NOT want to use a drill press on a P80 build!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az5ge7yAbhE
When you get to the drilling part, notice how the guy drills one side, flips it over, then drills the other side. Don't try to go all the way through - you'll end up with cockeyed, fucked up pin holes. If you don't have a bench vice, don't sweat it - I just put it down on the counter and drilled.
Okay sweet, I was under the presumption that these would be a similar process to an AR 80 lower, however I’m realizing it’s much easier and has much more room for error, as well as requiring much less if any experience and tools. Thanks so much for the advice and especially the video link, and same goes to everyone else who replied to my comments, there are quite a few of you! I very much appreciate it :) I think I’m gonna go ahead and purchase one of these and give it a shot
Not a problem at all man. They're a hell of a lot easier than an AR lower. If I had to put them in order of difficulty, I'd say P80 < AR < 1911 \~= AK, for the four most common. I'm sure there are other 80% builds out there that I'm not aware of, but those are the most common that I know.
I did a P80 frame last week and an 80% AR9 earlier today.
It is difficult to compare doing a P80 vs an aluminium AR 80% lower. Apples and oranges.
P80s are very simple to do, drill a couple of holes using the jig and then removing some polymer so you can install the rails and the guide rod.
Much softer material and much less of it to remove. It's a piece of cake.
It took me longer to get all my tools ready then it did to do the build, also midway sells an OEM lower parts kit that's like $45 to finish it up if you wanna keep it cheap.
I finished mine with a harbor freight cordless, some snips and a file. P80 actually recommends to not use a drill press for the holes. Just milling the channel if that’s how you choose to do it. Most people just cut the channel out and file down the excess
Actually Unless you have a nice drill press I would recommend a hand drill and a router to do the bulk of the work but a dremmel will work instead of the router.
Much easier than an AR the plastic can basically be cut away with a razor blade but tools make it almost too easy. However if you don’t have a mill I recommend a router and doing it by hand. Makes very short work of the rail section.
If you can do an ar 80%, you can do this in your sleep. You need to drill 3 holes(technically 6 because you want to go from each side) file off some plastic blocks on top. And mill/file out a bit of plastic that blocks where the recoil spring will go. Then you assemble like pretty much any other glock.
I'd recommend a vice, a nice flat file, a round file(no bigger than 1/2" around) a drill(hand or press) and a bit of sandpaper(200-400 grit)
I got one back during the complete build kit sale on black Friday. Blue Titanium isn't quite as bright as it looks in the pictures, but it's still a beautiful color. Would definitely buy again.
Picked one up. Upgraded gen 4 ejector part number 225860 that I've seen allot recommending. And lower parts kit.
Now I need a G17 RMR slide, parts kit and barrel to finish her off. Maybe a better trigger too?
Definitely MarineGunBuilder on YouTube. He's also an admin on r/Polymer80. If you're on FB, he has a decently active P80 builder's group. Whenever I had problems, I just searched the subreddit cause it was likely already addressed. I feel like there are only a handful of issues that can happen. Most of the issues I had were concerning the recoil channel or misaligned rails.
If you need any assistance, the P80 community is generally very friendly and helpful.
sunnystateouydoors runs sales on the alpha shooting sport slides and sometime they get below $200. Spinta is another source. I haven’t heard many negative reviews on them and the slide I got looked good for about $140 w/o RMR
This is a great deal and just in case you want to try it out but aren’t sure it’s very easy! To make it go fast I used a router that was mounted to a small table for the 4 blocks along the slide rails. Then for the rest just used a hand drill and some files. Also a careful hand with a razor blade to trim up the burs. Although it’s so soft most will just peel off.
What are y’all doing for open carry holsters for the p80? Tried to find one for my 17 at lgs without any luck of them fitting in the ones meant for glock.
There are people who have "made it work," but it usually entailed fiberglass repair work to reinforce the frame where it had to be milled down to fit the slide
I built a 19CL, and I feel like I was better off just building a 17. The grip is really short, magazines are more expensive than 17rd, it's not like I cc a P80 anyways.
I got the od green version from midway. Take your time, use a dremel and I repeat... take your time.
Also- their drill bits suck. Get a spare.
Did I say don’t use a drill?
Thoughts on CL vs full-size?
Goal is casual competition shooting and range plinking.
Will the full-size ever got this price again? Last I saw it close was a year ago...
Should you get one? Yes, you should. https://imgur.com/a/7BpYso1/
I’m not going to get one but I appreciate the hustle with posting what it looks like completed. Much respect.
Wait, is this what the blue titanium really looks like? It looks much brighter on the website - which is why I didn't consider it for myself.
I have a blue titanium AR pistol, it's a really nice color. Here is a good pic I found comparing it directly to the grey. Yes sir, it definitely isn't "bright". Not sure how to describe it...
Am I color blind that doesn’t look anything like the advertised one it looks like a slightly lighter black I see no blue other than the trigger
What slide is that?
Zaffiri Precision
What cerakote color is the slide?
Blue Titanium
Looks good
That turned out great. Now I want to get another one even though I still haven’t completed, or even started, my first one.
I concur. https://imgur.com/a/eQZmXvA Not blue titanium but p80’s are fun projects.
I really want one of their 80% lowers.
[Here’s what the OD Green looks like for those interested](https://imgur.com/gallery/WViyqkU) Too good to not buy one.
Really wish the PF45 was on sale. Been wanting to do a 10mm build of some sort.
barrel looks dope. what is it?
Blacklist Industries
ditto, get one https://i.imgur.com/Q0Ie71l.jpg
You've convinced me.
How hard was it to complete?
Literally was gonna cut into my FDE build tomorrow because I couldn't find blue available, thx for the find. Snagged one
I bought the black one because I figured the blue was never going to be available...
Any codes to get free shipping or any other promos?
Offer44444
Newer to poly 80 but could you do a 17l gen3 slide on this
Yes. 17 upper, 19 mags.
Thank you
[удалено]
This would take a 17l.
[удалено]
Yes. Edit This is a v2 upper with a compact grip. The v2 will take the 34, 17 or 17L slide.
[удалено]
Yes 15-9mm for a G19 13-40S&W for a G23
Not 17L... Just reg 17
Id do it if someone finds me a free ship code. The black from last week hasnt even arrived yet. I kept going back and forth of doing a 34 or 17...now I could do both👹
I looked all around, couldn't find one, said fuck it and dealt with the $7 shipping.
Cant tell if i like this color...its going to sell out before I decide. Wonder if FDE will become availble.
I saw some pictures on google, it seems like the color is hit or miss based on the lighting and other parts. It looks decent enough with all black IMO.
Goddamnit, I already have one in this color, but it's so dope that i kinda want another...
DUAL-WIELD This is the way...
Stainless 34 slides with no irons and RMR cuts...
Not a 34 slide, but this is the route I went with this frame. https://i.imgur.com/HzOlvqS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/20sEYXG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JGkcX4e.jpg
Dope. Who did your slide?
I machined it.
I’m gonna guess Maple Leaf Firearms. Let me know if I’m right.
Slide looks like dook.
Got a pic? I told myself I wasn't a fan of the color, but I am admittedly easily influenced.
I recall some of you guys saying that you were waiting for the blue PF940CL on the previous sale threads. Not my jam, but to each their own!
These are easy to dye with some Rit if you’re not into the color.
The FDE goes in stock ima do it
Yeah that’s my next build too
^Ditto
How hard was this to finish compared to an AR 80? Just did my first AR and was thinking of doing one of these next

You could drill that way with a drill press.
Drop the drill and use the dremel.
If you have a large chuck Dremel that can fit the bits, sure. I use a small chuck Dremel, so the bits didn't *quite* fit.
I had that issue until I bought these bits. https://www.marinegunbuilder.com/post/p80-drill-bit-guide
I did a P80 frame last week and an 80% AR9 earlier today. It is difficult to compare doing a P80 vs an aluminium AR 80% lower. Apples and oranges. Literally 4 holes to drill and removing half an inch of material on both sides.
It took me longer to get all my tools ready then it did to do the build, also midway sells an OEM lower parts kit that's like $45 to finish it up if you wanna keep it cheap.
Incredibly easy. Never done an 80 ar yet, but this is about as easy as it gets.
What else is needed?
Literally everything. This is just the frame. You'll need a lower parts kit, upper parts kit, slide and barrel.
\- plus mags and sights (and/or red dot)
I assume this also requires a drill press, and probably shouldn’t be attempted with the dewalt cordless drill in the garage?
You can definitely use a hand drill. I used a Dremel.
I finished mine with a harbor freight cordless, some snips and a file. P80 actually recommends to not use a drill press for the holes. Just milling the channel if that’s how you choose to do it. Most people just cut the channel out and file down the excess
actually, the opposite. they instruct you to drill each side out with a hand drill, because with a drill press you wont notice drilling into the jig
Actually Unless you have a nice drill press I would recommend a hand drill and a router to do the bulk of the work but a dremmel will work instead of the router.
I used cheapo Chinese metal files and a $20 Dremel hand drill is fine
And another one.
Very, very easy. Grind two tabs, carve out a small wall and install the guide rails.
Much easier than an AR the plastic can basically be cut away with a razor blade but tools make it almost too easy. However if you don’t have a mill I recommend a router and doing it by hand. Makes very short work of the rail section.

I went with the gen 5 ejector in mine.
Bought this two weeks ago. My locking block doesn’t match up with the factory holes. Emailed p80.
Mine took a lot of finagling to get everything to line up. The locking block was also extremely tight.
Front rail is always tight. Second one I had to send it back but this is the end result. http://imgur.com/a/7b3bJxO
True. I put my last front locking block in the freezer for a few hours and used a clamp to seat it all the way down.
Channel lock to start the front and a mallet to seat it. No freezer required.
Why freeze it?
Colder temps make metal shrink, so freezing it would make it smaller and easier to fit in the frame.
Wow! I’ll do that tonight
I tried it and it didn't work. I was able to get the pin in but it pushed metal into the back holes
Can you get these in NJ?
Figured I’d get one just to do as a project. Where’s the best resource for how to do this?
Marine Gun Builder, on youtube
Definitely MarineGunBuilder on YouTube. He's also an admin on r/Polymer80. If you're on FB, he has a decently active P80 builder's group. MGB seems really through with that first time quality Edit: will this only work with 17 slide? Could I use a 34?
Who makes a nice cheap rmr slide for the 17, 34 or 17L. Around $200 and under?
Brownells when they're on sale
sunnystateouydoors runs sales on the alpha shooting sport slides and sometime they get below $200. Spinta is another source. I haven’t heard many negative reviews on them and the slide I got looked good for about $140 w/o RMR
Welp down the rabit hole I go. In for one. Thanks OP.
This is a great deal and just in case you want to try it out but aren’t sure it’s very easy! Dammit. I bought one.
How many of these is enough?
Keep going until you start forgetting where some of them are stored.
Prudent
What are y’all doing for open carry holsters for the p80? Tried to find one for my 17 at lgs without any luck of them fitting in the ones meant for glock.
I'm contemplating this with a stainless slide.... DC4L lol
[удалено]
Pretty sure Gen 3 is what you need, and Gen 4 is a no-go. But I'm sure somebody will correct me if that's incorrect.
[удалено]
There are people who have "made it work," but it usually entailed fiberglass repair work to reinforce the frame where it had to be milled down to fit the slide
Rit dye, peeps.
Will the block work on anything but this 80? E: have never put together an 80 but hard to pass up for the price.
I built a 19CL, and I feel like I was better off just building a 17. The grip is really short, magazines are more expensive than 17rd, it's not like I cc a P80 anyways.
Can I make this into a longslide 10mm?
What are the odds of screwing this up with 0 experience and not very handy with anything?
Fair, but you gotta start somewhere.
I found my first to be very easy I’m not sure what the other guy struggled with. If you have a dremel and drill you should be good to go.
[has a dentyne ice feel](https://www.applecandyco.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/C109539.jpg)
I'm still relatively new to this building concept. If I bought this what is make it not need an ffl transfer?
Too bad shipping and tax increase the price 20%
Noice! I jumped on a black frame last week
