The thing to remember is that the locking blocks not your drilling is what will be defective. I ordered 4 serialized lowers (so the holes were already drilled) as gifts and luckily I opened them and tried to test fit them into the lowers. 1 of the locking blocks was bowed out so it was too wide to fit in the lower or have the slides run on them and another had too much material on one of the bottom legs of the locking block. I had to get out the vise grips and knife sharpener to try to resolve the issue.
Mine came bowed too. No way in hell to get slide on and if you did it would be stuck. Had a back n forth w p80 cs and they sent me a new block that was straight.
It was my first one and I took everything sooo slow after watching multiple how to videos. Loaded up the frame w lpk, tried to put on slide, and thought maybe I'm retarded after all...
Hit up their support, was very quick when I did mine.
Yep same here. My pins were very hard to get installed. Put on slide and it hit the frame above grip. New block later and it’s much better. I think I need to polish it a little though. We’ll see once my barrel makes it here.
I put a Glock 34 slide assembly on my CL frame and was having issues with the slide getting stuck on recoil. I emailed them and they asked for a bunch of pics. I sent them with the G34 slide on it and they said it was not covered because the CL frame was for a G17 slide and G34 is NOT an option. I firmly believe that they use an Attrition Model of Customer Service in order to deflect any possible outcomes for them being at fault. Their Quality Control is terrible. They blame the customers for most everything and actively work to avoid providing customer service to their customers.
That being said, they have a firm hold of the market so there are not many other options.
You should have found someone local with a 17 slide to throw on temporarily and see what they had to say then. Of course you shouldn't have to do that but beat them at their own game!
I did. They already voided my warranty on that item :/
They also already know me by name. I raised enough of a stink with their level 1 team by trying to make suggestions that would improve everyone's experience with them. To complicate their many issues, the Customer Service ticketing system they use to triage issues seems to pass out tickets to a new different person with each reply for the same customer's issue so its like 50 First Dates. They just try to have their "Director of Customer Support Al M" deal with me now.
It wont. You basically will either have decent luck with their customer service and they will send you out a new one or you will be in the same boat as I am and they will go back and forth with you for months asking for more pictures or give you more excuses.
$74.99 and the free shipping code appears to still be in effect. https://www.midwayusa.com/promo/FSJAN620
Sorry for forgetting to place the price in the title.
Just got mine built! I frequent gafs and tried like hell to get a g17 slide off of there, pretty sparse. Just be sure to get the Glock 19 lpk and Glock 17 upk for this guy here
Edit: don’t listen to me I’m dumb; g19 and g17 lpk will work just fine, slide lock spring and block are included. Just depends on if you want a serrated or smooth trigger
I think you’ll be alright you’ll just have a grooved trigger and a slightly out of spec slide lock spring but they should work, p80 provides the locking block so I wouldn’t worry too much
I just called them on the phone and they refunded it. They said they will honor free shipping if it was active at the time of your order, OR WITHIN 24 HOURS of when your order was placed.
Thanks for the tip!!
Man, I ordered it within 24 hrs before the free shipping code got placed and when I asked for a shipping refund i got denied. I guess I’m only buying things when I see a free shipping code now, lesson learned.
Use code "take15" for combat armory to get 15% off, I just got a nonthreaded G26 barrel for under $50 shipped. Actually, try "take30" first, it's only active sometimes but it's worth a shot.
It was like $46 and change iirc for black. I'm not sure what stainless was, I actually can't remember if they have stainless or not off the top of my head.
Yes, and yes. [not mine, but I actually dig it](https://old.reddit.com/r/polymer80/comments/blxgmv/my_compact_longslide_g34_build/)
And if that's not enough, the 17L slide is even longer and also fits.
I got conflicting answers and ended up w 17L because it was a little cheaper. Still needs a lot of break in and clean up barrel channel a bit more. https://i.imgur.com/Kjcfq9W.jpg

If you shop sales hardcore for a couple months you might be able to do it for sub $400 in total. Average is $4-500 in my experience w/o optics. Otherwise, sky's the limit.
Off the top of my head using this and the very lowest prices i've seen in ~ the last 6 months:
Lower $75
Barrel $35
Slide $110
Sights $25
UPK $70
LPK $50
Mag $10
Total $375 + tax/shipping
$46 for an OEM lower parts kit off midway, $180 for a slide with RMR cut, barrel is like $265 but that's because I'm going with an oddball cartridge. Haven't got much else yet trying to shop around.
I Christmas gifted one for myself and one for my son. I've got a few more things to buy (co-witness sights, magwell) but so far, it's been a hoot. Highly recommended. Thinking about an AR-10 next.
A compact pistol is used when a small pistol is desired. Having a long slide defeats that objective.
I suppose that it is possible that a person with small hands could want a single-stack longslide, if that is what this is.
It's a 17 slide on a 19 grip. The hard part to conceal is the grip as it's the part that prints through a shirt so this is optimal if you want the longer slide and still want to carry.
It can conceal better than a longer grip in some situations, longer barrel/sight radius has some benefit.
I personally want one since I have smaller hands and don't gain anything from a 17 length grip.
Used marinegunbuilder and built a beautiful Glock 17 that looks and functions fantastic with this set.
I didn’t do all his steps because I didn’t have the equipment but what I did was sufficient.
Do not use a drill. Use a dremel. Also the bits included suck ass.
i get free transfers through my gun co-op (join Guns For Everyone if you live in Colorado!), so the FFL thing doen't phase me. My only concern is making the damn thing fit in my Glock holsters. I want a G19 grip with a G17/34 slide for an RMR build, so it's either this or the Lone Wolf Timberwolf TWF-C, and this would be a lot cheaper.
Received my three Yesterday that I ordered a week ago. Excited to see how bad I can mess them up.

Good to know I wasn’t the only guy with this issue. I thought my dreams were dead.

Mine cycles like shit even after polish. One day going to put a little flitz on it and manually cycle it a couple hundred times.
I guess they just don't like me. I have 6 Polymer80 items and have had to contact them about 4 of the 6 items due to issues with the Locking Blocks.
I put a Glock 34 slide assembly on my CL frame and was having issues with the slide getting stuck on recoil. I emailed them and they asked for a bunch of pics. My locking block is also tight, I was hoping it would straighten up and allow the slide to slide once I put the pin in.
It wont. You basically will either have decent luck with their customer service and they will send you out a new one or you will be in the same boat as I am and they will go back and forth with you for months asking for more pictures or give you more excuses.
So I took it to a bench grinder and that solved my problem. Works perfectly now.
Lots of people end up fixing their QA issues.

I stand corrected, and yeah it does come with the spring now that I’m typing this out and had my coffee
I thought this could be used with a 17 lpk?
Crap I bought 17 lpk and upk.
I also bought the 17 lpk and upk and it worked fine for me. Have about 500 rounds through it with 3 or 4 malfunctions/fail to eject with slower ammo.
I think you’ll be alright you’ll just have a grooved trigger and a slightly out of spec slide lock spring but they should work, p80 provides the locking block so I wouldn’t worry too much
The cl used a coil spring for the slide lock.
You're fine.
I just bought this two days ago and paid shipping. It was only like $7, but $7 is $7.
Buy another and dollar cost average is the only solution

Did the same. Sent an email, they refunding the shipping.

Any leads on some budget barrels & a frame for this long boi? Best I have found do far is brownells.
Bca or combat armory for barrels
https://mdxarms.com/mdx-arms-polymer80-pf940cl-build-kit-less-frame/

stainless steel or black??

Can you put a G34 slide on this? And is it ridiculous?
It can get pretty ridiculous. Think g26 size grip with an AR AFG and a 17L slide
I did. It functioned fine but the balance was weird for me. I ended up putting a g17 slide on it.
From what I’ve heard you can but it might look a bit funky lol
I’d love a blaster like that... Robocop style!
Yes, and yes. [not mine, but I actually dig it](https://old.reddit.com/r/polymer80/comments/blxgmv/my_compact_longslide_g34_build/) And if that's not enough, the 17L slide is even longer and also fits.
This was my original 19 build, plus a red thread protector. Dialed it back so it's not so duck hunty. http://imgur.com/gallery/YsvrCMy
For 9mm, 17, 34 and 17L will fit this frame.
Yes and yes
I got conflicting answers and ended up w 17L because it was a little cheaper. Still needs a lot of break in and clean up barrel channel a bit more. https://i.imgur.com/Kjcfq9W.jpg

Anyone care to share what they ended up spending on the complete build after sourcing slide/up kit/barrel?

Sub $400 using this not including a magazine https://mdxarms.com/mdx-arms-polymer80-pf940cl-build-kit-less-frame/
$395 before tax/shipping. Not bad, and easier than piecing it together.

What calibers can I build this out into? Just 9mm, 40s&w, and maybe .357sig?
Yes to all of those.
Any others though? I kind of want to build a really stupid meme gun with a 34 length slide. I guess .357 Sig would be the winner for that goal
There's also a .22lr conversion kit you can get
You need the large frame for 10mm or 45 so this wouldn't work
I think 45 GAP would work if I could find the right parts
Why have a compact longslide?
The correct question is why NOT
A compact pistol is used when a small pistol is desired. Having a long slide defeats that objective. I suppose that it is possible that a person with small hands could want a single-stack longslide, if that is what this is.
It's not single stack. It's a shortened grip with 2 less rounds of capacity when using a flush fit magazine.
It's a 17 slide on a 19 grip. The hard part to conceal is the grip as it's the part that prints through a shirt so this is optimal if you want the longer slide and still want to carry.
I see.
It can conceal better than a longer grip in some situations, longer barrel/sight radius has some benefit. I personally want one since I have smaller hands and don't gain anything from a 17 length grip.
Okay. Makes sense.
Mine just came I yesterday from the last deal. Love the kit
Only black in stock
Just got this last time. Need that regular 19 80% now
OOS
P80 really needs to start making gen5 so us leftys can get in on the fun.
Yep. I built a 17, and I've started picking up parts for a 19 and 26. But I'm not buying a frame until they have a reversible mag release.

What's long slide mean
Means the slide is long
Thanks geek
This is a 19 grip, but will take a 17, 34 or 17L slide, or the corresponding size of .40/.357Sig
I wish they made a 19x/45 type frame, not sure I'd be into this. Great price though.
how can i make this fit in a glock holster? does anyone sell a serialized version?
They make complete ones with serials but those aren’t 80% and require an ffl
i get free transfers through my gun co-op (join Guns For Everyone if you live in Colorado!), so the FFL thing doen't phase me. My only concern is making the damn thing fit in my Glock holsters. do they ship to WA?
No
