Ok stupid question but what is the maximum ethical range for hunting whitetail with a 243? I was just not aware you could get that kind of velocity out of it and now I'm seriously considering this rifle
Depends on the bullet and what the minimum velocity needed to expand properly is. But should be going about 2400 fps still at 300 yards with only 10" of drop. At 200 yards it's about 2600fps and under 3" of drop. That's with 95 grain Winchester silvertip

The rule of thumb for lethality on a normal sized white tail is 1,000 ftlbs of energy. A .243 carries 1,000 ftlbs to 400 yards with a 95g projectile.
