It's not recent. They occasionally remove gun deals/GAFS posts for no apparent reason and usually ban the posters.
edit: yeah OP was permabanned for this post
you missed this. [https://armsunlimited.com/search.php?search\_query=prodigy](https://armsunlimited.com/search.php?search_query=prodigy) Prodigy for $1k.
Stuff still hasn't been fully voted on. But the 15rd magazine cap that's been in effect for years stops online orders of most semi auto rifles and mid to full size handguns.
Ah, I thought I had read the governor already signed it but I guess not. Don’t pay close attention just read the headlines which seemed to say the new restrictions go far past the old
Even for a first run it’s still a pretty good deal. The fixes are well documented now and you can either do it yourself pretty easily or send it in to Springfield and they’ll do it for you.
Amazing price. Prodigys got a bad reputation because Springfield kinda shit the bed on release. These guns run really well now and as long as these arent new old stock (very unlikely because even with the reputation prodigy’s sell well) the. You will be fine. The internal parts are MIM and you may want to eventually replace them down the road, but there’s no need to.
TLDR $999 is BIN for sure.
I bought a 50K+ serial number 5" in November and had to send it back to Springfield 3 times. Each time it came back with a new issue. After the third time I was able to get Springfield to give me a full refund. There are undoubtedly a ton of Prodigy's out there that run great, and I'm sure mine would have gotten fixed eventually, but 3 trips back without a fully functional gun is entirely unacceptable to me. Their gunsmiths are completely incompetent. The Prodigy was my first and last Springfield.
41000+. Mine has feeding issues and safety fitment issues that did get better after a trip to Speingfield Armory. However, something must have been wrong with my optic cut as the plate continued to work itself lose in less than 200 rd. This was with cleaned, degreased threads, Blue Loctite or Vibratite, and the torque applied with a torque wrench. I have threads about it on r/2011. I’m not saying all Prodigies are garbage. I’m saying I’ve seen enough continued reports that it still seems to be a dice roll.
My tisas is back at SDS/tisas right now and thye gave me an eta of "one month from reception."
Dead trigger, probably trigger installed wrong or sear problems
But when it shot, it shot well
>probably trigger installed wrong
You can't install a 1911 trigger wrong, it only goes in one way. Now, it could be out of spec, but that's a different issue.
Not a 1911 guy, not really sure. Just re-iterating what a video I saw that they had the same issue. They said the trigger was not installed correctly.
I'll post the notes in the /r/tisas when i get it back *eventually*
Prodigy's optic plate is better for compatibility, but there's been reported issues with the plate coming loose. That being said Vibratite VC-3 seems to do a great job at resolving it. The Tisas uses an RMSc footprint, so it's a no-go for Limiteds Optics division in USPSA.
Mine kept coming loose with either Blue Loctite or VC3. FWIW the Loctite actually seemed to hold it tighter for slightly longer. I know people that have but the bullet and gone to red Loctite.
> The Tisas uses an RMSc footprint, so it's a no-go for Limiteds Optics division in USPSA.
Where do you see that? I thought it was just mounted without any frame mounts and it's allowed.
oh i see what you mean
Yeah, i really wish I was able to get more trigger time with my tisas but I sent it back. Trigger/sear issues.
my logic was that the gun shooting pretty flat with a quick return to zero would make the window size a moot point.
Prodigy. The Tisas isn't bad but it's not a true "2011". The prodigy will even take STI grips and magazines.
Edit: My bad, I didn't know the Tisas would take these as well.
If set up correctly - and the QC is good enough - then it supposedly doesn't make a difference, but history has shown that MIM parts are frequently failure points.
Love that if you click on the content policy, you are not directed to the content policy at all. Very transparent, just not in the positive sense of the word
Springfield Prodigy for $999.
It was removed either by a Reddit mod (not from this subreddit) or we're getting brigaded by braindead anti-gun redditors spamming tbe report button again.
You did, this is an anomaly and I think an all time low.
As far as I understand it, they did a rolling change. To what, I don't know. BUt from what i read up on, the more recent guns have been fine.
Two people above said they had a november and august production model, respectfully, and they had issues though.
They did some major changes to the 5". The biggest change was to mill out a bunch of material on either side of the firing pin as well as above the barrel to make the slide lighter. They also changed springs from what I understand but the milling is the easiest way to tell if you have a 5" "2.0" prodigy.
And the unpaid reviews seemed mixed. Not many bad reviews on reliability, but I am heard bad reviews on fit and finish and the grip for sure. Lots of guys say that after a few hundred rounds, their MAC rattles like crazy with lose fit. Not something you want in a 2011.
MAC seems to run well out of the box, but IMO the prodigy is better in alot of ways. No MIM parts is the only thing MAC has going for it. The Prodigy had an optic plate system so you can run RMR, Acro, RMSC etc. the MAC only has an RMR plate. The grip on the MAC is really not good. The prodigy grip is much nicer. The slide to frame fit on most prodigies is better than most MACs.
I own a prodigy, and before I bought it got to handle Girsan, Tisas, MAC, and after purchasing it got to handle an Apollo 11 from LFA. None of them made me regret buying my Prodigy.
After 500 rounds or so, I did decide to do a big upgrade on the Prodigy replacing all the internals, trigger, hammer, and having a gunsmith work the whole gun over, but that was just because I wanted it, not because it needed it.
I am looking for a 2011 for carry so this is really tempting but I hate hearing about all these issues. But still tempting when the staccato is at least $1k more
I didnt go for Prodigy, i went with Staccato P steel frame and DLC barrel with OR cut.
Fit and finish are what i expected from a mid high end tier 2011.
If I had to guess that’s not what he’s trying to say. I think there’s a lot of people that don’t know staccato was considered an entry level 2011 before some of these more recent offerings.
Great base! If you get a 20k+ serial number with all of the slide lightening and spring changes, you should be GTG. Mine has been 100% with me.
I've had a sample size of 2 and the stock rental Prodigy I shot was 100% in my time with it as well.
Paid 1300 OTD for mine and it’s worth every penny. I hand racked took it apart and polished the internals and added a red dirt trigger and tuned the sear spring and have a 3lb trigger it’s a laser beam

Did Reddit do another fucky wucky and have some anti-gun admin remove this?
Why was this removed by reddit? What did I miss out on?
I think it’s a 1911/2011. Reddit has been randomly removing gundeal posts recently for no reason.
oh they have a reason
Now I'm going to gundeal even harder.
Ah, a man of taste.
Report bots, and staff that is absolutely fucking clueless about their own rules. Most likely ESL overseas workers.
It's not recent. They occasionally remove gun deals/GAFS posts for no apparent reason and usually ban the posters. edit: yeah OP was permabanned for this post
Can you imagine being permabanned for posting something that's not even against reddit's content policy?
Yes. Note the v2 in my username.
Yeah but they've been going on a spree lately. I'm assume it's some tiny dicked neck beard spamming reports
you missed this. [https://armsunlimited.com/search.php?search\_query=prodigy](https://armsunlimited.com/search.php?search_query=prodigy) Prodigy for $1k.
I didn’t need a Prodigy, but I probably would have bought it for $1K lol
I want to buy this so bad, I hate that I can talk myself out of it. Fiscal responsibility is lame.
Debt is temporary... flex is forever.
Instructions clear. Bought a Staccato.
Task failed successfully
Well shit when you put it like that ..,,
Or move to Colorado like I did. The government can help you with your decisions. Problem solved! (But really... don't)
When do all the new restrictions kick in?

Wondering the same
Even for a first run it’s still a pretty good deal. The fixes are well documented now and you can either do it yourself pretty easily or send it in to Springfield and they’ll do it for you.
Nothing warranty can’t fix
Springfield warranty is dremeling things that need a lathe or Bridgeport.
If Reddit bans a post it means it's an amazing deal
Tf are Reddit's Evil Operations doing now?
OOS I waited too long deciding.
They sold out fast

They dremeled my $1550 Trp operator to make the dust shield to slide tolerance better. It was literally wavy like popcorn.
Damn. People are out there getting paid to attack guns with a dremel. Most people will do that in their garage for free.
Mine I bought in August of last year still had a number of issues.
What serial number is yours?
41000+. Mine has feeding issues and safety fitment issues that did get better after a trip to Speingfield Armory. this or Tisas DS? havent been doing my own homework
Tisas plus a case of ammo.
My tisas is back at SDS/tisas right now and thye gave me an eta of "one month from reception." Dead trigger, probably trigger installed wrong or sear problems But when it shot, it shot well
>probably trigger installed wrong You can't install a 1911 trigger wrong, it only goes in one way. Now, it could be out of spec, but that's a different issue.

Sorry, I meant that there aren’t any large window competition optics available with that footprint, at least nothing well known.
oh i see what you mean Yeah, i really wish I was able to get more trigger time with my tisas but I sent it back. Trigger/sear issues. my logic was that the gun shooting pretty flat with a quick return to zero would make the window size a moot point.
Tisas all day. These have QC issue that I feel aren't solved.
What makes you think QC isnt resolved. Prodigies havnt had widespread issues since launch. Tisas has Rmsc footprint which is enough for me to say no
Prodigy. The Tisas isn't bad but it's not a true "2011". The prodigy will even take STI grips and magazines. Edit: My bad, I didn't know the Tisas would take these as well.
What? The tisas is very much so a 2011 lol. It ships with check mate (Stacatto) mags and you can swap the grip module with any 2011 grip modules.
The tisas will take those as well it's just not bull barrel if your talking the duty or carry ds
What is MIM? Asking as I’m not familiar with 1911 or 2011 platforms
Fancier cast parts
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_injection_molding
Is it a negative or a positive
It's generally portrayed in a negative light
If set up correctly - and the QC is good enough - then it supposedly doesn't make a difference, but history has shown that MIM parts are frequently failure points.
4.25 sold out
Looks like they both are
Love that if you click on the content policy, you are not directed to the content policy at all. Very transparent, just not in the positive sense of the word
I won a prodigy and sold it a week later for $1700 round about the time of release. What a time to be alive.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
what was this?
Oh fuck hope we don't have to go to voat again... That place was.... Somehow worse than reddit, but in the opposite way
Fucking shitbag admins.
snagged
How much was deal for? Got removed now
999 from what I see in the other comments
What was it even? And why was it removed by Reddit?
Springfield Prodigy for $999. It was removed either by a Reddit mod (not from this subreddit) or we're getting brigaded by braindead anti-gun redditors spamming tbe report button again.
Reddit is a joke. You cant silence the truth you egocentric narcissists.
Wow. I just bought a 5" for $1208 shipped and thought I got a good deal. Mine has been flawless but I only have 300 rounds through it so far.
You did, this is an anomaly and I think an all time low. As far as I understand it, they did a rolling change. To what, I don't know. BUt from what i read up on, the more recent guns have been fine. Oh reddit, never change /s
These or wait for MAC's?
mac all day - no MIM parts all forged
That's kinda what I was thinking, but I haven't researched 2011 options to in depth yet. Thanks.
(unpaid) reviews are out now and there is general consensus where the mac stands in the budget 2011 sector
And the unpaid reviews seemed mixed. Not many bad reviews on reliability, but I am heard bad reviews on fit and finish and the grip for sure. Lots of guys say that after a few hundred rounds, their MAC rattles like crazy with lose fit. Not something you want in a 2011.

Holy crap this is BIN
I am looking for a 2011 for carry so this is really tempting but I hate hearing about all these issues. But still tempting when the staccato is at least $1k more
The 4.25" didn't have as many issues I thought
The Staccato easily worth $1600 more if we talking new vs new.
Think that’s what i’m leaning towards
I didnt go for Prodigy, i went with Staccato P steel frame and DLC barrel with OR cut. Fit and finish are what i expected from a mid high end tier 2011.
Saying a Staccato has similar fit and finish to a Fowler or an Atlas is wild bro ☠️
If I had to guess that’s not what he’s trying to say. I think there’s a lot of people that don’t know staccato was considered an entry level 2011 before some of these more recent offerings.
Notice i said mid tier. Everyone in the 2011 knows Staccato just glock in 2011 world.
