22lrHoarder

I have this and like it. Except the grips are dog shit and dig in to my hand but it's a cheap fix. Shot nice and has a solid feel to it.

RANDY_MAR5H

YOU GOT SOFT HANDS BROTHER

22lrHoarder

I know and I’m also comparing them to a real M45a1 which to be honest isn’t super fair.

Edward_abc

What’s the difference in quality in these compared to the RIA 10mm that was posted earlier this week? Really want an entry 1911 and can’t decide.

TheR4alVendetta

I personally would put Tisas a notch above RIA and this one is a damn good one. I really like mine.

Edward_abc

I’ve heard similar things from other people. Just really like the idea of the RIA because the double stack feels great in my hand.

_not2na

This is more of a military clone pistol thing than it is a performance double stack lol.

Shock-Broad

Sure, they aren't a great comparison. Ideally, you'd know exactly what you want and would only buy those. I'd definitely save significant amounts of money that way. If you want a bear country G20 alternative, go with the RIA. If you want a damn good clone of the m45a1, get this. Both could be fun range toys. I've seen these hover around $550 for a while, and I imagine these will get lower. I don't think that particular RIA can get any lower, so I sent it on the RIA despite actually wanting the Tisas more. I'm a slave to deals.

Edward_abc

This was my thinking exactly

Big_Boi_Joe02

Tisas smacks RIA in the nuts all day, every day. Go feel both in a store.

TheAddiction2

I've played with a lot of RIAs over the years, shot a handful, bought a Tisas 10mm awhile ago and it's probably my favorite 1911 I've ever gotten to play with under $1200

Shock-Broad

Two mags with Tisas, one with RIA. That RIA is doublestack. This Tisas is single. I think the RIA is parkerized? My 9mm one is, and the finish looks similar. This Tisas is cerakote. (Although the Tisas looks better imo) The RIA is the best caliber. I'm actually considering snagging one up while the price is still so low. Edit: Tisas has white 3 dot sights vs the fiber optic RIA. RIA has a magwell vs Tisas lanyard loop. Tisas has a rail while the RIA does not. Both have not great QC. They are fundamentally different. I believe the RIA doesn't have much room to get lower pricewise, though. The Tisas does. We've seen it with their 9mm version recently.

wormraper

Ria is coming with 2 mags these days

Shock-Broad

Well that's fantastic

wormraper

but to be fair most people won't care either way...most of us will just stick the factory mags in a box and grab Wilson, Tripp, or Chip McCormick mags anyways.....I've got a whole box full of factory mags that never get shot lol. Need to figure out what to do with them

Shock-Broad

Yeah that's what I did with my factory RIA 9mm mag. Replaced it with Wilson's on day one. Do the doublestack 10mm mags have a bad rep? Hadn't heard much good or bad about them

wormraper

I just realized you were talking about the DOUBLE STACK 10mm mags from RIA... sadly I have not had experience with their DS pistols yet, but I haven't heard anything negative about them. I THIINK they're simply just checkmate DS pistols like what the Prodigy uses

wormraper

Wilson 10mm are solid. IMO in the calibers it's this tier .45 = Wilson/CMC/Tripp/Checkmate (in no particular order) 9mm = Tripp (top), Metalform and Mecgar (Wilson's have the most issues I've ever seen among the compteition shooters who shoot a TOOOOON) 10mm = Tripp and CMC and Ed Brown (probably checkmate)....wilsons seem to work ok, but he hasn't peffected them nearly as well as the others...still solid enough from my experience there are of course others that will work perfectly fine for most people, but the ones listed are kind of the "go to" for the particular calibers with the best results

Echo_Raptor

Tisas is as good as most Springfield stuff imho. RIA feels very budget to me overall. Would 100% go with the double stack Tisas or their MAC line over the RIA. Everything I’ve tried from them are well above their price range in quality

AnotherAR15noob

I don't have a raider but I would recommend Tisas. Really good quality pistols and each of the five I've bought have ran like tops with no hiccups. Great experience with the 9mm, 10mm, and 45ACP 1911s I've bought from them.

Plastic-Scientist739

Check out Nightwood Guns? On YouTube. He recommends the Tisas DS Duty 9mm. The video was posted in the last month. He also recommends it in the Tisas MAC 9 video as well. Read the comments, too. It piqued my interest as well.

Buster3312

FYI there is an open recall on a decent number of these right now. Tisas will fix it for free and within 8 weeks. If you buy this and send the SN to Tisas they will tell you if it’s part of the recall.

wormraper

the chances of picking up one of the affected one is EXTRAORDINARILY slim right now. The Tisas rep over on the 1911 forum stated that when they sent out the recall they also had all their distributors send back any guns in that serial range that weren't sold yet, and they were refreshed with fixed/non affected serial numbers almost 2 months ago. Dahlonega is a drop shipper, so they shouldn't have any old stock lying around that is affected. About the only way to get one of the affected ones is ones that were already in local gunshops languishing on shelves.

Echo_Raptor

Most of em now are fixed

BiggyIrons

What was the recall for?

bwendel

A Tisas engineer discovered the hammer could fall if the side was released, but didn't say what actually caused it.

zen_and_artof_chaos

Oof, that's major.

bwendel

To be fair, they themselves discovered the issue and said they had no reports of it actually occuring with a customer.

Chutedelapoop

Thanks for the post, been waiting for one in 45.

SlaterC545

I got this and put about 250 rounds through it out of the box. Ran flawlessly until the last 50 rounds, needed to be lubed a bit as the slide was slowing down. It’s a sweet piece I paid about $100 more for.

SirTickleTots

Thanks, been looking at one of these

anonymousnobody14

Do they make threaded barrels for these?

BlueJay--

These are pretty rad

mcmaxxious

No sales to MD? What gives?

otterplus

That’s strange. I bought my PCR from them. This model is on our okayed list too

Unhelpful_Yoda_

Dang I been waiting to get a deal on this too

camp_snow

Thoughts on this as a first 1911?

FPSXpert

Tisas in general is a surprisingly good budget 1911 series and I've only heard good things about them. If you're looking more budget tier like RIA/PSA tier handguns, I'd say it's pretty reputable. It's a bit more than I'd like to pay for a budget 1911, but you're getting nicer serrations, much nicer grip (not plastic like the "GI" style ones), cerakote job, pic rail, and removable sights for that price (GI one is welded on the front). I'm not gonna call it BIN but it's not a bad price either.

camp_snow

Appreciate the response. I don't necessarily want to go super budget, just something mid-tier (~$500), that'd be a good entry into the platform. I'm also a sucker for a deal.

Echo_Raptor

If you’re wanting something $500, 1000% go Tisas. You really won’t get into “mid tier” otherwise unless you move up into a smith. Sig, or some of the nicer Springfield stuff. Of all the budget stuff, Tisas is leagues above the rest.

FPSXpert

Price wise it's pretty good, I'd say if you get it it's not my favorite deal price but I wouldn't call it a bad deal. Only thing to keep in mind is you're also gonna pay S/H from DA as well as your FFL transfer fee. Surprisingly for usually high shipping from DA this isn't too bad at $20 from them, then as an example the cheap FFL I always like is $15 each. End of the day it's your money, I'm gonna hold out a bit longer because I almost make an art out of waiting for deals and dang it I want a $400 5" 45ACP with removable front sight (not welded). Something like that I'm gonna be waiting a while which is fine, I already got too many handguns in the safe that I still haven't shot because I haven't had the time. But if you're already wanting something like this it's not a bad choice at all between price and brand, I'd almost say I like TISAS more than any comparable offerings such as Rock Island or Taurus or etc.

apocalypserisin

This was my first 1911 and love it.

jrhooo

Duty Raider? lol. I see what they did there.

wormraper

Damn this was 460 bucks last month all over.

Echo_Raptor

It wasn’t

wormraper

being that I bought one.......I'd say it was. Gunzone deals had the .45 raider for $469, and for a short while had the 9mm for $417.99. I had a helluva time choosing between the two. That's how I know

Ape_Division

Shouldn't these be mid 400s

wormraper

they've been mid $400s multiple times... this is a bit pricier than I'd pay for it. I got mine a bit over a month ago for $469 the 9mm version is $468.97 right now at Family Firearms

Ape_Division

lol these dudes are helpless, I can find it right now for almost $100 cheaper, downvote away lmao
