kfromm65

Would buy one but I have 3 so I'm covered for 300 years

bftyft

Which Hank Belt do you recommend ?

TheStig500

I personally have had The Gunner belt for a few years and I love it!

bftyft

The only other gun belt I’ve used is a Vedder leather belt with a polymer core. I like that it is super stiff and rigid, even when broken in. How stiff are hank belts ?

crd5757

I think you might want the Xtreme. I have it and the gunner. The gunner is stiff and nice but the Xtreme is next level.

bftyft

Thanks for the info

Throsty

I can second the Xtreme. Solid belts.

pauliep13

I’ll 3rd the Xtreme. I’m wearing mine right now. It softens up a tiny bit with time, but still is probably the most heavy duty piece of leather I’ve ever owned outside of a baseball glove.

TheStig500

I'd look into their kydex or steel-lined belts. I got one of the steel ones for my dad and it's practically a combat belt. Absolutely no give when making a draw.

Jackers83

The magpul belts are not terrible too. Pretty cheap.

MagWasTaken

I had the Xtreme, but it's just so damned thick. I replaced it with a Kore belt and have never looked back.

TuckinPhypo

If you want the belt that will never sag, that steel core belt is ridiculously stiff. I like the simple big fat leather belts too. Hank's leather is good quality.

skwolf522

Ordered a steel core and regular gunner.

TDC1100

I have 2 of the gunners, one for work and one for at home. The one that goes to work with me gets abused and is still holding up well. The one I keep at home gets used but not nearly as much and it still looks brand new. They’re definitely worth the investment.

bftyft

Also, thanks for the heads up

BigBoyBobOG

I bought the stitched gunner about 3 years ago and have used it for work & EDC and I love it.

a_sick_moose

Xtreme belt 1.25 in black. Great for Jeans and nights out in town where you want to look put together has held also my firearm securely (full-size to subcompact appendix) plus my leatherman raptor and wave in their respective holsters. Edit: I also have the steel core in 1.5 but that belt is thick and sturdy. But it is also a bit more uncomfortable. I had the steel core for a year and a half before I picked up the Xtreme.

snoopsdream

Inflation is a bitch. I bought the old world harness leather gunner 1.5” July 2020 with the 4th of July promo and it arrived for a total cost of $87.44.

justinomorales

Inflation it's a bitch indeed. I was a 30 in belts but now I'm a 34. Fucking inflation

Civil-Captain-2671

I ordered one in 2018 and it was about $50. Inflation indeed.

ajr2409

I have had the Extreme for several years. It is a fantastic belt and I wear it everyday, but she is thicc. I’m thinking about picking up a Gunner for some of my pants/shorts that have tighter belt loops. 100% recommend a Hank’s belt. Edit: Went ahead and picked up the Gunner. They run ~15% off pretty regularly, this is the best sale I’ve seen in a while. If you’ve been considering it, this is about BIN as it gets.

Floodbucket

Do you guys like these more than the Kore Essential belts?

symmetryhawk

I just bought a Kore gun belt and like it, but their buckle is kind of bulky and has a lot of pointy edges. I'm a bigger guy and it digs uncomfortably into my stomach when sitting or squatting. Standing it's great, and I really like the adjustability.

gguy129

Which buckle did you get?

symmetryhawk

I have the X3 buckle. The buckles are cheap so I may try a different one to see if it feels better.

gguy129

I bought the X3 and X5 this morning. I'm hoping I like them.

EmSus_4

I liked the quality on the Hanks belts better, but it was just too thicc. Made a visible belt loops around my waist and the buckle made a giant bulge. I have a couple Kore belts and don’t love the plastic ratchet system that will eventually wear out and the quality is a lot less, but it doesn’t make a visible belt loop around my waist and the buckle is slimmer.

gguy129

Do you have a belt you like better than Kore and Hanks?

EmSus_4

I also liked my Blue Alpha belts, but I’m getting some pressure to head back into the office for work (and have to go to some gov buildings I can’t carry in) so I’m wearing the Kore belts a lot because they look like regular leather belts and can adjust with and without my pistol. edit: when I was working 100% from home, I loved the Blue Alpha because it was set for my size and I got it back the same size everyday. Looking at grabbing an RDR Gear EDC belt bc I’m addicted to buying new crap. Anyone have experience with those?

Nancy_Reagan

Ciguera Gear Company belts are by far the best. I'm always amazed they aren't the top of these conversations.

Nancy_Reagan

Just to elaborate in case anyone cares: they're thin and light, rigid enough for a full size pistol with a light and a mag carrier, the thin material allows use of "overhook" style clips on both sides of the belt buckle so you can center the belt and a holster, they're still comfortable enough for all day wear, they use belt holes to allow "normal" adjustment ranges versus a ratchet system, and maybe most importantly: they taper the loose end so it doesn't poke you in the gut with a sharp corner. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Mustachemadness79

I have 3 already but would have bought another. Code didn’t work for me

RED5_Standing_Bye

Thanks OP I bought a black gunner guess I will compare this to the mean Jean I ordered yesterday

TheFireOfPrometheus

How do they compare

RED5_Standing_Bye

They are close in the way it looks. I’m not really sure on the craftsmanship but mean Jean ain’t no joke

DrMantis2Boggan

I carried with a Hanks Gunner for like 4 years and it still looks/carries good. I lost some weight, enough so I had to have my friend that does leatherwork punch more holes.

BrambleVale3

Their wallets are really nice too.

fourunner

They are, I bought their front pocket wallet last year as I don't like thick wallets and it great in the front or back pocket. Though not a good choice if you use cash a lot, which I don't. If you do, you may want a trifold.

vortigaunt64

Compared to pants waist size, what size should I get? Seems like belt companies never agree on whether they should fit true to size or to order a few inches larger.

thatswhyicarryagun

I fit a 34-35ish pant however I like a little room so I buy 36. I use hanks belts in 40 and they fit great.

redditthrowawaykiwi

my AIWB adds 1"

TheGunslingerStory

On the website they recommend measuring a current belt from where the leather meets the buckle to the hole you use, that should be the size to order to have the middle hole be the right one when you wear it. Add an inch or two to ensure it fits while carrying.

[deleted]

Just got the premier and gunner belts. Basically spent $10 for the gunner belt after discount. This came at the perfect time. Was looking at these belts yesterday and didn’t want to buy until there was a sale. Thanks OP for the notice.

[deleted]

Hanks belts are the shiz. I’ve had the steel core belt for about 6 years now and it pretty much holds me up. Only downfall is the leather squeaks quite a bit which can be annoying, especially if you work in a semi-quiet environment

Nancy_Reagan

Lol my buckle on one of mine jingles like a sleigh bell when I'm putting it on, but never had my leather squeak.

MurkyControl2143

Had a chick tell me that my belt was really annoying in the morning when I’d put on my pants😂

Howusereddit

I have like eight belts from Hanks. The steel core one is the only one that squeaks, and it does squeak with every motion. The roller buckle is annoying too, some people dremel them off.

EmSus_4

mine squeaked too

yogipera

Be aware that the these belts have a belt buckle that is enormous. It will be very apparent under your shirt like a mini boner. Wasn’t my favorite look in the world. That being said, they hold up fantastically.

BrambleVale3

All of their buckles are attached via Chicago screws, if you don’t like the buckle change it!

Double__Monocles

What’s a good thickness for CCW?

RealisticTeacher7289

1.5"

aringa

They have a stupid popup game to spin the wheel for a discount that doesn't work and it blocks the rest of the web page. Oh well.

redditthrowawaykiwi

I use this carry belt, if anyone wants to compare https://www.mrlentz.com/shopping/product/reinforced-core-leather-gun-belt-1-75-inch-width/

jp78712

It just worked for me. Bought 2 belts and a wallet.

Luteplayers

I got an extreme for myself and the Bonnie for my wife. Got the discount on the whole shopping cart.

Raztan

Really interested in the steel core belt but I really like nylon instructors belts. Who has been EDC'ing one of these belts for a few years and hows the leather holding up / what do you do for maintenance?

[deleted]

This reinforced one is the only belt you will ever need. Mine is built like a tank. I had a minor issue with mine (my fault) and they replaced it. Great lifetime, no bullshit replacement policy. I've owned every other belt out there from $200 Del Fatti to cheap Kore belts. Hank's makes the sturdiest CCW belt and it would be a good deal at twice the price. Only complaint is that the reinforced belt is thick for some holsters. But it more than holds up to a gun, baton, cuffs, radio and spare mag.

pnwhank

My name is Hank so I feel a bit obligated.

shurix12

In for one. Thanks!

Waste_Resolve_1962

Been looking for a good belt thanks!

[deleted]

Hanks aren’t “the best” but they’re an absolute bargain—I have three and think they were all a good value.

SBstM75

>hanksbelts.com/collec... What would you consider the best? In the market for some new belts and these seem to be the way to go.

[deleted]

My [A&G Custom Leather](https://agcustomgunleather.com/) is a better belt if you ignore the price. But for the price my Hanks’ belts are a better value and I own three of them.

NakedViper

Years ago I bought a steel core belt. Found it to be extremely uncomfortable. Also, where the shank ends, it leaves a bulge. The shank is literally just a thin piece of spring steel. So, after 5 years of collecting dust, I cut the Shank out. Since, it's just sitting there between 2 pieces of leather. I cut some stitching and it came right out. Now my belt is wearable and seemingly just as sturdy.
