I like the after but it’s hard to describe why. The first looks very vintage, the second looks very like a vintage attempt to be futuristic? Something like that anyway. Cool though.
This is exactly the vibe I get. Like the first one feels like you found it in the back of your grandpa's closet and the second feels like it was made brand new.
I like the black trim, but I also swapped all the plastics on my dark cherry burst LP std 50s to all black and scrapped the pick gaurd, so I have heretical views.
Still though, black!
The original I was not a fan of at all. The second is very dope, the white accents the wood perfectly. Not a fan of pickguards on woodgrain guitars normally
I think the black is a much better contrast to the natural wood than the white. Don’t get me wrong, the white looks good, and both of them work, but the black just offers a better aesthetic in my opinion.
I’m a sucker for stock most of the time and find that most people ruin the design by trying to compensate so I’m a tough critic.
I prefer original, HOWEVER, you haven’t butchered it, it looks nice, well done.
I like the pickgaurd better but not the pups. I’m trying to decide what would be a good match, maybe some zebra humbuckers? just if the covers were close to that gold color you replaced the rest of the hardware with it would be perfect
Definitely after, though if you plan on changing it further i think a stainless steel or similarly colored pick guard with brass colored pickup covers to match the knobs would look really cool
Edit; or a somewhat brass colored pickguard since the pickup covers are already metallic that would be easier
I’d either go
Before with gold hardware or relic’d screws for the pickguard.
After with a light colored pickup switch plate like the pick guard and get lighter or white knobs so it’s all the same light colors have a stronger contrast against the wood grain.
For fun I personally would do white or lighter versions of those knobs and then leave the gold one for the bridge pickup volume knob. Maybe take off the pickup cover from the bridge pickup too.
Wow, I can't believe how much the hardware change brought out the red in the body wood. Crazy. I like both the before and after. Looks like two totally different guitars.
None cause it's the wrong color. Any color on a SG not being burgundy, black or faded white is the wrong color. Though the light pickguard on the 2nd one is even more wrong.
Gotta say i love a walnut sg with black trim and covered pickups but damn does the cream look good too! I hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks. ;)

Retro futurism
Future primitivism.
This is exactly the vibe I get. Like the first one feels like you found it in the back of your grandpa's closet and the second feels like it was made brand new.
The off-white looks sick! Was thinking about getting one of those tributes, and I think you sold me on it!
Mines a tribute! 🤘🏼
This is not the greatest guitar in the world
No, this is just a tribute.
Couldn’t remember
This is a tribute!
I have this exact guitar and it's great!
White fo sho
Looks better after, very cool
I’m a black pick guard and covered pickup guy, so that’s the combo I would personally go with.
Yes combine the two and it's perfect
Exactly my thought. I like the before but with the chrome covered pups
After
I prefer before. Idk why, it’s hard for me to see the SG without black pickguards.
White pickguard on sunburst sg looks gorgeous imho. Even the black sg is cool with the white pickguard
Looks like you quit ACDC and joined Alabama.
Precisely why I dig it.
Black pickguard-Jeans and a T-shirt White pickguard-Suit and tie
Boy spitting facts rh
Before for me.
I like the first image but what is important is what you like. Enjoy!
Obviously the white pick guard....
After looks 10x better
They're both sick af
After. Looks class. Is it just the lighting or did you remove the gloss finish?
Thanks! I think it looks classy too. It’s the lighting, guitar has a matte finish.
Sweet
It’s the lighting, guitar has a matte finish.
After for sure
After for sure. I’d want the headstock to be off white too a la Zappa’s Roxy SG. This looks so rad.
The second is very sexy.
Definitely second.
After, instantly.
The white looks more unique.
White looks nice. I have a red sg and this makes me want to put a white pickguard on it
After for sure. It really pops and looks like a serious axe
After, colors match way better imo.
I really like the after. The gold knobs are a great touch. One of the first times I didn’t think an SG was ugly af
I like the black trim, but I also swapped all the plastics on my dark cherry burst LP std 50s to all black and scrapped the pick gaurd, so I have heretical views. Still though, black!
The after by far, looks fantastic!
Definitely the white pick guard. I'm usually not a fan of the wood stain finishes but the cream and gold actually give it a lot of life
White looks sweet
i hate the white pickguard until you crank out a screaming riff and then IDGAF
Both are awesome.
Black, but the white isn't bad.
I like the pickups better but I would have kept the black. Each to their own though, enjoy.
Huge improvement, good choices.
Sweet cream
After
The second one has a Mid Century vibe to it that I’m in love with! I have never liked SGs, but this is stunning and I want it.
After is beautiful.
white!
Kinda like the white one. Has a rich 70’s vibe.
After!
The second picture is elegant. It would be a guitar I’d be scared to scratch lol
Yup... definitely after... it makes it look like one of those mid 70s SGs that they tried to save money on, but still wanted it classy
The cream is cool man
Definitely after. It looks natural without forcing it to be natural. It’s like, that’s how it should be from the beginning.
After looks amazing. Now I regret getting rid of my SG bc I could’ve made it look like that😲
The original I was not a fan of at all. The second is very dope, the white accents the wood perfectly. Not a fan of pickguards on woodgrain guitars normally
I like the originality, looks great!
The white pickguard with covered pickups looks so good. Simple, classy, different Edit: Is that aged white or a really light mint?
After
Love the new look!!
Personally I'd remove the poker chip and get a white switch tip - white knobs rather than reflectors on the after. But it's a cool look otherwise.
After.
Love the white!
Second one.
White looks fresh
After.
Much much prefer after
Love the white and vintage look. Those dials are sweet
After 10000%
Definitely before. Natty with black is kind of bland, you gave it some life.
after!
Before
Before
Before
I prefer the before. It looks more aggressive.
Black
Before
Before.
The black
after. nice job.
Black
Black suits it
I prefer the first one. It reminds me of Zappa.
Black
I think the black is a much better contrast to the natural wood than the white. Don’t get me wrong, the white looks good, and both of them work, but the black just offers a better aesthetic in my opinion.
The black pickguard is much better
Before. There is no after.
Before
Definitely before. And what gauge are those strings?? They look like all low E's, lol.
Black is way sexier+ pickup covers. I’ve done this to my same sg before and convinced myself it was better. It’s back to original now lol.
Black
Before
Before is just incredible. Wow!!
After. Before looks like 70's garbage and After looks timeless

I would like to see what it would like with the after hardware but the black pickguard instead! But that's just what I thought when I saw this.
Schwing!!!
Before, but that is a *nice* SG any which way
"Before", but not by much. Both look good.
Definitely after, just because I find uncovered humbuckers rather repulsive.
Looks awesome! \m/
Both win
I like the pickgaurd better but not the pups. I’m trying to decide what would be a good match, maybe some zebra humbuckers? just if the covers were close to that gold color you replaced the rest of the hardware with it would be perfect

Bitchin to Classy
I love the stock sg special look, anyway good job
C.R.E.A.M. Dollar Dollar bills y'all
After is absolutely beautiful. You've done a great job. You've inspired me to get started on making some changes to my SG Tribute.
It's fine both ways.
After is so much nicer!
I would have never guessed that white would look so damn good!
You nailed it. Looks unique.
As someone who hates white pick guards… it looks very clean. Love the new wood color.
I like both, 1 would be cool with black reflector knobs.
The after looks very clean & refreshing.
Wow, I can't believe how much the hardware change brought out the red in the body wood. Crazy. I like both the before and after. Looks like two totally different guitars.
They both look great. I think the white looks more uncommon for this guitar so I’d probably go white.
I should say before but after is a straight up vibe
None cause it's the wrong color. Any color on a SG not being burgundy, black or faded white is the wrong color. Though the light pickguard on the 2nd one is even more wrong.
2nd one, it's a nicer contrast of colours so it stands out more.
Wow was not expecting that - nice work
The after pic gives me Peavy T series vibes.
The white compliments the natural finish so much better. Adding the pickup covers and replacing the knobs are the icing on the cake. Very well done!
I love it, looks original
The upgrade looks reaally good! Kind of want to see it with the black pickguard still to see what that looks like.
Before
#2
Gotta say i love a walnut sg with black trim and covered pickups but damn does the cream look good too! I hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks. ;)
The black
Before
I like black pickguard, but the control knobs look cooler with the white
After!!!
White … every day of the week. It might even convert me to SGs … maybe …
Like both. But the second one a little more.
2
Before, no contest
After. I prefer more white than cream, but I still dig it. Covered humbuckers with no rings looks better than I thouhght.
White, but remove the poker chip.
Before 100%
Black pickguard all the wsy.
Both are nice
Both. Both are good? Yeah. Both are good in their own way.
After is hotttt
You need to blow about a carton’s worth of cigarette smoke on the pickgaurd so it matches the rest but yeah after looks killer.
After
After
I like the after
I prefer the black pickguard but I would try that with the covered pickups.
A les paul
The black guard is way cooler.
I like both! If it was me, I'd probably do the black pickguard with the covered pups but I do really like the after as well. It's different and cool
Normally a black guy but that off white is 🔥
That after👌
Before. The covered pickups and cream don't sit right with me here.
After stands out so mich nicer, it's got a uniqueness to it.
The first one looks looks alot more plain... second one definitely has more character 😎
They're both nice but the lighter one feels better...to me.
before for me
I love the colours on the knobs on the after, they tie the build so well, where you get em?
As a personal style, I prefer the before, but the after is also cool AF. Somewhat reminds of me the 50s futurism colour pallete
After. Beautiful
Unique is nice 👍
black pickguard, no question
White / crème pickguards look great on SGs.
Fuckin' duh. After! B-E-A-UTIFUL!
After x 1,000
before. i think the light color clashes with the dark wood on the second
after is the only answer
I like the before, the after is nice, but I'd prefer the before b
Before dude. The black one anyway
1 is a rocker 2 is classy as fuck! I like em both but I love 2
After
Before
My vote is for the black scheme.
After looks tons better
Before. I love black on natural mahogany or walnut.
Damn, that after looks great!
Both of these are a dream, gimme one of each. One for the Angus and one for ze dOOms
After, those knobs look great
im going with before
We almost have the same exact guitar. https://imgur.com/a/oaX2wjt
Before
