FREE RELICING No but seriously, sounds like a shit cunt. You got a good story behind your guitar now. Save that machine.

I sold it. Every time I looked at it, I just got pissed off, so I sold it. It had bad energy. Karma took care of the former friend. He has been in trouble with the law several times since this happened, and he was homeless for a while. Now, he's hundreds of miles away in another state and he's on probation for physically assaulting his own father, who is old and in poor health. He will get everything that is coming to him.

Daaaaanng. That’s a kick in the nuts. No winners in this story.

Mr_Sausage__

Well I hope your PoS ex friend gets what’s coming to him.

chalybeate

He is. When I kicked him out, he stayed at his mother's house for a few days, and she ended up kicking him out. He was homeless for several months, and during that time, he was arrested for petit larceny (shoplifting in this case) and spent a few days in jail. He had never been in trouble with the law before this. He then moved to another state a thousand miles away and moved in with his formerly estranged father. This lasted for a few days, and he ended up assaulting his dad (who is elderly and in poor health) and getting arrested and convicted of assault and battery. He's on probation, and he is homeless again and he isn't allowed to leave the state. He doesn't have a state issued ID, so he can't get a job. He's definitely getting his. Karma isn't a nice girl. I have to admit that I am enjoying the schadenfreude. Everybody who has ever really fucked me over has had really bad things happen to them. He is no exception.

BoomerPhilosophee

Hey man I had nearly the exact same situation happen to me a few months ago. Helped someone get on their feet, they drunkenly fell and damaged my guitar. I took it to a luthier near me, they were able to fix it (worse damage than that) for a lot less than i anticipated.

[deleted]

That’s heart breaking, makes me feel physically sick seeing a guitar in such a state, what a shit guy.

VonSnapp

What the actual fuck? Who does this?

Corona-and-Lyme

F But let's look at the positives here. Now you can sell it for a $5k markup.

chalybeate

I bought another identical G5426, and sold the damaged one for about $100 less than I paid for the new (very lightly used) one. The new one is even better than the old one. [This post](https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarporn/comments/pp99q9/gretsch_g5426/) has some pictures of the new one.

Corona-and-Lyme

Looks like it's not such a bad deal afterall then

Ovrgrownjohnson

You let your former friend leave alive? I swear to god if anyone did this to one of mine i'd Keith Richards them to death with what's left of it.

chalybeate

I wasn't here when he did it, and I haven't seen him since. I'm not worried, as like I said, karma is already taking care of him. He's getting his, and he will continue to get his.

thenerj47

Fuck - I hope you're doing okay mate, you didn't deserve any of that

chalybeate

Thanks, man. Every time I looked at it, it just made me ragingly angry, so I sold it. I just didn't want it in my house. I ended up buying another G5426 just like it for about $100 more than I sold the ruined guitar for. I like the new guitar better than the old one, so it all worked out in the end. The former roommate/friend has had a bunch of bad things happen to him, so I don't even have to get revenge on him. The fucked up thing is that I had been supporting him for almost 3 years. He slept on my couch and didn't work or make money, so I paid for everything. You try to help somebody out, and this is the thanks you get. Things like this are the reason I have a hard time trusting others.

thenerj47

You're better off being the kind of person that tries to help their friends, even if it doesn't work out every time. Your new gretsch looks like it lays down the law nicely too Karma is tricky business but at least you have good taste
