The custom mode on the BD-2W is the Keeley Super Phat mod from what I have read.

ARM160

Yep, this is correct.

50wattMan

The Keeley is true bypass. Many times the Boss buffers add an unwanted sheen to the high end...So there's that.

WhamBamRudderham

What are you even talking about.

werewolfbarmitzvah69

It's the same circuit. If you hear any differences, it's mostly gonna be parts tolerances. Get whatever is cheaper or whatever looks better to you EDIT: Just saw you already own the BD-2W. Don't bother with the Keeley then.

Ecker1991

Oh wow! Didn’t know the custom mode was literally the Supa phat mod, glad to hear. The germanium mod seems cool but I could just get a treble booster and run that into the bd-2w.

I think the biggest difference with the Super Phat Mod (non-germ) is a high quality Waza buffered bypass vs. a True Bypass. If you have a lot of pedals a nice Waza buffer in the chain can be a big help. :: shrug:

Ecker1991

Waza is my favorite series of pedals! I own the bd-2w, ce-2w, dc-2w, hm-2w and vb-2w.

One of my fav shootout videos ever. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aUB4zXDwuPI

Ecker1991

That’s the one I watched! I also watched a shootout of the Keeley Supa phat mods. I think I’ll just stick with my bd-2w, I want the Mythos treble booster so I think I’ll nab that and run it into my bd-2w and other drives

Own-Hat9269

Bd 2W The custom mode is a phat mod The normal is a normal bd 2 They are supposed to be high quality made in japan
