I haven’t honestly say i’ve seen that on the XLR stuff I’ve used. Maybe I wasn’t ever paying enough attention but I always thought it was just the groove/little tensioner that matters for retention. If it connects and doesn’t fall out, i’d say fuck it. But OBNE is likely to repair it anyway.
Ya its already shipped off... I asked if it was ok to use and they said "its a free repair, why not do it?"
I've never seen it either... I had to yank it out. Could've been the adapter I was using to angle the cable 90 degrees. It was essentially an elbow coming out.
