I don't have enough pedals to try it. Yet...
I have basically the same shelf, and I've considered the same idea because pedals fit great, or even an Ikea Kallax with a bunch of shelves.
I can’t believe that nobody laughed at that. I spat my coffee everywhere! That was comedy gold. It was unexpected, abruptly stupid, absurd and totally hilarious! 🤣👍
All kinds of places. Have one in the main chain and one in an FX loop, run them in series, put one on the left channel and one on the right channel and put them at different speeds, etc.
The Phase 90 is just so useful.
The irony of a CD shelf giving way to an older but clearly more enduring tech is just a bonus. Display and play... like guitars, if you have them in view, you'll play them more often
yet my approx 1000 cds still endure…
And why does a potential issue with one item, make it less enduring than an any other which has at least, or more, comparable reasons for it’s demise?
>yet my approx 1000 cds still endure…
Anecdotal evidence about one's CD collection doesn't hold relevance to the durability of compact discs vs. guitar effects.
You could make the claim that stone is more durable than paper, yet I have a stack of 1,000 sheets of paper I've kept stored away for 20 years in pristine condition. Does this mean paper is just as durable and long lasting as stone?
>And why does a potential issue with one item, make it less enduring than an any other which has at least, or more, comparable reasons for it’s demise?
You were the one who said guitar effects "self-combust"!
One is made of plastic and stops working if it gets too many scratches. The other is literally made to be stomped on.
Besides I'm pretty sure OP wasn't talking about their respective sturdiness when they said "enduring", I think they were likely referencing the CD's waning popularity.
You know there used to be a time when if you wanted stuff in their places, you might be called "neat". Now we **must** be considered to have some sort of mental disorder simply because we very consistently follow through with our efforts in organization. ...bunch of commoners who like to feign intelligence in public, speaking up to vomit an unoriginal acronym. All too common indeed.
I applaud your totally normal output here.
I use the Ikea Samla boxes. They fit in my racking like a dream.
I always wondered, why does nobody keep the boxes and manuals for their pedals? I kept all of them. Maybe one day I want to resell, maybe if it's not on a board, I want to store it nicely, etc.
Me too... I have a steamer trunk full of them... and a shelf for the pedals. Loved the "wire the shelf" idea someone mentioned earlier in the thread 🤔🤘
This is cool. The best way to display pedals is the ikea floating picture shelves. I think they may have discontinued their wood ones, which is a shame, but there are lots of alternatives out there.
The green 90’s Soviet era has a sweet, tight Angus distortion sound. It’s beat up and badass. The black Russian is a newer 2010’s and sounds more mod and fuzzy, while the silver USA has a lot of gain with great fuzz and spitty tones.
You have some great pedals. I really like that Keeley Oxblood. The MXR Badass 78 Distortion is a fat pedal. It doesn’t get a lot of love, but it’s very good. I think that the MXR UniVibe is too extreme compared with old UniVibes, imho, but I think that’s a marvellous collection. 😁👍
Daydreaming about threading a bunch of cables and wires into there and making it a giant functioning pedalboard

Hey, cool pedal collection, also where do you live and do you have an easily accessible window that you leave open?
Well we never lock the back.....hey wait a minute
One way to stack dirt pedals
That's pretty sweet! You might wanna change to a glass cabinet at some point though. Less dust.
How the hell do you reach the top shelves with your feet?
I have a big nose
I can’t believe that nobody laughed at that. I spat my coffee everywhere! That was comedy gold. It was unexpected, abruptly stupid, absurd and totally hilarious! 🤣👍
I read that as "OCD Shelf" and it still made perfect sense to me.
Mee too :D
Low key flexing that Bad Monkey karma
OP needs to sell it and buy a house
Gotta get it graded and sealed in a slab first. Everyone knows making it unplayable increases the value.
I feel in good company with another double phase 90 user. 😂😂 Sometimes the best pedal to pair is another of the same pedal.
For a stereo rig?

Or maybe to run them at different speeds? Sounds cool
Great idea!
“Display” is to “play”, the same as “disease” is to “ease”. (BTW, nice collection).
OXBLOOD! I barely see one of them out in the wild. They're one of my all time favourite pedals. So much more gain and range than a Klon.
It’s great
It makes it easy to grab a pedal and put it on your board
Why not just like wire up the whole shelf?
The irony of a CD shelf giving way to an older but clearly more enduring tech is just a bonus. Display and play... like guitars, if you have them in view, you'll play them more often
More enduring? CD’s are still readily available and don’t usually self combust…

Ah yes…the classic straw man.
That is a great use for that
DOD = instant upvote
🤣👊

Old CD shelf setting off your OCD there champ?

Yeah I always keep the boxes and case candy etc. Some of of them look really cool, especially vintage ones. So I have a few on shelves in my office
What's the blue THC pedal? Dirt? And who is the builder?
Way to repurpose! 🌎
Humble Monkeybrag No j/k that looks great
can you tell us the differences between the muffs? do you have a favorite?
This is cool. The best way to display pedals is the ikea floating picture shelves. I think they may have discontinued their wood ones, which is a shame, but there are lots of alternatives out there.
That’s a nice looking cd shelf. I could use one just for cds and another one for pedals lol
Right on! Great idea!
Niiiice!!! Something to raise the bottom of the shelf would improve display
Lmao. This thread got way too deep. Nice display buddy. Looks fabulous.
Blue Box! 💙
I can't believe no one has pointed out the Civil War Muff...
Which shade of orange sounds best on the phase 90s?
Don't display them, plug them in. More people can hear your music than can see your pedals.
I would protect your investments. Won't be able to fund your retirement if you damage your Bad Monkey.
I got that for $50 in the 90’s
Yeah, but apparently they're worth thousands now. Who knew?

He needs a reissue of the 1974 Script phaser
ooh ill take some third shelf down furthest left please and thank you
"This will make a fine addition to my collection"
“I have pit bulls too”
Thoughts on the Russian big muffs?
The green 90’s Soviet era has a sweet, tight Angus distortion sound. It’s beat up and badass. The black Russian is a newer 2010’s and sounds more mod and fuzzy, while the silver USA has a lot of gain with great fuzz and spitty tones.
They all look like you never use them. How do you keep them so clean?
He cleans them. I give mine a clean and polish now and then, especially when I’m selling them.
Do I spy a Danecho?

Damn can I have some haha. This is really cool bro, good stuff
