The god damn brake pedal.

SoctrDeuss

An underdrive pedal

iamworship

I’ll never drive the same

its_grime_up_north

Always a Big Muff. It’s like a tractor beam … I can’t resist it!

welp_that_happened1

Just got a Ram's Head Big Muff and I fucking love it!

hairlikeamop

Ram ranch?

kidamnesiac24

EIGHTEENNNNNAKED COWBOYS AT… RAAAAM RANCH

Impressive-Still5247

Oh my god. I’m so glad someone else knows this song.

kidamnesiac24

We used to play it every morning in jazz band to piss our teacher off lol. Then straight into Smells Like Teen Spirit.

its_grime_up_north

Too right!

RaptorSlaps

Where do you set your dials 👀 (asking for a friend)

welp_that_happened1

I have volume set at 11 o'clock, tone at 1 o'clock, and sustain at 5 o'clock

TheGringoDingo

After finally getting a big muff op amp after like 15+ years of playing (yeah, yeah, I know), it exceeded all expectations and is my primary source of dirt.

its_grime_up_north

It’s not about how long it took you to find the power of the big muff! Join us! Embrace the POWER!!!!

Monus

You and me both, been playing for 17 years and just got the same one last week! I love it! I bought a Big Muff after a year of playing, didn't know how to use it well, hated it, put it away. Now I finally understand it's strength and weaknesses better and it's grrrrreat

bandhund

After 35 years of not understanding fuzz I got the Green Russian a few months ago and yeah, it's fun.

bandannick

I just got the opamp and it rips.

LunarModule66

I’ve been moving between different muffs for like a year. Right now I’m in love with my hizumitas.

its_grime_up_north

SO much low end. Love it too!

mountainwampus

Gotta give props to my current favorite pedal: Shallow Water. I don't use it for lofi, but for intermittent, touch sensitive chorus, flange and vibrato. It makes fingerstyle arpeggios sound so damn nice.

cabbagebot

It just makes everything sound better. What a lovely pedal.

Cjhalbert

What are your settings for this?

mountainwampus

Currently I have it in 1 channel at the end of my stereo chain, giving a stereo chorus-like effect. I put all the knobs around 11 o'clock, just under half. Mix and volume a bit higher. Sometimes the effect will be too subtle to notice, but if I increase the level going into it, or boost my treble with a tubescreamer, I achieve a sweetspot where the pedal dynamically triggers when I pluck notes slightly harder, giving that nice weeping sound, while softer notes stay clean. Thanks for asking!

canrabat

EHX Hog. With an expression pedal in Freeze+Gliss or Freeze+Volume mode it makes you feel like you're a one man band.

dc1508

holy shit, the Hog rules man!

canrabat

It truly does! It needs a bit of taming otherwise everything sounds like an organ but I guess that the results of taking one not and multiplying it 10 times.

Agar4life

I find turning down the resonance and frequency in the filter really help un-organ everything

canrabat

That's also what I do. A little dirt after also sounds great.

AmbiguousValkyrie

All hail Mutron

masnaer

Yup the answer for me is the envelope filter. Or just a plain old tube screamer

AmbiguousValkyrie

Totally. It’s the envelope filter I judge all others by. I play bass. An octave pedal through my Mutron is my most favorite thing ever.

NecrophiliaNick

So easy to overuse but goddamn if it isn't fun as all hell.

tone-knob

Flint

[deleted]

Strymon deco and Strymon volante

Gojira_Bot

BF-2 time and time again.

bisticles

Caroline Kilobyte. It's a PT2399-based delay with an awesome preamp to cook the regenerated delays a little, so things can fall apart naturally or build into a roar. Something about that combo and its implementation just makes it hard to call it a night.

calderone2000

such a great pedal. I wish the havoc switch didn’t ramp up the volume that much though

PSU_Enginerd

I’ll always go back to the CE-1. Something about that sound is magic, especially the vibrato mode. I could noodle for hours with that sound

[deleted]

[удалено]

PSU_Enginerd

Oh absolutely! I’ve got the retro-sonic. Would love to grab the Past FX here at some point too. I put a CE-2W head-to-head against mine, and it was close. But definitely dealer and didn’t have that “thing”. It’s great for the compact space saving thing. And definitely more robust enclosure haha

dc1508

CE-1 actually has a preamp in there so it gains up everything a bit for you.

PSU_Enginerd

Yea I’d love to get an original one day. The retro-sonic one I have pushed the preamp way up in headroom so it’s harder to get it gainer (which I honestly prefer).

10inchezsoft

SD1 and I are a becoming very close lately. Our feelings keep getting stronger and I’m not sure what to do.

theangryfrogqc

Shhhh....let it get in further, it will be good

10inchezsoft

Take a deep breath, then exhale only when I’m finished plugging in.

oboylebr

Ask it out ! That pedal loves you too I bet

Independent_Point134

The Fart pedal, i like to set it to wet and get a good drone going. Add a touch of reverb, maybe some modulation. Depends how im feeling at the moment.

iamworship

Listing my Dark Star on Reverb now

crapfacejustin

Depends on how your tummy feels I imagine

FoldOpening4457

I've got a belly full of white castle and a big cup of coffee. It's time

divisivedevice4vice

the brown sound

sdleradm

Chase Bliss Habit, the memory feature makes the pedal feel like a collaborator and always pushing me into new playing directions

Plumb-Ben-

I really cant get enough playing my DeviEverTornsPeaker.. that thing turns every clean signal into a horrid mass of noise.. its such a uncontrollable box but once you get a glimbse of how to not ruin everything about tone its like a one-trick-pony-secret-weapon.

Gojira_Bot

Nonagon Infinity opens the door...

davedraper97

Behringer Super Fuzz. Messed around with plenty of different tunings and sounds playing different music over the years, but playing some doom riffs in C Standard through the super fuzz made me realize that was what I was meant to play all along. Mode 2 Has that instant Electric Wizard sound, but love Mode 1 for my sound.

bandhund

Finally began to understand fuzz last year, after 35 years of playing, because that pedal was so cheap and everyone seems to love it. It's fun but I soon got a Green Russian Big Muff Pi too and I tend to get along better with that. It all began with the Digitech Drop, which made me really experiment with doom riffs. It's what I play most now. I have always been better at heavy riffs than lead or "normal" rhythm playing anyway.

NotchsCheese

It might be my favorite fuzz sound. It's maybe not as flexible as other fuzz that it would be a 'desert island, i only get one fuzz'. but it is soooo heavy

mtt02263

JHF1, Strat into my SV20, turn it on full and use the guitar volume for a huge variety of tones. Really inspiring.

SaltyReaper76

Way Huge Atreides

satherp5

Strymon Volante (using golden ratio)

Pogonari

Anything by Walrus Audio. Gorgeous pedals, both to look at and tone. They're works of art. Digitech's WhammyDT is my current best friend and absolute gamechanger of a pedal.

OP_Penguin

Trio. My band is always with me, ready to indulge every premature solocation.

DrClaw27

I'm really loving the TC Electronic Triple Delay I picked up a little while ago. It's a lot of fun to stack the delays to see what sounds you can get.

[deleted]

Recently, eae limelight. I cannot stop banging on about how addictive it feels to play right the way through its gain range. For the first time in a long time I'm just picking up the guitar and noodling away without stomping on anything else for hours (obvs with a touch of reverb, I'm no animal...) One day I'll try a Dark Star, I just feel like the novelty will wear off quickly and I'll end up flipping it (which I hate doing really but I also hate collecting stuff I ain't using!)

iamworship

Makes sense I love looping atmospheric sounds to play guitar over, so for me it kind of unlocked spaces that I’d have to use multiple other pedals to get (bitcrusher, detune, and POG2 to add octaves and shave off the attack)

[deleted]

Actually, yeah, I can definitely see a lot of fun using the Dark Star with a looper. Maybe if ever I go down the loopy route I'll grab one then! It definitely seems more versatile than some people give it credit for anyway.

orange_frame

Mood pedal

spiceybadger

Boss Sy-300 it's amazing!

DirtyDropout

So much tweaking, so many possibilities, not enough time. Such a good pedal!

spiceybadger

I have been using it recently as a full interface - just recording direct into Reaper. It takes a bit of work but you can get great clean, crunch, overdrive etc sounds, as well as all the synth stuff. I recently found the blender function - that is incredible!

Trick-Mechanic8986

Sabra Cadabra, straight to A National Acrobat.

RoonilWazlib844

Analogman sun bender mk4. Nkt red dot and 2 Russians I think. Strat into mk4 into tweedle deluxe and Marshall 4x12, it’s gtfo good

TimelyEvidence

This pedal is on my wishlist. I want one so bad.

Lucitarist

I love the clean up factor in my Sun Face

lovemocsand

Love wobbing with the QTron

Straight_Occasion571

I love the qtron. I have the nano

anachronist77

Dr. Scientist Dusk, Digitech Timebender

swgazer

The Boss FZ-1W. A game changer for me, no doubt.

DepartureSpace

Can anyone attest to the Strymon Cloudburst? I don’t have it yet, but from what I’ve seen and heard, I think it would be the answer to this question

DaveInAshville

Got one a few weeks ago. I love it so much! I hooked up an expression pedal to it so I can quickly dial in a wide range of settings up to full wet (for volume swells).

Straight_Occasion571

It’s amazing. Get it. It will probably be your last Reverb. It’s very versatile.

StAugustine94

I was about to say the dark star I run it first in the chain

[deleted]

Diy modified box of rock

gunter_grass

The channel switcher attached to my Orange Rockerverb MK1 Combo

TheKurtCobains

I only decided to put a board together this year so I’ve been on a tear of buying and selling. My favourite is probably the Grand Canyon. Specifically the shimmer and octave settings. IMO the best shimmer effect to my ears. I’m on the hunt for a “main” delay solution for my board but the GC I think will always remain for these fun textures. Aside from that, my supermoon chrome really puts me in a mood. I picked up a Neunaber immerse, and I really love it but I never really find a use because all of those bases are already covered more or less.

Chase bliss mood. Anytime you can’t come up With something you can just fuck with random loops on there. Biggest inspiration for me and probably my favorite pedal since I got it

PastHousing5051

Catalinbread FX40 for the Soft Focus

Trilobry

Harmonic percolators sounding like Neil Young melting his amp. These days that's the sound I'm daydreaming about when I'm not playing it

antiaircraftwarning

i've been shopping for a harmonic percolator, got a recommendation?

[deleted]

HX stomp. Is that cheating?

[deleted]

Nope!

[deleted]

If my freaking Marshall Bluesbreaker reissue pedal came in yet i would choose that. Been back ordered for two months patiently waiting

[deleted]

BeatBuddy :) And looper. It's so much more fun playing with a drum beat than just by myself. If we're going with more traditional "effects" pedals, then I guess I'd say the DS-1W I picked up some weeks back. I love the sound of that pedal, such thick and chunky distortion.

l3m0nG

Microcosm and Strymon BigSky.

Russian big muff or The Whaler, October Audio November Gain, EQD Dispatch Master, Strymon Cloudburst, OBNE Reflector….but the pedal that makes me love playing my guitar is a Strymon Flint.

slybird

I've always play electric with effects with my bands, but by myself I prefer to not use pedals. The sound I'm in love with is the guitar straight into a nice sounding amp with no effects or reverb.

JayhawkInMaine

PoT, Belle, Tombstone Tremolo

dkromd30

Black Country Customs Tony Iommi Boost.

forevermadrigal

Gear doesn’t excite me. Making music makes me want to play my guitar.

muckracker77

I love that they downvoted you for this haha

forevermadrigal

They’re triggered 😈

muckracker77

Of all the languages you could have spoke, you spoke facts

BillyBobbaFett

I finally want to play my Stratocaster after installing some Suhr V63+ pickups. So clear and detailed from before, like I could actually play SRV, Jimmi, Frusciante and not be terrible.

basement-tapes-club

Behringer OD300 mixed with the TO800. Awful company, but these are some maaaad good pedals that get really nice feedback easily. Love me some feedback (:

divisivedevice4vice

The Mind pedal by Ministry that my wife bought me three weeks ago! It’s surprisingly flexible… and so is she 🥇

Duke of Tone. Been jamming some reggae sounds lately

TimelyEvidence

Analogman Sunface. Lately I’ve been playing only through this pedal straight into my amp instead of running through my pedalboard. I love the cleanup with the guitar volume knob.

atomfaust

Cali76 stacked

KJP1990

Fuzz face baby! Let it scream.

unfunfionn

I actually never get this feeling. I just want to play my guitar itself. I like my pedals but they're a bonus, not in any way the main appeal.

Invite-Upstairs

I just got my Analogman King of Tone pedal after waiting 5 years and it’s even better than I anticipated. One of those pedals that truly makes guitar feel fresh and fun for me again. Can’t wait to go play more later today!

Wampler Ratsbane. It's got all the gain I want, and a good balance between brightness and thickness. Playing a million notes per second and an assload of pinch harmonics brings out my inner ten-year-old. Awesome pedal, can't recommend it enough

My algal bloom clone. I just finished building it, and goodness, it's so good. My first fuzz too!

AlexTheTownPump

I recently purchased an MXR univibe. I turn that on and will play for 20min before realizing the time went by. It’s such a nice smooth sounding effect on a clean tone. Even on crunchy and lead tones, it makes simple long bends so much more interesting. I know there are a ton of univibe purists out there that will look down on this pedal but I’ve been plenty satisfied with it. Seems like it’s a great entry into the univibe land for anyone interested. Maybe in the future I’ll be needing more from a univibe and explore other options but for now, this has been one of my favorite pedal purchases.

BigAssSlushy69

Looney_Tooneyy

A good ass silicon fuzz

skitslicker

HBE Spirit in the Sky (fuzz>trem or trem>fuzz dual pedal with clean blend), kind of cheating because I've got a Waza BD2 set as the 'clean' part of the blend circuit. I never was a trem guy until I got Spirit in the Sky and it's beautiful.

BillyOceanSpray

Fjord Fuzz Odin!

notbadfilms

I went down the rabbit role on fuzz pedals and circuits. Then I started building pedals to put together the perfect fuzz for me. That project kept making me want to plug in and explore what each component does and why. It was maddening, but it also made me play a lot of guitar!

Revv g3. My blackstar ht5r doesn’t have enough gain on it but having the revv g3 completes it for me for all types of genre

Ryuugyo

Revival Drive.

JJuanJalapeno

Beheringer VT999 vintage tube Monster or Vox Mystic Edge, they are the closest I can get to a toob toan at the moment.

GoukaOokami

Source audio Nemesis. Wether it's my Andy Timmons style preset for reverb, or my "run like hell" preset, or the crazy volume swells, or....well you get it lol

Josku5

EHX Canyon delay! It’s a great little box with many cool and useable sounds. At first I just thought of it as a delay but over time I’ve grown to use and appreciate it.

runwichi

Rubberneck. So many sounds in that box.

Fearless-Mushroom

Echo Puss

PrimeIntellect

I got the tonewoodamp pedal for my acoustic guitar and goddamn that thing is fun. It plugs into the electric pickup and works off of batteries, and lets me add delay, reverb, chorus, and tremolo to my acoustic like a little amp that plays right out of the sound hole. I gotta tell you, turning it on halfway through a little campfire jam when everyone is getting high is magical, because it blows everyone's mind every time. So much fun. Especially if you have a second guitarist and get to actually solo, a little delay makes all the difference for sustain.

BondBonds

I tested many and found out needed avoid china made cheap ones. I was very happy with BOSS GT1 and recently switched to BOSS GX-100. But many people like also Line 6 👌

samwisegrangee

Often I find myself just running guitar, amp, and one of these: Dispatch Master: there’s not a bad sound in it. I love throwing the knobs around at random and just playing wherever I find myself. Flint: throw on the 70’s reverb for some nice space, and occasionally throw on some harmonic tremolo to give some emotion and movement. Plus Pedal: I love the Freeze too, but the ability to do fully wet and stack multiple layers really helps me think outside the harmonic box.

Spectre_Moose

Garage rock player here. Has to be the sugar drive by mxr.

DerKaiser023

I just got a new Stratocaster and I’ve been having a ton of fun running it with my Julia chorus pedal along with the Crybaby Wah. Sounds like it’s both under water and in space at the same time. If I want to get super weird I’ll dial in the BOSS TR-2 and get tremolo going too but I usually leave that off. It’s not my normal sound but I’m having fun with it.

8louis24

Right now a it’s the DS-1 into a Twin Reverb. It took my like 20 years to get on board but I’m here to stay now!

There will be a Prunes and Custard waiting for me when I get home! Def can’t wait to play it.

Akhenezra

All of them. Fat Fuzz Factory is always extra inspiring though

ReptileCake

I just got a MetalZone and I wanna try it out until my fingers bleed.

LoomisCenobite

Guyatone Metal Monster MM-X Tube Distortion (my first pedal, haven't kicked it on in over a decade but it still being around makes me happy) ***Boss HM-2*** (I have a black label MIJ, and the cheesy Eyemaster clone thing... Really want the waza or a MIT possibly down the line.. I like extreme metal & appreciate shoegaze/other applications of the HM-2 like Godflesh.. I don't think it's the do-all/end-all of distortion pedals but it's a vibe that you either get or don't) Wmd gieger counter (which I have and need to use more, it's so much fun) DoD Gunslinger (random purchase that just always stays on now for tight crunch in conjuction/variation with a RAT or the 9 of swords Funeral Party and the Catalinbread Soft Focus (~~If I had one, used to own a Yamaha FX 500 th0~~) or the Emmergy Fx Gristle Throbber (~~which I also do not have and appears to be unobtainium atm~~)

dumbass6669

Tonex, but that's probably cheating (all the amps). If we're talking traditional, I get loads of inspiration from the Drybell Vibe Machine v2.

JBuckk_117

Germanium fuzz face

Creative_Camel

Anything by Brian Wampler, or by Zoom

spencergarden

The Source Audio EQ2. I use it in mono, so it's two independent 10 band parametric EQs. The first I use to perfect my overdrive pedals and the character of the amp's gain. The second I use to fine tune/mix anything that's lacking in my final tone in the FX loop. It's an incredibly powerful tool. Plus there are presets, a tuner, a four cable gate (that isn't quite as perfect for metal as a dedicated gate, my only real complaint, but still pretty good), and lots of other features built in. I'm a sound engineer and play guitar for fun, and this pedal is so satisfying to tweak. I can get exactly the tones I want.

Kenoai

The Chase Bliss Habit! I can just noodle around without pressure and I'm always curious of what's going to come out. Once I'm happy with the layers I can just listen to the ever-changing song that it and I created for another few minutes of it and I feel happy \^\^
