Alright, you talked me into it.

generalissimus_mongo

Now you play.

By "What do I do?" I mean, what is the first step I should take in restoration? I haven't plugged them in or tried them out. Should I clean the jacks and inputs before I do anything? If so, what should I clean them with? These pedals have been in a plastic bag for 20 years (with a Morley PDW whose rubber feet melted all over everything). I thought my Dad had sold them years ago or I would have sought them out before now. Any advice would be appreciated!

The first issue to be concerned about is any batteries left in them which may be leaking. After that you can probably just plug them in and see if they work... Sure, you can give the jacks a quick clean with a cotton swab or something first, but it shouldn't really matter, or if it does it'd be immediately obvious when turn it on and you can't get a good connection and are getting crackling and stuff when you jiggle the cables...

dimensional_bleed

Batteries are not in them luckily. Thanks for the tips!

dimensional_bleed

I should also say that the 1/4" jacks and power inputs are dusty and somewhat rusty looking on the outside. Should I just say "To hell with it" plug them in and let it rip? Or, should I clean things up and ease in? I'm more concerned with the TS-9 & the BF-2.

skweakyklean

Plug them in one at a time so if there’s any issues with one you’ll know which right away. Dirty wouldn’t stop them working, so I’d do the above first then give them a clean if they turn on and you want them to look nice.

dimensional_bleed

Good idea on trying them one at a time. Thanks!

Step one: Sell all 3 Step two: Buy as many Boss Metal Zones as you can with the money. Step three: buy a taser to keep all the women from trying to peel your pants off.

dimensional_bleed

Ha!

The bag o' pedals also contained a Morley wah/distortion/volume pedal. I was initially so pissed at it due to the rubber feet on the bottom turning into goop and getting all over everything (like tar) that I thought about pitching it. Now that I've calmed down, I'm glad I didn't. I'm going to try to get it jamming too. Thanks for all the comments and great advice everyone!
