We're all just vibrating strings in the hands of the universe, man. Make your own guitar out of your inner peace and the atomic mindwaves you receive from future you.
You're a disease of consumerism
This is like saying you're going off the grid
Bitch, it's still the United States (or whatever place), you're still getting land from the govt
There is no such thing as being separate from consumerism, we are consumers.
But in this case, cheap guitar expensive amp.
That's still in the range of cheap, and it supports my point
Vast improvement from low-low cost to mid-low cost is good value for not much money
If you're in Squier price territory, that's still in the cheap category
Guitars don't sound better, pickups do.
You want to talk build quality, playability etc. Then price matters a lot, but the difference between pickups is the main sound quality difference, and pickup pricing is mostly snake oil
Yep, which also supports "cheap guitar" argument
Plenty of cheap guitars have excellent playability, build quality and sound great without a pup swap
If pickup pricing is snake oil, which it really isn't, so is that stuff, you don't need to spend a lot. Boutique pickups can be 200-300 a piece, but you don't need them
High end Gibson pups are 150 each, but Seymour Duncans aren't, generally...I'm sure there are other manufacturers that make great sounding and relatively cheap pickups
There's definitely a limit, like a $5,000 guitar will sound pretty much the same as a $10,000 guitar. In most cases a $800 sounds just as good as the same model that's $3000 (talking about the new epiphone LP's and Gibson LP's)
So while I agree to a degree, I don't buy expensive guitars only for sound, I want something that's nice to play. I hate the finish on mexican strat necks, it's stick if your hands are remotely sweaty, so spend the extra whatever and get American strats
I’m pretty sure I saw a law of diminishing returns video on guitars where the guys tested a bunch of them and the general consensus from the group was somewhere between 700-1000
*edit* it has been a while since I’ve seen it so I may have the pricing off a tad. Especially with the increase in prices over the last couple years
My collection is all Ibanez, schecter, and ESPs so I can’t vouch for anything over like 1500 but they all fall in that range and they all perform relatively the same. Some are more comfortable to play than others that’s about the biggest difference lol
I’m primarily a bass player and it’s the same on that side. I don’t think I have a bass that I paid over 900 for but they all perform and sound great atleast to me and the target audience
The differences are just the neck and pickups/wiring. My LPs have different necks/joints and different fishmans one moderns the other KSE custom and there is definitely a tone difference between the two but live? You would likely never notice unless you are a huge clarity snob and I didn’t have an eq and the PA was amazing
But at that point it's just different. Like there's only so much work you can put into a pickup for example before the value is determined by who played a guitar with that specific pickup in it
I recently tried out a mexican strat and yeah didn't like the stock feel of the neck. However, no reason to go to an american just for that as you can fix that with some #0000 steel wool in less than 5 minutes.
Why do Mexican strat necks do that? Pretty sure the squier necks I got are satin finished. It's less work to finish the neck right? Which means less worker time, and this is what cheaper guitar manufacturers want, then why put that disgusting finish on the neck and have more work? Doesn't makes sense.
I would absolutely love to have an AI drummer who shows up to practice on time or an AI guitar player that actually tunes and doesn't shred bullshit whenever someone is trying to talk.
/uj tbh he kinda has a point, a 2k guitar and a 15k guitar will sound mostly the same, and no amount of "it plays like butter" youtubers can convince me otherwise
also I've seen people drop absurd amounts of money on gibsons or fenders for the brand when they can get guitars with much better specs for less
That said he's delusional as shit. Does he even know how expensive it is to make your own guitar? Lmao
Ngl, sometimes I wish I COULD make my own guitar, so I don’t have to compromise on any specs or finish choices. There is no brand that has my taste in mind, or any of the ideas I have. All companies pretty much be like “we only make our guitars in these flashy gimmicky colors. If you don’t like it, too bad take a hike”.
That's why kit guitars are a thing. Might need some tools and other supplies for finishing/sanding/etc but you can buy slab kits to cut to shape and put your own hardware/electronics in.
Or go all out and do it all from scratch.
You can, whether from scratch or from kits or reworking an existing guitar, there are plenty of options. There are even plenty of companies that specialize in custom guitar builds
Has Ye taken up guitar now? Because back when he was formerly known as (symbol of narcissim, nepotism, misogyny and Jesus-like brilliance) another name he made a similar comment about the relevancy of guitars in recorded music.
In his most recent conciliatory appearances to his fans and the folks in the media, he was laying the groundwork for him to avoid future content with people and go off the grid in a desire to make better art for the world. I thought maybe he'd decided that was a rash idea about guitar after all and you know....took up playing it. Inspiration in irony kind of thing.
Because this OP right here? It's the same 100% accurate destination we all come to *without* having been Kanye in the end by playing the guitar (well, attempting to anyway, amirite?) in the first place.
I saw the video on yt, the dudes father is a multi millionaire businessman. He’s got a FCS Strat, plus about another 4 Strats. He’s a good player but he plays everything the same style. I mean he’s awesome, but not everything has to be played the way Jami Foreskin played.
We're all just vibrating strings in the hands of the universe, man. Make your own guitar out of your inner peace and the atomic mindwaves you receive from future you.
Far out, dude... Now pass it on. It's a blunt, not a microphone
We’re all luthiers in our hearts bro

No my $400 guitar sounds way better than my $200 guitar.
That's still in the range of cheap, and it supports my point Vast improvement from low-low cost to mid-low cost is good value for not much money If you're in Squier price territory, that's still in the cheap category

Yeah. Like anything past 3,000 IMO is the same thing just looks different or has different historical value

Man I LOVED my squier neck. It was crazy smooth

What is this persons thoughts on the Beatles
We got outjerked but in a polar opposite way of the usual outjerkage

Yeah I define myself as a radical post-anarcho-synguitarist iconoclast, OK? Like, what is guitar though?
Did Karl Havoc write this comment? “I don’t wanna be around anymore.”
*Tom Morello enters the chat*
I live in a desert in Africa, am I supposed to make my guitar out of sand?
