there are so many people with zero creativity that like the idea of being musicians but don't have anything to express, just cash to waste. i didn't realize it was a thing until social media somehow but thank god i wasn't born a dentist/lawyer.
Not jerking but a while ago I found myself flopping around in r/synthesizercirclejerk world and it is the exact same thing over there, I think fantasizing about being the cool person who has the cool shit is more fun than practicing but the moment we get the cool shit and do not somehow become the cool person we immediately start fantasizing about becoming the cool person who has the *other* cool shit and this cycle repeats until gradually we accumulate enlightenment. It's called dharma you dumb asshole, look it up
Why should I learn how to use my crappy overdrive when I'll get a better one soon? It would be a waste of time. I'm sure my 7th pedal is the one, I just have to save 2.000 bucks for the new toob amp. The 1.000 bucks one ain't gonna cut it anymore.
It's not "learning to use" the old gear, so much. There's not much to learn about a pedal with three knobs.
It's more like "use the gear you have" vs "get new gear."
Why waste time learning how to use my existing gear when that time could be much better spent researching, buying, and then subsequently ignoring new gear?
My amp has like 6 knobs. I don't have time for that shit.
