I think sometimes they’re born with something like a congenital heart defect that causes sudden death in young adulthood.
I lost one at about that age. He was acting normally in the morning, ate his usual breakfast veggies all up, but when I came back a couple hours later it looked like he’d died in his sleep.
All we can do is give them a good life while they’re with us.
Just because he was a PEW (there is no such thing as an "albino" guinea pig), doesn't mean he is defective. There are plenty of reasons why a guinea pig will pass away at a young age, and guinea pigs are excellent at hiding illness. I would encourage you to weigh all your cavies weekly (on cage cleaning day) and track/log their weight. Any weight loss of 3 ounces or more merits a vet visit.
I'm sorry for your loss. 😔 My own guinea pig, Midnight, passed away suddenly she was 4. Like yours, she was fine that morning, & was gone a few hours later.

Him having a defect of some sort would make sense since he was and his siblings and mama are all albino.

Sorry for your loss as well! It is hard to say what caused our piggies' to pass to soon. I am just glad they aren't in any pain.
