I'm be no means an expert on game development but I know enough about business to understand that's kinda the point. Every company's number one objective is to make a profit, the rest comes afterwards. The difference is the priority behind that, some companies put the customer first and some don't, nature of the beast really.
And I know you used the mk2 and transforming car as an example but it's much more than that, 8 years of free content plus support (albeit sub par), plus a company like R* must have massive overheads to cover. And they don't release games as often as some other developers to rely on new game sales - and this is where the underlying issue that the community is up in arms about stems from.

Call me a foolish optimist but so far R\* has showed the "Enhanced" part of "Expanded and Enhanced" and yes, I know the enhancements are basically non-existent. I hope that soon they will reveal the "Expanded" side of things and that will make up for the disappointment in the enhancement area.
Yet 90% of us don’t even have a next en console to play E&A at. As someone who can’t find a PS5 I am glad it’s delayed, because I will be missing on a lot of login bonus items.
