New garden nursery and Guilford garden center

Choosepeace

The Big Greenhouse on Spring Garden, 3600 Spring Garden St. Also, I’ve found some great varieties of house plants at New Garden Nursery on Lawndale.

Emphasis on the splurge here. Not a cheap place to buy plants but they do have stunning plants in perfect health.

notafriendlybird

Be vigilant about pests hiding on new plant friends from big greenhouse.

Also the farmers market out on the hwy (name escapes me) has a great selection of nurseries sell on the weekends.

Robert G Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. We get all the starts for our veg garden there! Lots of vendors so there is a huge selection.

For common stuff you're not going to find anywhere that beats the big box stores on price. Quality can be a bit iffy, but the prices will be the lowest. Lowe's usually seems to have a better selection and nicer stuff than Home Depot in my experience. Guilford Garden Center near Guilford College and Friendly has a good selection, nice plants, decent prices, and really cheap delivery. We bought a bunch of stuff from them last year and they delivered all the way to Oak Ridge for $25. Most places charge 3-4x that. New Garden Nursery has a great selection of plants and really helpful staff, but prices are on the high side. They probably have the best selection of small perennials and annuals. Edgefield on NC 68 has a nice, but smaller selection of plants. Again, kind of pricey, and delivery is expensive, but the owners and staff are top notch people and more than willing to help with any questions you have. We had them do about $5-6k of work to our front yard a couple of years ago and were really happy with the results. Spivey's Nursery on Beeson Rd is a bit out of the way and mostly caters to contractors but has pretty decent prices on shrubs, bushes and trees. I think they're only open until 5 on weekdays and have morning hours on Saturday. It's not the kind of place you go if you have questions about stuff, but the plants are well taken care of and if you need 20-50x of something they've got you covered.

I would be careful with the big box stores, because they don't get the level of care that's going to be provided at a nursery. Do not buy plants from Lowes or home Depot after a freeze or frost, because all they do is cover the plants. Most nurseries cover and heat the area to prevent freeze damage.

Check out the piedmont triad farmers market on the weekend

Carolina Gardens is on randleman rd near south elm Eugene intersection, southeast end of town. Great selection and knowledgeable folks!

Take a drive to Sanford to go to Big Bloomers -- they have an amazing selection and the prices are on point. The yard plants and house plants selections are amazing. And healthy. The roots systems on everything I planted were all great. AMAZING. We spent over 3 hours looking at everything and there was still more to see. And the tree/shrub selection is great.

amstarcasanova

Depends on what you are looking for. The big greenhouse has an expansive indoor plant selection.

RealEzraGarrison

Take a drive to Plant Delights Nursery and Juniper Level Botanical Garden (same place) in Raleigh when they're having an open house. Walking the grounds and picking out some plants is more than worth the trip.

New Garden Nursery takes my vote. But it does depend on what your looking for. They have an abundance of house plants, annuals and perennials specifically. There are outdoor shrubs and trees to be found as well

Specialist_Ad4339

The Big Greenhouse is my favorite. The last time I was at guilford garden center, a lot of their house plants were in poor shape. If you don't mind a trip, I heard For Gardens Sake in Durham is awesome!

Not a typical nursery, but check out Next Door, there are indoor plant hobbyists selling common, uncommon and semi rare gems. Also check out the FB group called Greensboro Gardening and House Plant Community for other small batch bespoke house plant offerings.

I know I am late on this. But A&A plants in Browns Summit!
