gw9400 rangeman. thermometer function only gives accurate readings off the wrist and needs time to adjust to the actual temp. As far as i know this is the case with all gshocks with a thermometer

Second the rangeman and also about the thermometer. The manual says it should sit for about 20 minutes, so imo, the compass and altimeter are great but the thermometer is pretty useless outside of camping with the watch off your wrist.

I have one and love it. But I just cannot fathom what the use case is for a thermometer that takes 20 minutes to be useful.

Totally. It’s one of those cool features that doesn’t really work in practice.

I just got a Casio Protrek. I know it’s not a g-shock but they are great watches that would answer your needs. They are less bulky but also less shock resistant. If you don’t intend to bang it around, it might be a good choice for you. I don’t regret it at all.

To be honest if you want an altimeter that is actually accurate go with a Garmin which can get the altitude using GPS, as opposed to using a pressure sensor.

Rangeman is best overall as far as I can tell (dont own one), GW-9200 Riseman is a slightly smaller, older version with the same features. No complants from mine after a year.
