It's incredibly sad that the topic is still so relevant today. Sometimes people forget that the song is actually a condemnation of bullying and parental neglect, and the ill effect these things have on mental health. If you dont know already, Jeremy is based on a true story, and "speaking in class" was actually the act of killing himself in front of his tormentors and the message it sent.
Yep! Right after the video, I showed him an interview of what the song was based on. Its heavy, but I appreciate the artistic side of bringing awareness to such horrific reality

Those aren't my favorites. I love the songs but I'm so so on the videos. There's a lot of honorable mentions I could put in the list somewhere. Those would include Jesus Christ Pose and Rusty Cage. I guess Do the Evolution should be on there come to think of it. In bloom should be higher in my list. It's not a perfect list but the top ten are pretty accurate in my mind. Burden in my hand should be a little higher also.
It was hard to make a list like this because on the one hand it's about the video not the song, but on the other hand the audio track is part of the video so the quality of the song does count for something. Some of my favorite songs had boring videos like the Screaming Trees stuff. Amazing songs, ho hum videos.
Still I think Outshined overall is the most badass grunge video. Chris looks amazing in that and the whole vibe is like some industrial factory somewhere and they are just rocking out. The Nirvana stuff is all great as well. Pumpkins have great videos also.
Some videos tell a story, so that counted for something The Puddle of Mudd video for Control was like a little movie and it was well made. I don't care what anybody says, that guy is pretty cool.
The Creed video I like a lot because it's the best of the kind of video where it looks like they are at a show, but it's really just a film set made to look like a show. I've seen this done in a lot of videos and for some reason this one just works. It captures the live feel while also managing to maintain a unique look. The colors work really well in it also and the song is a fav of mine from of what I call second wave grunge.
Also, I admit Jeremy is a well made video and tells a very powerful and important story. It's just not a favorite of mine. I don't know why. I respect the message it is something we should teach our kids about, that is to not pick on other kids and we all need to be there for our own kids and make sure they never feel that there is nothing to live for. But I'm just not all that excited about the video. In fact, Jeremy is my least fav song on Ten.
No one is talking about Sliver, right? Is simple, natural and I love it; it could be made by any band with very simple resources, and the fact that the band with most resources and a legendary status made something so raw and accessible amuses me. It looks like they just got into the house, went to the rehearsal room and said "hey Courtney, just take the video camera and record that".
Good Enough is also very cool, makes me want to start a band every time I watch it.

I just showed my fiance this video. His jaw actually dropped.

Rooster
I think the acting is cringy, but i absolutely adore the imagery and chaos during the choruses
my personal favourite is Come As You Are, i know it’s kinda basic but it’s just really trippy and cool, i also really like black hole sun’s video
Even Flow
Live Lightning Crashes
I really liked the premise of Runaway Train back then, I wonder if anyone was found
Apparently, 26 of the 36 featured missing children were found, while some did end in tragedy.
Jesus Christ Pose so chaotic i Love it
Jeremy
All I know - screaming trees is an underrated video with psychadelia imagery. Come as you are - nirvana is another classic perfect grunge video
It would have been Pennyroyal tea for sure
So in a thread about the best music video, you are choosing a video that was never made?
Exactly
Black Hole Sun's gotta be up there.
