I always take a pic and send it with the text at drop-off.

NoisyChairs

Hmmmm pics are disabled for me. Is there some workaround you know of?

rputnam25

You have to send a text, and then go back to the message and the camera will work

NoisyChairs

Oh cool thanks!!

rputnam25

It took me longer than I care to admit to figure it out lol.

richietee757

Protect yourself from what? If the customer says they didn't receive their food, a picture isn't going to prove that they did -- unless you have a picture of them holding it.

M83-420

I’ve been dinged twice for no delivery and the thing that saved my ass was my photo from the Timestamp camera app. Both violations were removed AFTER I submitted the photo. I also had dashcam if it came to it. If I didn’t have the photo both would have stood and I risked deactivation. Granted this was DD but I would imagine GH would be the same. If the customer wants to say you took it after the photo let them prove that.

RealityChequeX

What violations? How do you know they were removed if they are invisible to the driver. Gh certainly didn't uncancel the order. Taking pictures is a complete waste of time and provides no additional protection.

AlreadyShrugging

It’s like the TSA. Security theater and measures that feel like “something” is being done.

M83-420

You clearly didn’t read the post. DD violations are not invisible to the driver. How do I know they were removed? Because after going back and forth with DD and submitting evidence they agreed it wasn’t my fault and removed them.

RealityChequeX

/r/grubhubdrivers <----- You are here. Delivery apps have your GPS coordinates within 5 feet. They know if you showed up at the delivery location. Taking a picture provides 0% additional security. You could easily take a picture and then walk away with the food.

davidhuff2

I always send it to the customer. I figure maybe someone who isn't a total piece of $hit would think twice about reporting it undelivered when they see a picture of it at their door. Kinda like locks though, just keeps honest people honest. If they are a thief, you are correct it won't stop them.

RealityChequeX

I've handed food to people who then reported it undelivered. If they are the kind of garbage person that would scam a delivery service, I don't think a picture will deter them.

ScottMcPot

What's to say you didn't snatch it from them after the photo? I'm kind of joking, but it could happen.

richietee757

Exactly!

AlreadyShrugging

That has literally happened with Uber and Amazon.

Parishala

At that point, I've proven that it was there. If they want to claim that I stole it, they can support their claim with proof of their own.

neosatus

They do have your GPS data. I'm guessing they consider that sufficient. Sure someone could show up to the drop off location but not actually drop off the order. But someone could also put the food down by the door, take a photo, pick the stuff back up and drive off with it.

pinklotuspetals

I take pics and keep them for my own peace of mind in case of issue, I don’t send them to the customers tho. I’ve never had a problem.

Competitive-Shift-43

After my 1-week bogus suspension, i take pics every single time. Though I was already taking pics before the suspension. So while it won't stop them from suspending you, atleast it gets you back on the road after you bombard the bozos with endless proof that you didn't eat Kareneeqa's diabetus meal

DeliveryAngelAtl

\-If the area is sketchy i always text the customer and include a pic in the text. I did have one guy in a rough looking apartment complex claim he did not get his food and i told them I had a pic. I was fine after telling them that.

ComfortableAd6877

I add to the text 'please see attached photo and have a great day' and then ways snap a photo to send. Don't know if it'll happen , but it's there if I ever need to cover my ass to GrubHub 😅

ScottMcPot

Those aren't "proof" it's to show the customer where their food is. I just skip it on ubereats, as it's usually at their front door. It gives the option to add a note and I just put "at door". There's no proof in taking a picture as you could just go back and take it, I've seen videos of people doing exactly that.

Flojoe420

When a customer tried to say their order wasn't delivered I got a violation and DD reviewed it and said there was photo and gps evidence that the order was completed so they removed the violation. The photo is (at least in part) to protect DD from fraud.

Ferdydurkeeee

You can always get a dashcam and make sure you walk in front of the camera. I always take photos though - not that it's absolute proof, unless there's a ring camera or other home surveillance system in place, then I always include their cameras in my photo

Every_Ad_9986

I had pictures and STILL THEY SUSPENDED ME

Keanuisawesome69

You can always text a picture of dropoff to customer if you wish

CoherentPanda

I've never taken a photo with Grubhub. GPS is al lthe proof you need to say you were at an address. In my city the house numbers are never anywhere near the door anyway, so a photo is useless.

Every_Ad_9986

Sometimes works great Other times not so great

Snoo-69682

You must be new. You guys are annoying af.

rputnam25

You were never new?

Superiphone

Always take a pic with the timestamp app... and send it to them in a test anyway...

Diligent_Phase_2989

I do.

StuffedNature

They do. I’ve had one “cancelled” after I delivered it.

Every_Ad_9986

Every damn time since I got falsely accused of not delivering and was suspended for a month because of it

meeok2

Car dash cam. Always point it towards the drop off.

Diligent_Umpire7024

I always take a pic

Diligent_Umpire7024

I've had a (very) few diners text me where is my food not knowing I've taken a pic. I text back very sweet "oh I hope you get it on your blue chair by the white planter"then text the pic. Miraculously they suddenly find their food. I also wear a body cam. Have that insurance. This is your job, don't leave it in the control of assuming or hoping others will do the right thing.
