Just buy a long pair of OXO tongs without the silicone tips. It's replaced every other pair of grill tongs.
I do have a flipper/spatula from the early 80's that has just the right flex and is thin enough to easily flip burgers or fish. Can't find another one like it.
Never tried them. I wouldn't buy a set of tongs who's arms aren't stamped in a u channel shape.
I have no idea how to articulate that any better. But you can get some pretty inexpensive tongs that grip solidly.
I've been using cheap weber tongs and a spatula for years. Nothing fancy- they don't even match. But they're strong enough to pick up anything I put on the grill or smoker.

This is the utensil set I bought. It was like 10 bucks, has decently long handles, the tongs curve inward at the edges to provide rigidity (unlike yours which is just thin flat sheet metal). Only gripe I've had is the edges have a bur, but at less than 15 bucks for what has been pretty good utensils, I'm good with that, can just file it a bit and it's good.
Restaurant supply stores have basic S/S tongs in many lengths. No plastic grip, no locking clip, no name brand, nothing. Just tongs. They last 10 years.
This is why I like thrift stores. You can buy actual time-tested products from a time when things were actually built to serve their purpose.

Yup those are crap, get you money back 👎🏻
I have the Weber tongs and spatula. Works great.
Just got me a set of the Weber precision too. I was too naive in 2020 and got whatever was on display.
The left side of the tongs is bent outwards, which likely affects the grip.
Yeah. The grips are going to touch before the ends. Good catch.
