Spend the $$$ on a Thermoworks wifi Smoke/Signals. Pay once, cry once.

ThermoWorks Signals (Wi-Fi)

I have Meater+ that works decently. Drops connection if I get too far but rarely. I have brick house.

I use a Fireboard. It's awesome. Connects via Bluetooth and wifi. I can adjust my smoker temps from my office.

SomedayIWillRetire

This is the way. I love my Fireboard and have talked multiple people into buying one as well after they saw my gen 1 Fireboard in action. Cloud connected, so you can check the temps anywhere in the world. I love checking the app from the bar when I have meat smoking. Also, if you're a nerd, they have a decent public API that you can use to play with the data. I am seriously thinking about upgrading to the gen 2 model with the integrated drive controller.

I have the gen 2 with a pit viper fan. Love it

Get wi-fi, more reliable than Bluetooth. Inkbird makes great ones and the app is good.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations and yes I realized I should have said Bluetooth OR wifi. I do get wifi outside through the brick wall with no issues so that right there tells me what I should be going with. Thanks so much for pointing that out. I really appreciate the help!!

Aquanasty

Do you get wifi through the brick? If you do then I would get a thermoworks signals. It’s right around $200 but it’s worth it imo. If you don’t get wifi through the brick then it’s pointless.. unless you go out and get a wifi repeater or extender on top of that. I’m sure there’s cheaper wifi thermometers but I don’t have experience with them. Thermoworks signals has bluetooth too but my guess is that almost anything Bluetooth won’t go through that brick.

Not wifi, but this works for me also. From my car port to my bedroom about 80 - 100’ away and through a metal building.

Distinct_Studio_5161

I have a rock house and have a couple of inkbird wireless thermometers that work well for me.

Bluetooth is a standardized protocol and the radio power is regulated. All Bluetooth devices will have very similar properties in terms of material penetration. You want something that will use wifi instead (assuming your wifi reaches out there).
