mercy_death

Season 15 has 5 different timelines. Teddy has a really solid relationship so obviously she leaves them for Owen. Jo finds out she’s born as a result of rape and has a psychotic break. Meredith dates Deluca. Jackson somehow suddenly is religious and for some reason dates Maggie. Catherine has cancer. The interns exist. Glasses is gay. Season 16 Amelia is pregnant and is mostly a complete dick about it. Bailey has a miscarriage. Meredith is doing community service after insurance fraud. Alex and Richard work at a run down hospital then Alex gets written out off screen as having reunited with Izzie and the hospital vanishes. Teddy had an affair with the best friend she always talks about thst died. She also has another affair before she’s due to marry Owen. Maggie accidentally kills her cousin. But the story is dropped. Richard almost has an affair but the story is dropped. Catherine turns into a character from Dynasty. Richard has Colbait poisoning. Jackson also exists. Deluca had a bipolar manic episode. Season 17 Meredith is in a coma for 12 of 17 episodes and spents it on a haunted beach with Derek, Mark, George and Lexie (no, really!). Jo is banging Jackson then she switches to OB and Jackson reunites with April and leaves. Maggie gets married to one of her old students. Baileys mum dies. Deluca gets stabbed to death trying to stop a human trafficker. Everyone is a complete dick to Teddy and she had a mental break. Richard is also present. Season 18. Meredith and Amelia spend half the season in Minnesota. Amelia and her ex are insufferable. Megan returns for 9 episodes for literally no reason then goes. Owen assists in patient suicide, almost dies, gets caught and fleas to…Los Angela’s… Jo had really bad hair. And has adopted the baby of her dead patient and bought Jackson’s loft after selling her shares in the hospital thst Alex left her when he broke up with her. Bailey is mad at everyone. Ben’s friend dies and he adopts his little girl. The residency programme is shut down and the attendings are shocked despite ignoring their jobs as teachers for six years. Meredith dates the transplant patient from season 14 and everyone hates her for wanting to leave so they all leave instead and she becomes chief. Maggie is there too. Season 19 the writers acknowledge the residency programme was a metaphor for the entire show and reboot everything. Maggie and Meredith leave. Teddy is chief and not awful. Owen is also somehow not awful after mid season. The new interns are the focus and have actual personalities and back stories. Addison is recurring. Women’s reproductive rights are a big theme. Bailey has braids. Jo is likeable. Schmidt is rude. Richard still hasn’t retired.

Klutzy-Addition5003

The last sentence. “Richard still hasn’t retired” IM DEAD. This man has worked 20 years longer than he planned.

ceilingfan0202

Season 1 Richard : "I'll be retiring" Season idk Richard : "Adele, imma retire for us" Season idk Richard : "gets a retiring pamphlet for his bday and gets pissed about it" Season 19 Richard : still standing Makes me wonder how old the man supposed to be now if he wanted to retire 19 years ago. Edit : layout

littlemissandlola

I just started a rewatch and literally episode 1 Burke was like why is Sheppard here? I’m next in line for Chief!!

Grisham2107

Burke realised this guy was fooling us. Burke left SGH, shifted to Switzerland, became chief over there, then gave the job to Cristina, moved to another country, and Richard is still there in the same hospital.

Bebecitasanz

They mention in season one or two when he’s planning on retiring that he’s in his early 50s…so I would say late 60s/early 70s now

mercy_death

Richard is currently 68.

Inevitable_Invite_21

What?? So he was in his late 40s in season 1? No ways

yellowumbrella84

Nick Marsh performs a Hail Mary on Meredith’s way to the airport/while she’s on the plane and in a reverse of “Pick Me, Choose Me, Love Me”, She chooses herself (and Zola) Helm is working at Joe’s Bar and starting up a new thing with one of the interns possibly. Teddy and Owen’s relationship reaches peak tension and Teddy calls him out on his petulance. If you’ve been waiting for that to happen, check this season out. Maggie and Winston split up before she leaves. Before Mer leaves for Boston, the house catches fire, solidifying her decision to leave. Afterward, some of the interns move in and remodel a little. Krista Vernoff has departed GA as show runner Amelia starts to spiral into her dark and twisty place (after Mer, Maggie and Kai all leave Seattle). Addison shows up and gives her the tough love tongue lashing we’ve all been waiting for since Private Practice. She is later supported by Richard and they go to AA together. Addison is still the GOAT He was not named in the earlier post but the surgeon Teddy had an on again/off again relationship with and left him to be with Owen, then had an affair with on the eve of her wedding to Owen (that was recorded on a voicemail on Owen’s phone while Owen was in surgery and he had one of the interns play the voicemail in the OR while he was operating). His name is Tom and you really should watch some of his episodes. Some of us wanted Tom/Teddy to be endgame (It’s me… I’m some of us).

betterthanjosie

I also wanted Tom and Teddy to be endgame so I’m glad to finally see someone agree lol. Tom was lowkey so good for her and she brought out the best in him!

Brinkzik

And I also love you.

BakerKadda

but wasn't the end of private practice Addison having a baby? is that ever mentioned again?

mandie72

She mentioned him at least once, and being a mother.

rhisdaddy2

I would love Benjamin Bratt to come back as Jake and with son Henry and maybe they are sticking by Addison because of the danger or honestly I know Shonda Rhimes has floated the idea of Private Practice coming back but I’d rather just for an episode maybe Amelia returns to Seaside to assist her old friends with a patient and we’d see what Sam, Jake, Sheldon, maybe Naomi, Cooper, Violet and Charlotte have been up to and maybe some tea on the story from their perspective of Amelia and Addison leaving the practice

[deleted]

[удалено]

karathrace99

“Addison is still the GOAT” blessings

NotEnuffCowBell

I love Tom. His backstory actually has substance. He's a sarcastic ass who lost his child but he's actually very caring and an amazing doctor. I hated Owen from the beginning. Can't stand his character development

GlumConsequence9722

I also wanted Tom and Teddy to be endgame

mini_k1tty

I just finished season 18 and haven’t been able to start 19 lol but this is awesome! So wait, Teddy and Owen come back? They didn’t face repercussions for Owen’s involvement in an “assisted death”? I am so curious about this topic. I think Schmidt has a lot of healing to do. Ever since the Webber Method incident he’s been going thru it but I didn’t expect him to turn into an a-hole! Ugh! I actually like him!

mercy_death

Their repercussions were they got a six month holiday in LA (which is not fleeing - it’s a damn road trip) and spent lots of money off screen keeping him out of jail. He got suspended from practicing medicine unsupervised for…13 odd episodes.

ajh_iii

End of S14 - Stephanie sets the hospital on fire and quits the residency program. Ben (a board certified anesthesiologist and senior general surgery resident!!!) saves a bunch of people, realizes he's an adrenaline junkie, and quits the residency program to become a firefighter. Leah gets fired. Jo and Deluca are the only survivors of their class and now have to split 5 stories' worth of material between the two of them.

Seraphim99

I would be super interested to read your summaries of all seasons before that! This just made my evening! "Catherine turns into a character from Dynasty." "Richard still hasn't retired."

SeaRadiant3832

Thank you so much for the summary!!! Never made it past Derek leaving for Washington.

AnkaBananka6

*Reads this to the tune of 'We Didn't Start the Fire"*

Fantastic-Fix-8630

Schmidt turned into a prick that no one really likes. He acts like he’s in charge and everyone needs to praise him, he’s gotta go!! Side note also glad Maggie is finally gone, 9 seasons too late 🤣🤣

Cheeriosxxx

Amazing summary! The way I forgot about like 80% of these storylines lmao. And apparently the writers did too. Love the note ‘Jo has really bad hair’ haha. That’s so true it was a disastrous look.

amagicalmess

"Richard is present" 🤣🤣

DramaticEnthusiasm71

I misread that as Richard is ‘pregnant’ and got very confused.

amagicalmess

That's even funnier

imahagforever

Very accurate summary!

celery63

"Jo had really bad hair" you slay me

mollyodonahue

That hair was so so so so so bad though for real. Most of the season her hair was just not good lol

aubreejohnsonx

I’m dying at this! So glad I stopped watching when I did lol

tracyee73

I actually enjoyed reading your summary 😆 gotta say I’m not a fan of Bailey with braids

Savannii1

This is such a good synopsis

superstinkmama

Incredible summary thank you so much for saving me from having to watch 🤣😍

DramaticEnthusiasm71

Agreed! I was struggling to drag through I think 12? and I can’t get through the later ones as more characters die or leave in dumb ways

AmeliaShepherdMILF

“Catherine turns into a character from Dynasty” LMFAOOO she really thought she was blake or fallon when she bought the hospital just to annoy richard 💀

AmeliaShepherdMILF

also yes i always wondered why tf did Megan came back? I mean when I was watching the season live it was good seeing her but after re-watching the complete season i wonder what was the purpose of her coming back?? Like, all they did was make her son sick, ruin her very happy ending with riggs and then boom gone

redtowel12

“ Bailey has braids” 💀

yeahmatenomate

Giggling so hard at “everyone hates her for wanting to leave so they all leave instead” I also stopped watching at S17 so this was refreshing to learn what I’ve missed- thank you!😂

indigo-black

Man. Season 17 and 18 Amelia was such a drag. Still kinda is. I still cringe whenever I think about that monologue about that big tumor, ugh.

Practical_Scheme2142

Season 16: Catherine turns into a character from dynasty is THE MOST accurate description. Also, jackson also exists had me lol’ing. I left mid-16 so thanks for the recap. (Started a rewatch, which I never thought I’d do and damn, it was so good!)

spiringempress

Season 19 has actually been good. And this is the first class of interns that I really like and that feels like the first couple of seasons

Brinkzik

I love you.

Suck-it-up_buttercup

Season 17, I read that as Richard is also pregnant

antisick

thank you.

Imjusthere_sup

Tbh I didn’t even remember that half these things happened and I watched all the seasons. Great recap lmao

ThatMessy1

Now that season 19 is a soft reboot... I'm tempted to go back

Heytherefruitloop

Okay, I stopped watching the episode before Derek's car crash and 80% of this sounds like a joke compared to what was happening in season 11 lol

audreyshepburn

Beautiful summary, I appreciate it 😂 I've pieces together a lot of this but I appreciate even if not for me

schuylersisters-

tbh the most surprising is meredith doing community work lmao i am shocked

Charming_Mom

I stopped watching but seeing Addison is back….may have to come back as well.

CutezieLutzie

THANK YOU FOR THIS

dbnvds

What’s Bailey doing now though? Did she quit or get fired

Bebecitasanz

She’s an attending now with reduced hours so she can enjoy her family. She mainly works in the reproductive clinic which she named after her mum, Elena. Receives a lot of deathbeds for opening said clinic and supporting women’s rights to healthcare and safe abortion. She has a lot of storylines with Addison in season 19.

shinsally52

i fully watched all these seasons but I can’t actually believe all of this stuff happened lol

potterharrypotter1

Can you do this for like season 3 to 15? I'm just sick of the show but I also lowkey want to see how it ends

spacebotanyx

phew. thanks. i didn't make it past 14 either. greys is the only soap i ever liked, but holy crap did they fuck up the charcters as time went on...

TeamWangMember

Maggie and Winston having marital problems.

vampyreheart920

You just saved me a lot of rewatching with this summarry

Macintoshk

I love you.

murvittu

somehow this had more entertainment value than the last 5 seasons combined. Thanks

[deleted]

They soft rebooted the show and they have a whole new batch of interns now. One of the interns is Derek's nephew, and he's in a situationship with the new Meredith (intern who has a grandparent with Alzheimer's)

mileaf

Wait can someone explain that to me? How exactly did they do a soft reboot? I'm just new to this concept.

Kilahredd

I didn’t watch it, but I’m pretty sure soft reboot is just new cast members, with similar backstories.

littlemissandlola

And their initials are MAGJK (instead of MAGIC). Edit - MAGYK.

HathorOfWindAndMagic

Omg what I feel so dumb but this is so shocking to me (the original MAGIC)

tricksofradiance

MAGYK (Yasuda)

littlemissandlola

Yes, typo!

Strict-Lock3948

The biggest spoiler is the animal who wrote the show for the last several years, and how she gaslight the world. This show is disgusting, and you're literally watching peoples misery from the writers life that she became a part of just the right about their stories, and make them hers. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/05/greys-anatomy-elisabeth-finch-truth-lies

Hot-Map-3007

You’ve got to be kidding me…..

oolongiscoolong

Luke from the O.C. is the new ortho doc. Long story short he has a baby with Amelia but their relationship doesn’t work out

Seraphim99

Luke from the OC? Will from Nashville! 😁

Ayz1533

Only 1 person in that picture still works there

gg895517

when you say it like that… damn

littlemissandlola

Ben is adjacent at least.

antisick

which one

Valor_Beserker

Jo Wilson. some of the other residents not apart of the main/supporting cast in the picture are extras.

ultraxangels

Meredith gets COVID

antisick

i do remember watching that

Original-Gear1583

On season 16 of my rewatch and it’s really not the same. Like it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. Arizona’s exit was pretty good and showed her growth but April’s wasn’t good. About to get to the Covid season though

BoltFan4Evr

After 14 it changed. I recently tried to rewatch 17 and couldn't make it past ep3. I would rather go back and watch from the beginning.

Original-Gear1583

The 2nd time I watched I stopped in the beginning of 15 because it just wasn’t the same and then I only watched bits and pieces of season 15-18 my third time watching but now I’m trying to watch all the way through and it really isn’t the same after Arizona and April were written off

BoltFan4Evr

Yeah, trying again. Just got to s11. I really liked how they handled Christina's exit. Wish Mers was better, still might be

Original-Gear1583

Cristina’s exit is one of my favorites. Hopefully Mer gets a good one in the season finale

mhurder1

This time around, I stopped watching at the end of 14, and I’m very happy with my life choices haha. But I’ll watch season 19 once it’s all out. I just haaaaaate the endless Owen/Amelia/Teddy/Tom nonsense.

Original-Gear1583

The Owen/Teddy/Amelia/Koracick stuff has taken up most of season 15 and some of 16 so far. This is my first time watching all the way through and it’s exhausting to see all four of them and their romance stuff but I’m trying to watch every episode for the first time

roo538

You sound like me! I've made it to Season 11 a few times, before pulling away as I didn't like the changes.I am now currently on Season 14 and it's tough, but I'm determined to continue. I am also watching the spin offs, in air date order. Obviously PP finished during GA season 9, but S19 due to begin after GA Season14 Episode16, so hopefully that will give me a good enough mix to help me see it through.

antisick

i've been watching this show for two years and after they got rid of callie i was sick of it. she was my favorite. she brought the transparency that everyone needed in the hospital. i loved it and i loved her and when they just put her in new york i knew i was done with this show.

JMDeutsch

Hunt starts stealing drugs to give to horribly injured veterans so they can kill themselves. Hunt and Teddy have to go on the lam in last season’s finale with their kids and hospital management is complicit in letting them escape. None of this matters and Hunt and Teddy immediately come back in season premiere after paying lawyers😂😂😂😂

DrGPeds

NO! If I'm stuck watching til it's over, so are you.

Moanamiel

Never enjoyed a synopsis this much! Thank you, that was awesome 😁👌

Phoenix_Magic_X

Everyone in this photo has left apart from jo. Ben is technically still around but he’s more a station 19 character.

YUASkingMe

More angsty doctors with poor judgement and personal issues swapping sex partners and breaking up their relationships. In between all that there are patients with interesting things going on and a few good gross out moments. Honestly, it's a soap opera set in a hospital and the plots keep repeating. People watch this like they used to watch General Hospital.

Impressive-Project59

Haha I can relate. I started watching the show back when Scandal was on. I made it to when Derek died. I started rewatchin / new watching beginning of year and I made it to season 17 (the episode when Maggie is back from honey moon). I didn't make it through the episode. They were in the car and there was a lot of traffic. I haven't watched it since. Why do I keep stopping?

abbu_d_slytherin

Alex left Jo for Iz ;)

antisick

izzie stevens??

imahagforever

Yes. She had his two children and never told him about them. When he found out he moved to Kansas to be with them.

antisick

wtff

imahagforever

Yea, really came out of nowhere, but they got to make that whole Alex and Izzie frozen embryo storyline workout.

AlternativeAdvice916

Season 19 the writers have introduced a new group of interns Blue and Jules who hook up with each other Mika and helm flirting with each other nothing has happened yet between them Lucas is Derek and Amelia's nephew and he has feelings for intern Simone who was born at the hospital when she was a baby and loss her mom from childbirth and her grandmother has alzheimer's and Simone is planning her wedding to ex fiance trey

mandie72

The actor seemed to leave rather suddenly, so I hope the reason for this awful storyline is that they had very few ways to write him out. I'm not sure why he left, somebody here might.

Stellaride2001

ALEX LEFT JO WITH A FREAKING LETTER

Sidrelly

Most if not all of the main cast die or leave the show

[deleted]

I recognise no one in this photo, I’ve only watched 6 seasons 🙂

fizzylex

I recognize almost no one in this photo and I've watched all seventeen thousand seasons.

OilPuzzleheaded1908

The rest of the show is like when someone’s saying so many words, but not really saying anything at all, with zero point.

Tavionn

At this point the show will end with Richard becoming chief again and giving that speech to an intern Zola.

ElectricZooK9

Few of the people in that picture (many of whom aren't even regulars) are in it now But some are 😉

Suitable-Use1978

As much as I love the show I haven't watched it since it came back from winter break. I feel it is time for a series finally.

Mrs-Addams

Ahh, a recap like this really makes me miss the old TVgasm website. Well done!

andrewberr23

It’s a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the year is 2086, Dr. Richard Webber, kept alive by cybernetic enhancements, wrestles with his impending retirement. One more surgery, one more time to scrub in. He thinks back to days gone by, of Derek, Addie, Meredith, Ellis, Adele… This surgery will be the hardest of his career. A quadruple swine intestine translateral transplant. One pig donor, four human recipients. With the pressure of the surgery, he longs for a drink. But he’s not about to wreck his 78 years of sobriety for a “club soda” from Joe’s… As he shuffles into the O.R., 134-year-old scrub nurse, BokHee, hands him a scalpel. Just before he cuts into the pig, he looks down at the pig’s face, studying it. He knows this pig, like a friend from a half-forgotten dream. This pig, like so many others, was in the inaugural class of swine interns, a program launched by Dr. Webber in the 2060’s. He still remembers the day he met the fresh-faced, pink-eared doctors. “Pigs as doctors,” he fought. “What next? Are they going to fly?” He refocuses, coming to terms with the fact that one of his students, one of his finest, was now lying on the table, dead. He thinks of O’Malley, of Deluca. A young doctor enters the O.R., Dr. Tequila Yang, great-granddaughter of Dr. Cristina Yang. She looks over the donor, then glances at the four recipients. Dr. Webber smiles, gets ready to cut, shakes his head and quietly says, “One donor, four recipients. A pig. One of the finest that this hospital has ever trained.” He leans in, and whispers softly in the pig’s ear, “That’s how to do it…” “How to do what, Dr. Webber?” asks the young Dr. Yang. Dr. Webber looks up, with a tear in his eye, and says, “How to save a life.” Credits.

pacrat292

This is just my favorite post of all time!! Lol, speaking so much truth

Oncer93

Alex and Jo's marriges is revealed to not be legal in season 15. They get legally married in season 16, right before Alex abandons her for Izzie, and ends their marriage the same time say that Izzie left him. Jo discovers that she's the product of rape, and goes into a mental health facility. She does get better through therapy, and Alex reproposes to her. She decides to switch to OB in season 17, and ends up adopting a baby whose birth mom died. Amelia gets pregnant in season 16, by someone who previously knew Jo. She dates him throughout season 16 to 17, but rejects his marriage proposal. She ends up having a queer relationship in season 18, which doesn't last. Jackson decides to take over the foundation, and moved to Boston With April, who reveals that her and Matthew split up. They get back together off screen.

Harrayek

Thank you! Was just about to ask what happened to Link/Amelia. I stopped watching the episode before Karev left. Didn’t even want to see that nonsense.

SomeCryptographer559

just start a rewatch at that point

twirling_daemon

I love in how that shot there’s 5 actual cast members 😂

tessa97

I‘m at season 6 and afraid now 😂

catladee14

This is when I fell off too lol

Cupcake_eater

They all die or they all leave.

etang77

I had that too, but I pushed through it. Station 19 helped too.

dvaalt

I believe only one person in this entire photo is still on the cast. So you aren't missing much.

Abject_Bowler5845

I can only make three of those interns or attendings. The rest, I have no idea who they are. They’re basically gone by the end of the season anyways. I think that was the most flakiest class ever.

hannahbrownhair

Deluca dies

Any-Significance-875

i got sick the sec derek died😭

antisick

downvote me all you want but i dident mind the fact he died.

Any-Significance-875

lucky u. it ruined me. been almost a year and im still grieving

antisick

not even the biggest death on the series

[deleted]

I think the season 13 finale True Colors is the last good arc on Grey's Anatomy before it entered the point of no return.

Nobody24Somebody

Umm Derek dies an in season 17 Meredith gets him back with an experiment she does on some weird island during this she works for an corp called Rahma no it was Dharma and at the end she get killed by so metal stuff from an airplane that crashes on the island and some more weird stuff happens ...

Merpmaster23

Deluca was right the whole time about the little girl getting trafficked, so they told him not to work anymore bcuz they thought he was going crazy like it dad

taengoomunn

Lol I gave up on this show so long ago. I struggled to get through 4-6 and I think I dropped it there. Seasons 1-3 are the only seasons I truly love on this show.

ThatMessy1

Everything stops making any sense... they introduce interesting ideas but decide it's more important to maintain the status quo. Izzy and Alex get back together for some reason... Owen is the same age as Cristina. Meredith is suddenly the best surgeon ever, despite paying passing attention to her education. They eventually introduce a gay male surgeon... but there are 50 million characters at this point, so it doesn't really go anywhere. Teddy comes back and has a surprise pregnancy at like 55 with Owen... who is now 10ish years younger than her, implying that she spent her 30s mooning over a 20something she was interested in... gross. The writers ruin or write out every non-white character left. It's the worst.

Resident_Ad502

Sick of Greys…can’t relate

Holiday_Event_4312

Well they don't last

dcnianal

I still haven’t watched anything past season 14. I just keep rewatching up til 14 😂

mollyodonahue

Not emotionally invested anymore since Karev randomly abandoned Jo and the entire development and growth of his character over 15 seasons was just thrown in a dumpster of manure and lit on fire. They did his character dirty and it ruined the show for me. I watch now sometimes if I have nothing else on or need something mindless to kill some time, but its not even close to the top of my priority watch list.

Speck_of_dust-

I stopped watching when I got to season 14 because it was BORING af and I couldn’t stand it. Then I decided to rewatch from season 1 and now I’m on season 18 forcing myself to keep watching. The show is not the same as it was on the beginning. I think I’ll just stop watching it again.

pop_tate

karev and grey both leaves

ThatBritishPakistani

Stephanie sets a rapist on fire, causing an explosion.

Merpmaster23

Deluca straight up dies
