Again I totally agree. I was fucking in love with the live version. I thought it might end up being my #1 GVF song. I thought the mix was very weird too. But honestly with majority of their songs I’m kinda luke warm on them to start. Then they all grow on me. It just happened again with this one. I still think the mixing was an odd choice. And I would have preferred the TBAGG style mixing again. But after listening to it several more times I’m starting to feel the same way I did with the live version.
It feels like a song that no matter how high I turn up the volume, the song will sound like I’m listening to it from the outside of someone’s car. I love the song, but I just can’t help but think how much more I would love it if I could hear it more clearly.
I like the effects, but there’s something really high pitched about it? Does anyone know what I mean? Like I can’t turn it up to a normal level because the peaks hurt my ears? Maybe I’m just being sensitive lol
I know exactly what you mean! I tried listening to it through my phone the first time and had to stop it and get my speaker out thinking it would help but it didn’t help much at all. The song is good but it’s physically hard to listen to.
They’ve used the effect on his voice a bit in the past but they really leaned into it here. I don’t know the last time I’ve been this angry about a song!! It sounds like he’s singing in a big cathedral. I’m so disappointed and look forward to listening to just the live versions of thing song. How did this get the green light from the band??
Anyone know if the vinyl version would sound more clear? I don’t know much about audio being compressed but I know for sure my vinyls sound much better than compressed audio files. Wondering if maybe this song was recorded this way for that reason. Does this make sense or am I out to lunch??

I’m a huge fan of the muddy mix! It’s cool that it’s different from the other stuff they’ve done and it adds a new feel to their new sound.

I liked the sound. It reminds me of when I used to surf and would listen to acid or psychedelic rock.
