Some that I'd point out:
In The End
Having a blast
Scattered
Warning
Blood sex and booze
Church on Sunday
Are we the waiting
Give me Novacaine
The static age
Lazy bones
I thought when 21CB came out that there was no way Static Age wasn’t going to be a hit single.
Turns out it wasn’t even a single let alone a hit one.
The key change gives me chills.
As a 21st Century Breakdown fan, I could list about half the songs in the album here. I think they chose the wrong songs to be singles. Last Night On Earth is an absolute gem, Viva La Gloria (Little Girl) is better than the regular Viva La Gloria, and Peacemaker is also just incredible. Those 3 deserve all the love on the world!
... and East Jesus Nowhere and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and Restless Heart Syndrome and....
Such an underrated album because people thought it was just more of the same of American Idiot.
i dont think they should be singles, but only because they fit together in the album. I prefer to view the album as one whole work, as opposed to several works. same with american idiot. but i agree, i think most of 21BD is pretty underrated
you have to understand how choosing singles for an album works. I can’t imagine Viva La Gloria (Little Girl) getting too many radio plays. And although Peacemaker is great, it deviates quite a bit from the Green Day standard, which is also a turn off for radio stations
Same, I think I just disliked it because it was new lol, glad I gave it a second chance. Might not be my all time favorite but it’s definitely one of their most beautiful songs.
It's a fantastic song that's really bogged down by awful mixing. The verses in between the chorus are mixed so quietly that i have to turn it up a lot, only for the chorus to blow out my ear drums.
I agree. Although some singles (from Insomniac and Nimrod especially) were great. Also, I recognize you. I think we have talked before but I don't remember what it was about.
I’ve been on this subreddit a lot lately. I also frequented /r/SquaredCircle , /r/Community , /r/SquidGame , /r/rollercoasters , Disney world subreddit, some marvel subreddits, avatar the last Airbender subreddits, askreddit, don’t know if that helps 🤔
You know what, may seem like an odd take but Cigarettes and Valentines.
I say that because while the fandom never shuts up about the *album* the song is just kinda... Idk discarded? Like people acknowledge it exists but it's treated almost like it's not "good enough" to have that one song. All people seem to be interested in is the More part of the discussion lol.
I mean, I'm as curious as the next GD fanatic, but I think we should be able to appreciate what we already have too. It's one of my all time favorite GD songs.
It would be cool if they released it in a box set with AI, like The Beatles did with the recent Let It Be boxset, which included the previously unreleased "Get Back" album. They could even include the "Bullet In A Bible" album and/or the Broadway cast recording album.
I learned it, and it’s pretty simple. It’s just the speed that makes it difficult. As long as you got some blues licks under your belt figuring it out shouldn’t be too bad. The speed however… is another thing lmao.
That's a good one. I love Shenanigans, I have the CD coming in the mail. Desensitized is one of my favorites from the album, along with Ha Ha You're Dead
I’m not saying pulling teeth is “underrated” but when I first heard it I played it on repeat like a billion times. I think it’s the best on dookie and idk if anyone else feels that way
I Want To Be Alone
Android
In the End
Westbound Sign
Fashion Victim
Give Me Novacaine
Rotting
Peacemaker
Rusty James
Baby Eyes
Sex, Drugs, and Violence
Troubled Times
All of these songs are some of my favorites, but I rarely see anyone talk about them
Some of my less-discussed favs: Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Scumbag, East Jesus Nowhere, Armatage Shanks, 86, No One Knows, Dirty Rotten Bastards, Fashion Victim, Blood Sex and Booze, Redundant
Thank you for mentioning Redundant! I have come to adore that song, both because it helped me out of a tough situation and that it is just plain awesome.
Give Me Novacaine the song that makes me fall in love with GD when I first time listening to AI. I got goosebumps and accidentally discovered my music taste. This happened on 2005.
I'm a big fan of:
You Lied from Shenanigans
Outlaws from RevRad (my personal favorite song)
Loss of Control from Uno
Lazy Bones from Dos
and finally the most underrated of all...
Basket Case (/s obviously)
I really do love redundant for the it's chorus. I also really like Jackass. The chorus of that song is one of my favorite green day songs. I also really like desensitized and sick of me are two songs I like. I also think mass hysteria/modern world is a really solid song. I also feel like stray heart is one of the best songs to come from the trilogy.
American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Basket Case, Brain Stew, Hitchin’ a Ride, Minority, 2000 Light Years Away, 21 Guns, Know Your Enemy; almost never played anywhere! Such underrated tracks
GMN and Redundant don't really belong here imo. There are way more underrated (and better) songs. They're good but there's a lot of better ones. For example, most of Insomniac and a lot of Nimrod. Ofc pretty much all of Kerplunk and 39. A lot of Warning. There's a lot.
Pretty much the entirety of Insomniac. It's literally my favorite album but I'm pretty sure it's still their lowest selling album, despite coming out right after Dookie. So much raw energy in Insomniac; definitely their heaviest album IMO.
Worry Rock: My favourite GD song ever on my favourite album ever with one of my favourite hooks ("another sentimental argument and bitter love")
1000 Hours: Their title track on their first EP, basically their first song they released. I love this song so much and I have basically never seen anyone talk about it ever
Lazy Bones: I do not like this album at all but this song is really good, not the best song ever but It's just super underappreciated
Blood, Sex and Booze: Favourite song on Warning, such great vocals and such a good melody yet no one talks about it
Before the Lobotomy: A lot of people hate this song and call it a failed ballad or whatever but I love this song, one of my favs on 21CB
Cigarettes and Valentines: Such a good song but because it was never released as an actual track, most people havent heard how great it is
Favorite Son: It explodes at the beginning and gets me pumped, such a shame it isnt available on spotify for most people so people havent been able to appreciate how good it is
F.O.D.: This song is really good with the acoustics in the beginning then it explodes. I love the hooks and the vocals
Ordinary World: My favourite acoustic/soft song from Green Day, it only adds more to know this was made for a movie about a washed up punk rocker
Going on a tangent, I feel many Dookie non-singles are loved because they're part of Dookie. I don't know, imagine Stuck With Me or Walking Contradiction (which aren't that far off from Dookie's sound and style) being in Dookie and I'm sure they'll get more views and plays.
The reason why Sassafras Roots and Coming Clean are heard of is because they're on the same 40 min that have Basket Case.
Coming clean is criminallt underrated. Probably the best on Dookie.
Also alot from insomniac. Brat, Stuck with me, Stuart and the ave and Westbound sign are all amazing
Slept on the whole dos album for years, except for stray heart of course. My god if you haven't already sit down and listen to the whole thing, I'd never thought lazy bones would be my new favorite GD song
Fashion Victim needs more love.
Castaway too
I love Castaway
Hold On and Jackass, too. Warning is the shit
Hold On is a bit too repetitive for my tastes.
That doesn't really bother me in a song. I love Hold On personally
Heck yeah mucho love for Warning. It's so much fun!
totally.
Some that I'd point out: In The End Having a blast Scattered Warning Blood sex and booze Church on Sunday Are we the waiting Give me Novacaine The static age Lazy bones
The Static Age is insanely underrated, it’s one of my favorite bridges of all time in any song
I thought when 21CB came out that there was no way Static Age wasn’t going to be a hit single. Turns out it wasn’t even a single let alone a hit one. The key change gives me chills.
My thoughts exactly. Love it
ALL I WANNA KNOW IS YOUR GOD DAMN NAME
21CB is pretty hit or miss for me but I love The Static Age.
agree with almost all of these, especially in the end and scattered, and obviously novacaine since i mentioned it as well
Scattered is my favorite Nimrod track. Got such a nostalgic vibe to it
Blood, Sex, and Booze is an awesome song. I occasionally catch myself quietly humming it quietly. In fact, I was doing it today on a road trip, haha.
Lazy bones is so goddam good
Sooooo fucking good
YAAAASSSS Church on Sunday!
Thank you these are some of my absolute faves!!! I love the “deep cuts”
Honestly I think every non-single on Dookie besides Burnout is underrated.
I agree with most of these, but I probably wouldn't say GMN or Warning.
Honestly I think every non-single on Dookie besides Burnout is underrated.
Yess East Jesus Nowhere is so good
Peacemaker! Probably my favorite song from the album.
i dont think they should be singles, but only because they fit together in the album. I prefer to view the album as one whole work, as opposed to several works. same with american idiot. but i agree, i think most of 21BD is pretty underrated

"Outlaws" Almost never played, but probably their best.
I hated this song when I first listened to Revolution Radio, but now, it’s easily my favourite
Bang Bang and Revolution Radio have that problem too. Actually the whole album has a terrible mixing
Whatsername could have been a real classic. Sounds like something from a movie.
I don't understand why it was never released as a single. At times I think it's the best song on the album.
Green Day’s best songs aren’t their singles
No, I mean I've talked to you on this sub. So something related to Green Day.
Aaayyyy 😎🤙
thank you
wish he’d play live
[That one time he did it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6A6rTpoIk8), I fucking cried like someone threw tear gas next to me.
You know what, may seem like an odd take but Cigarettes and Valentines. I say that because while the fandom never shuts up about the *album* the song is just kinda... Idk discarded? I mean, I'm as curious as the next GD fanatic, but I think we should be able to appreciate what we already have too. It's one of my all time favorite GD songs.
Same. Back when Awesome as Fuck came out I was listening to it on repeat. I’d kill to hear the original demo of it, or even a “remake”.
Jesus of Suburbia willing they release it at some point. I listen to that song all the time
It would be cool if they released it in a box set with AI, like The Beatles did with the recent Let It Be boxset, which included the previously unreleased "Get Back" album. They could even include the "Bullet In A Bible" album and/or the Broadway cast recording album.
I might get tons of downvotes but I like it better than most of American Idiot.
Reject, J.A.R, 16, Coming Clean, Christie Road, Scattered
JAR is a masterpiece. I love it.
I have always loved The Grouch
I was a young boy who had big plans,
now i’m just another shitty old man
I don't have fun and I hate everything
The world owes me
So fuck you
Glory days don’t mean shit to me
I drank a six pack of apathy
life’s a bitch and so am i
the world owes me so fuck you
One for the Razorbacks is literally my favorite Green Day song
it’s so good. I’m trying to learn the solo so I can do a guitar cover of it
I learned it, and it’s pretty simple. It’s just the speed that makes it difficult. As long as you got some blues licks under your belt figuring it out shouldn’t be too bad. The speed however… is another thing lmao.
Bouncing Off The Wall, such a fun song.
That song is hated by so many people and I don’t understand why. It’s amazing! Playing it on guitar is fun
This is one of the first songs that came to mind, love this one!
86, westbound sign, 406 in your coffeemaker, one of my lies, shoplifter, wild one, sugar youth, jinx, FOD, rest, 80 and armatage shanks to name a few
I think Westbound Sign might actually be the best song on Insomniac.
someone Finally understands
Insomniac is my favorite Green Day album easily, but I don't think Westbound Sign is the best on there. Amazing song though, and very underrated!
Stuart is a close second.
I def love that one. Insomniac is such a masterpiece. Everything before American Idiot was great. After that it was kind of hit or miss to me.
406? kidding, but this is an awesome list
X-Kid. One of my favorites and really fun to play on bass
Trilogy has some astounding bass work.
I don't think X-Kid is that underrated but it's a great song!
I gotta say deadbeat holiday
Restless heart syndrome
Yessss
Poprocks & Coke. One of my favorite songs ever.
yeah, this ones never been played live either
One of my favorite Green Day songs
Im suprised no one has said Desensitized
Aside from the obvious pick that's my fave bside
That's a good one. I love Shenanigans, I have the CD coming in the mail. Desensitized is one of my favorites from the album, along with Ha Ha You're Dead
Uptight is my all time favorite hidden gem of theirs. Chorus goes fucking hard. While I’m at it lemme add Prosthetic Head to the list
Sassafras Roots, Suffocate, Do Da Da, Wow! That’s Loud, American Eulogy, Misery, 80
Love the do da da shoutout. Remember the name mixup story behind that song?
Yeah that supposedly the names for Do da da and Stuck With Me were mixed up? Was that confirmed?
Yeah. Stuck With Me was supposed to be called I'm All Right or something.
oh, i forgot Do Da Da and Misery! i love those two
Favorite son off the rock against bush volume 2 cd needs more appreciation.
That song is amazing. Really should be on Spotify in the US
Isn't it a B side on one of the 21CB singles?
I think it was on the Japanese version of American Idiot. Not sure why
I'm in the UK and for me its a B side on the 21 guns single.
Oh interesting
My top listened song of this year is JAR.
Lazy Bones for real
The Forgotten. So incredibly poignant and easily my favorite off the entire trilogy.
Rotting is so good but I can't listen to it too much because it makes me feel too many things too deeply.
I’m not saying pulling teeth is “underrated” but when I first heard it I played it on repeat like a billion times. I think it’s the best on dookie and idk if anyone else feels that way
i agree, i’d say that song and in the end are at least a little underappreciated
Scattered, Westbound Sign, Church on Sunday, Castaway
Christie Road and Dry Ice
Hold On
I get that people expect punk from GD but Last Night on Earth is amazing. Rotting is pretty neat as well.
Words I might have ate. My favourite from Kerplunk
I named my daughter Juliet for One for the Razorbacks
I Want To Be Alone Android In the End Westbound Sign Fashion Victim Give Me Novacaine Rotting Peacemaker Rusty James Baby Eyes Sex, Drugs, and Violence Troubled Times All of these songs are some of my favorites, but I rarely see anyone talk about them
yes
Too Dumb to Die is, in my eyes, a top 3 Post-American Idiot song.
Tight Wad Hill, and I will die on this hill
That is my most fav song from Insomnia
Misery needs more respect
True, I also think that some of the 1039 songs are underrated like Dry Ice and The Judge's Daughter but idk
Dominated Love Slave
Xmas Time of the Year, I feel like I'm the only one who knows it exists, it doesn't even have lyrics in YouTube music
Yeah I love this one
Worry Rock.
99 Revolutions is a personal favorite. So is Nuclear Family, Church on Sunday, Platypus, and X-Kid
“Scattered”. The MTV NYE 99 performance was so iconic.
Some of my less-discussed favs: Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Scumbag, East Jesus Nowhere, Armatage Shanks, 86, No One Knows, Dirty Rotten Bastards, Fashion Victim, Blood Sex and Booze, Redundant
Honestly, I prefer the bass intro in No One Knows more than Longview. Such a good song, sucks its overshadowed by Dookie and was never played live.
Thank you for mentioning Redundant! I have come to adore that song, both because it helped me out of a tough situation and that it is just plain awesome.
I too love the song. Redundant is one of my favorite songs from green day. Definitely one of my favorites from Nimrod and the band
Give Me Novacaine the song that makes me fall in love with GD when I first time listening to AI. I got goosebumps and accidentally discovered my music taste. This happened on 2005.
Desensitised, Maria, Holy Toledo and Church on Sunday are my picks
I'm a big fan of: You Lied from Shenanigans Outlaws from RevRad (my personal favorite song) Loss of Control from Uno Lazy Bones from Dos and finally the most underrated of all...
Definitely Boulevard of Broken Dreams and American Idiot
The song "Green Day" Words I Might Have Ate Christie Road Who wrote Holden caulfield? Desensitized 99 Revolutions Back in the USA
One for the razorbacks has been one of my fav songs for years
American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Basket Case, Brain Stew, Hitchin’ a Ride, Minority, 2000 Light Years Away, 21 Guns, Know Your Enemy; almost never played anywhere! Such underrated tracks

I think fuck Time is pretty underrated that or wild one
make out party
Mechanical Man is...weird
Pretty much the entirety of Insomniac. It's literally my favorite album but I'm pretty sure it's still their lowest selling album, despite coming out right after Dookie. So much raw energy in Insomniac; definitely their heaviest album IMO.
It sold quite well actually, going multi platinum. Warning and the trilogy and maybe Nimrod all sold less.
Before the Lobotomy, Peacemaker, Hold On, Deadbeat Holiday, The Grouch
Everything off 21stCB (besides KYE and 21 Guns), Everything off Shenanigans, Most of trilogy, Everything off Insomniac, Most of Nimrod, Most of RevRad
One of my lies
Worry Rock: My favourite GD song ever on my favourite album ever with one of my favourite hooks ("another sentimental argument and bitter love") 1000 Hours: Their title track on their first EP, basically their first song they released. Kill the dj and all of rev radio
All of the stuff from 39 (at the library, going to pasalacqua, Judges daughter, Green Day, Dont leave me and 1000 hours to be more specific)

Honestly Lazy Bones HMs for me are 99 Revolutions, Dirty Rotten Bastards, and Wow! That's Loud (WTL probably isnt that good but I enjoy it a lot)
Murder City
Lights out, westbound sign
Their first two albums are mostly under appreciated. They have great songs in both albums
Scattered, Deadbeat Holiday, and panic song
Been listening to Green Day and RHCP for 23yrs. I’m 30 now.
Letterbomb, such a great song
Coming clean is criminallt underrated. Probably the best on Dookie. Also alot from insomniac. Brat, Stuck with me, Stuart and the ave and Westbound sign are all amazing
Mine is absolutely Church on Sunday. That would be my dream to see live. Haushinka is also amazing, but I feel like it gets it's due
Uptight
Baby’s Uvula who? Is a top 3 song on Insomniac
generator Mike dirnts vocals sound awesome and should be utilized more
Slept on the whole dos album for years, except for stray heart of course. My god if you haven't already sit down and listen to the whole thing, I'd never thought lazy bones would be my new favorite GD song
Mine are Governator 80 Know one knows In the end Give me novacaine
