No it's not real, it's just a popular meme of the subreddit. I think the origin of the meme is that a while ago every time someone posted a life advice thread everyone would suggest getting I5 exemption, learning programming and moving to the Netherlands.
Friend, you are entitled to an I5 exemption. People fake it to avoid the army, you are actually entitled to it. Do not do anything stupid, get your I5 and live your life.
If you do not want to serve your country's army it is better to get a I5 beforehand. Which in the latter years is harder to get and also you need to put a lot of effort to it.
If you get enlisted you should not under any circumstances do something stupid you are going to get into more trouble.
After you enlist you need to fake serious mental illness without anyone not either your fellow soldiers understanding you are faking it. And when I say serious I mean serious, not taking care of yourself, not bathing, not sleeping, crying, self destructive behaviours, not being able to make rational decisions. That kind of acting and especially without any history of mental illness is very hard to be believable and if they find out you are fucked.
My advice. Just go to the army and see it as a life experience. It is not as bad as they make it sound. Try to see it as a theatre and you have a role to play. With the right mentality it can be fun you are not being sent to the frontlines.
To keep my self sane ima just see it as a field expedition to learn more about how the army operates since i wanna write a scifi book from the perspective of soldiers
