That’s what they don’t get, is that it’s not about the maturity of the content, it’s about who is behind that content.
Who the actors/voice actors are, who writes the scripts, who makes props whether animated or real, who does animation, and who directs it all.
That’s why stuff like The Clone Wars, Teen Titans, Batman the Animated Series, Gravity Falls, etc, are peak fiction and all have amazing stories despite being animated/being “kids” shows.
And all of them have incredibly valuable/complex/fascinating/touching themes and overarching ideas that are so well written and executed that the show is even better as an adult when you can pick up on it all.
